And the survivors need to relive their fates at the war's end. Or break the cycle and defeat the ghosts of the past.

When you haven't seen it yet, and notice the absence of a certain Onee~Sama.

Are we talking about Sumeragi? I haven't heard from him for a ways (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), but he didn't ever strike me as a Kantai Collection player or fan. Around these parts, Myssa Rei seemed to be more invested into Kantai Collection.

At any rate, this first episode is a fair start, on the other hand: it looks like they're sticking to the srs mode of storytelling, so this time around, so long as they don't add the fluffy slice-of-life stuff and stay focused, we may have a reasonably enjoyable story on our hands.

I was talking about Fusou... You know the long haired one Yamashiro always makes a fuss about when she isn't around.

My apologies and thanks for clarifying. Fusō makes an appearance, unless I’m mixing up my characters. She’s the one who gives Shigure her hair clip.

Super dumb question... is this going to be streaming with subs somewhere officially?

Episode 1

It certainly feel a lot more serious than previous Kancolle anime. I really like the way characters talk and act in the first episode. Shigure is good as MC.

The production quality looks good so far.....let's hope it stays like that until the end. This is ENGI studio production after all.

Great OP and ED.

....................................

The plot is based on Battle of Surigao Strait, I assumed?

Oh...boys.

Not sure what happened here? Why did Shiaratuyu (I seriously couldn't come up with her name and just called her Ichiban for the first half, until I remembered she is the Nameship....) look like she got sent home as in home into a city flat, on a permanent basis, rather than to a repair dock?

I mean we've see shipgirls survive worse.

- So that's where the Fusous' hangars are

- Japan's Navy in the KC universe still suffers from a huge "Condemned to repeat it" issue, I see. repeating old mistakes to the point of even fleet assembly.

I really wish they'd put in some full sized ship-ships from time to time just to show why anyone period would care about the Abyssals at all, even if it's just a freighter.

Ewwww. Okay, well, that's unfortunate. For me; not really for most others.

I only just found out like 2 weeks ago that CrunchyRoll is no longer doing free-with-ads streams. I so rarely watch anime that it just doesn't make sense to pony up for a subscription. I am good with watching an episode a week as something is released, but I really don't just sit down and binge stuff to make a sub worthwhile. Can't remember the last time I even watched multiple series at the same time as they were being released.

Ep.2

This episode was pretty good. The battle was interesting and had me on the edge of my seat. It also successfully made me attach to all main characters now.

If ENGI can keep this level of quality until the end (unlikely..), it might turn out to be better than original anime, action-wise.

With only eight episodes, I'd be more disappointed if they didn't maintain this level of quality in writing and animation.

The action is holding up pretty well. And definitely continuing to hammer home how grueling a fight this is. They are paying for every inch they move forward.

I wonder if other girls in Shigure group will actually get 'de-commissioned' and left the base or they are still going to be around after this.

I think they are just sent for heavy repairs or something. An actual de-commission makes little sense with both movie and Season 1 lore.

The other issue is that the girls clearly aren't human, so letting them run free in society will likely not work. Unless they are going Batman-like dark with the Naka-scrapping meme here.

Bad news, 3 weeks delay due to 'production issue'
https://twitter.com/anime_KanColle/s...21013680664576

Episode 4 will air on 15th December.

...............

Typical ENGI, I guess. I hope Ep.4-8 will end up looking good at least.

After taking down that monstrosity, I would’ve thought the fourth episode would be a breather of sorts.

Well, if there is any doubt left, the fashion and the urban environment shows it take place in Showa era. The other thing, we finally have a face for the Admiral, not a girl, not a shota, not a spiky haired protag and much less a generic light novel protag. A man likely in his 30s, which is cool.
