It was very solid start, with very likely best visuals if season and steam punk settings to boot.

Though it does have one very jarring flaw... It didn't have enough of that red headed wrench wench (jk).

Somehow i knew that half of the people here were going to compare this to AoT, but i don't see much resemblance at all. Good start of the series of course and I hope he ends up with Kajika because i don't really like any of the other females so far.

Yeah, after all it's just a show by the same director, with the same music composer, the same colour palette and rugged out steampunk aesthetic, involving mankind being driven inside fortified walls by an unstoppable zombie-like enemy, with a plucky protagonist bent on reversing the trend and bringing the fight back to the monsters since after his mother was killed by one of them. No similarities at all .

(not that I'm complaining. I like it and I think it might actually end up being BETTER than AoT, also because it doesn't have to be tied by the need to cope with the source material, so possibly we won't get stretched out sequences like the Battle of Trost)

Usually 12-13 episodes, not counting OVAs.

Yeah it's disappointing its gonna be a short ride to the next station, but here's to hoping it won't be a let down the entire way.



Something I don't understand guys, what was the MC trying to do by riveting a metal plate unto his shoulder? I get the straps on his arm but the metal?

That whole sequence was weird, closely followed by the sakuga foot.

I think that was to initially apply pressure to his arm (fastening nails in to make it tighter with the pressure gun thing) so that it doesn't reach past his torso but seems like it spread past it and nearing the neck which was why he put on the neck brace too.


I went into this episode blind and it must say I was impressed from start to finish. Definitely a keeper. Although I'm quite curious about their level of technology. If there are trains, would there be cars? But looking at them using steam technology maybe there's no electricity generator yet? Which is why they use horses too.

I agree. It even hopped across his body to the other side by going thru his heart. It couldn't get to his brain because it didn't know the other pathway in (via the spinal cord).

The pile driver doesn't seem to have a recoil to warrant it as protection though, even when he used explosive/gun powder as its propellant force.

Wouldn't that require the metal plate to be wrapped around his shoulder though? granted finding a metal ring at that time would be difficult. Also those straps would do a better job at applying pressure in his attempt to stop the infection.

My guess is that MC used it as counter weight during his auto-asphyxiation but then again his feet was strapped down and there would be no need to graft it unto his body.

Quite impressed with the pilot (Mumei best gurl ); this will be a definite keeper.

The similarities to Attack on Titan were really striking, but this isn't a bad thing. After all, Attack on Titan was really good and this show shares its quality. It doesn't feel like a mere cheap cash-in.

Not too sold on the main character yet, but I definitely am on Mumei. It looks like she's going to kick a lot of asses.

Maybe he'd grow on me. We'll see.

Mumei's a perfect 10/10, though.

It may not have been. But without a brain to send motor signals or a mouth to bite with (unless you try to pick up the head wrong), it's not nearly as much of a threat.

Art direction and animation are top notch ! Will be watching this one with great interest.
