Noticed the only thing different would be Kyuru joining Oshtoru's expedition but he's pretty minor of importance anyway.

Not sure which of the Eight Pillar Generals I like the most so far but that Vurai guy seems like a badass.

Maybe his father did a lot for the Empire. And yet Dekoponpo is mostly harmless, cause other generals keep him in check.

Atui in battle: Ok. She has shown no leadership whatsoever, but at least she has shown (rather impressive) personal combat abilities. Historically, it's not uncommon to have a general with high charisma and/or martial ability to lead the army and one or more advisers (strategist, staff officer, etc) to devise strategy and tactics. Someone might be there to keep Atui in check, even if she does not have any hereto unrevealed combat abilities.

I get this nagging feeling that the reason that Haku looks so similar to Oshutoru, that Oshotoru wears a mask in public, and that the subtitle is the false faces means Haku is going to impersonate Oshutoru after he dies in battle. Let's see if that pans out.

Dekaponpo is actually one of the loyal guys albeit his incompetence.

She's still a daughter of one of 8 generals, so she has Noblese Oblige to fulfill. Burd would help her out in battle since they are considered as one unit gameplay wise.

Oboro's presence in the opening reminds me of this question: What is Tuskuru's line of succession like now?

Is Kuon the crown princess who will succeed the throne once she returns from her journey?

Is Oboro's family the royal family now?

Is Oboro's family the family of stewards, maintaining the country while waiting for the return of their eternal emperor Hakuoro?

Oboro was actually the child of the Emperor before Inkara back before Kenashikourupe became Tusukuru, and Benawi is his distant relative. They have always been the Royal Family.

Well, Oboro IS Kuon's uncle

IIRC in the game, Hakuoro entrusted Tusukuru to Oboro before going to his slumber, Oboro in turn left the country to Benawi and took Yuzuha's child (Kuon) to go on a journey

But now it can assumed that Oboro had returned years before this new series began (Kuon got to be raised by all the heroines after all). I would say Kuon is indeed the Crown Princess of Tusukuru, and Oboro has been acting as the ruler awaiting her return

An interesting piece of trivia, but it doesn't answer my question for several reasons.

Spoiler for first series:

1. Oboro was the child of the emperor in one of Tusukuru's predecessor states, not Tusukuru. His lineage does not give him claim to Tusukuru's throne automatically.

2. Tusukuru was created from a popular rebellion against its predecessor state. A state created in this way would not recognize the royal family of the predecessor state as part of its royal family.

3. When Tusukuru was created, Hakuoro was crowned its emperor over whatever claim Oboro may have had. Tusukuru's people, foreign powers, and the mediators the Onkamiyamukai all recognized him over any claim to the throne Oboro may have had.

4. The imperial court of Tusukuru was built around Hakuoro's leadership and personal charisma, not out of lineage. They are loyal to him, not the blood of the royal family of a predecessor state.

5. Hakuoro is the god emperor of the land of Tusukuru--and possibly the god of all new mankind--a fact that his closest retainers and advisers recognized.

All of these factors indicate that whatever blood relations Oboro may have had with the royal family of Tusukuru's predecessor state is of no importance. If Hakuoro did not specifically hand the throne to Oboro, then Oboro would beat Kuon in a succession crisis only in a few circumstances:

1. The custom in the land of Tusukuru strongly favors male primogeniture, in which case Oboro might succeed as the closest male relative.

2. Tusukuru is run under merit based succession rather than blood succession--like the early Roman empire, the emperor adopts a capable successor rather than pass the throne to his biological children. But if this is the case, then Oboro's line would not be the royal lineage of Tusukuru.

But even under either of these cases, Oboro's claim to the throne would not be based on his blood relations to the royal family of Tusukuru's predecessor state.

Not surprised at what happened with Dekponpo through. It's pretty much a textbook example of why you shouldn't openly isolate (as funny as it is) someone who is in a high respected position with command authority no matter how incompetent he or she may be. You either butter them up a bit and give them some small-scale task (while sending someone to keep an eye on them) ...or you strip of their title and lands to avoid the issue all together. Doing what they did here is invitation for trouble down the line.

Yep. I don't care if his father was a saint, he should never have been placed in his position. It's a big empire, there must be a comfortable sinecure somewhere he could have gotten instead. Some way to make him really harmless.
