Has there been any Psycho-Pass merchandise released yet, or to be released? How quick are they usually for shows like this?

Urobuchi Gen equates serial murder and beauty so often in his fiction that it’s impossible for me to believe that he doesn't see a sort of beauty in horrible violence himself – at the very least, he’s fascinated by the way it tempts humanity with its siren song, and about what makes most of us able to resist the urge while others cannot.

any ideas?
That was my query too, but I think it will be much difficult to prove his involvement as an accomplice. While we see him actively giving out resource and even helping the murderers with tools and set-ups, how is the court going to prove he did those things? Psycho Pass enforcers are already onto the idea that someone is actively helping, but the trail is cold to lead them to him.

Now going back to this show, the enforcers won't have to deal with our conventional court system because they are pretty much wielding powers like those judges in the movie Judge Dread. As long as the gun picks up certain level of reading, it will determine the level of force required to deal with such individual. And that brings to my next query... will he even register certain level required for any kind of enforcement? We don't even know if there were such precedents in the Sibyl System and if there were, how those type of individual were dealt with?

Won't be too surprised if he is on the news someday because he is wearing a necklace made out of human ears.

I consider it a fascination with control. A fascination of the control over life and death. The ability to take someone's life at a whim, and being given suddenly the intoxicating power to do just that and executing it immediately.

The freedom to do what you want, whether it's a career or a base bloodlusting desire. That's what I see here and in a lot of Urobucher's villains, main or otherwise, as they explore that "high" of no longer being merely a human constrained in your own mortality, but also being able to control the mortality of others. Exercising that desire to go beyond being "merely human." It's sort of probably Urobucher's sordid take on the Ubermensch.

My take on Makishima's intentions is not merely a delight in empowering the criminal insane. Rather, he wants to observe the actions people will take in a society that is extremely controlled and limitedly empowered by an all encompassing system. That is to say, I think is intention is to itself "study" what amounts to a very Rosseau-an "man in the state of nature", where before the social contract of the Sibyl System is in place man is allowed and empowered to choose anything and everything he wants without limit or control. He "empowers" these people who are forced to suppress their desires to act out.

Edit - I think I'll post a longer version of this in the philosophy thread.

yes...similar to that but in this case to maintain people support of sybil...but is makishima still doing its job as "agent" to make sure the system works or now already betray the system like mr.smith...who knows

It's something to think about. Time will tell if you're on to something.

Meanwhile,

I see why the play was not part of my literature syllabus in school.

To expand on the theme of revenge, and as a side comment to MeoTwister5's observations, this is a part of the introduction to Titus Andronicus from my copy of Shakespeare's complete works:
Quote:
By Robert Maslen

...The power of the play derives in part from its relentless use of the body as the space, in which tyranny operates. The chief emblem of the agony of the Roman people is Titus' daughter, Lavinia, whose name associates her with the wife of Aeneas, the founder of Rome. She is first rejected as wife by Saturninus, then raped by his stepsons, who cut out her tongue and lop off her hands as a graphic illustration of the silencing of opposition and protest under tyranny.

The rest of the Andronici suffer different mutilations: the sons of Titus lose their heads for a crime they did not commit, while Titus, finding his verbal appeals for mercy ignored, is tricked into cutting off his own hand in the belief that this will persuade the judges to spare the condemned men.

Meanwhile, Saturninus marries Titus' old enemy, Tamora, queen of the Goths. Together with her black lover Aaron, Tamora sets about demonstrating what a fine line separates Roman from Goth, "civilisation" from "barbarism".

Complete Works of William Shakespeare: The Alexander Text, HarperCollins Publishers, 1994
The references to Titus Andronicus may well have been inspired by the themes I highlighted above in bold.

I wouldn't have guessed that from a girl who shot her own enforcer on her first case, but between this and her friends marveling at her "psychological beauty" in episode 2, this show sure does like to keep giving us reminders that she's a marvel of mental stability. I'm sure this will not come into play later.
Oh yes, I'm also sure it won't come into play later.

I suspect the gist of narrative is to touch upon how everyone is a criminal by circumstance which by implication will be taken to show the facade of morality as typically assumed apparent from the normality of society.

No sane person would help others commit such atrocious murders, Makishima's CC must definitely be high enough for enforcement. The Sibyl system is really simple now that I think about it... you don't need to bother proving a man is guilty, so long as he has a high enough CC, he will be convicted or executed. Court of laws probably aren't even dealing with criminal matters anymore. The dominator acts as judge and jury, and the enforcers as executioners.

Umm but what if his CC isnt high? I mean, the CC will get high when you are depressed or having some killing intents, right? But what makishima did is just giving ideas and helping the murderer, he never kills nor want to kill,he's having fun doing that.

A regular hue check probably wouldn't be able to detect anything wrong with him, but an examination by the Sibyl system through the denominator would (same scenario as episode 3). It seems to me that the crime coefficient takes more into account than intent to kill or depression, the subject's entire psyche is examined. If a person has any kind of abnormal thoughts, it will be detected. Makishima is definitely not normal.

If not, they probably have ways to get even more accurate reading. Like pointing a dominator at them and asking "so, hypothetically, would you help someone to commit murder?"

In the current case we got at least 2 victim already...and I really hope they are smart enough to capture her alive before she most possibly...since her favorite character Lavinia...commit suicide by making herself into statue herself or being shot by dominator

It's a CRIME coefficient, not a HOMICIDE coefficient. Wanting to help people murder people is enough to qualify as a crime, like "conspiracy to commit murder."

Er, you mean someone's whose under the latent criminal threshold fearing they'll go over the limit?

Well, let's see the situation without Sibyl:
A girl is frustrated that her real dad left them in some much debt that they depend on a 'benefactor'.
The 'benefactor' is obviously a pedophile (making his "presence" in her room), but she cannot accuse him or cut him out because he is solving their money issues.
She starts feeling cornered, and as a act of desperation goes and kills him.

Explain how there's a 'win' scenario in the situations with or without Sibyl?
Unfortunately, Sibyl cuts the last step so I guess you can say the fact she kills him is a bigger win, so it takes a crime to dish out justice...?

How about we imagine this:

What if, by some means, Makishim's Psycho Pass parameters suddenly come out as normal? Thus forcing the bureau to find him without Dominators?

That would be one hell of a twist.
