Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist
The wraparound jacket band on the sixth volume of Utako Yukihiro and Madoka Takadono's Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist manga is announcing on Tuesday that an anime adaptation is in the works. Source The story revolves around William, an aristocratic family's progeny with rare intellect. One day, his uncle lost his possessions after his business failed. Fearing that his family's name has been tarnished, William returns home and searches with his family's butler for anything that can be converted into cash. A search of the premises yields an underground room left by an ancestor. In the room is a magical seal, and William unintentionally summons a devil. The summoned devil tells William his name Dantalion, and reveals that William is the designator who can choose the acting ruler of the demon world.

Great news! I really like William as a character. He is not a pushover, and plenty of LOL moments whenever he tries to rationalize anything that seems supernatural. I can't wait to know who will be voicing him. The artwork is one of the manga's strongest point, so I hope the anime will do justice to that.

As for the seiyuu, after having read some of the manga I kind of hope it's not going to be the "usual suspects"... At least not all of them. I dunno, as much as I like hearing Ono Daisuke & Co, with them this show may be a bit too cookie-cutter. (And some fresh blood never hurts.)

William Twining: Eguchi Takuya
Dantalion: Terashima Takuma http://makai-ouji.com/staff.html I don't really mind Eguchi Takuya as William but the choice for Dantalion....

Hmmm, well, not the "usual suspects" so far, that's good.

By the way, in the meanwhile I've read up to volume 4, and I'm pretty disappointed with the direction the story took. I liked it when it was funny, the serious turn just made it like every other pretentious "angels vs demons" thing ever. :/ If anyone has read further: does it get funny again or is the gloom permanent? Guess I misjudged Terashima.
I don't really know what to make of Chiaki Kon to be honest because she made those terrible adaptations of Umineko and Arcana Famiglia (Higurashi in terms of adaptation wasn't excellent but you can enjoy it if you haven't read the VN unlike the other 2). OTOH I liked Otome Yokai Zakuro and the problems I had with Sekaiichi Hatsukoi were related to the source material itself. Since this isn't a visual novel she has possibilities of not making Makai Ouji a complete disaster but I don't have high hopes of being wonderful either. Quote:
