worst in a moral sense such as the most evil character?
worst in the sense of a most useless and inane character?

Worst main chara :

Pain, Riku, Yuna in FFX-2 : No, just no.
Vaan in FF12 : Sorry Vaan but you're useless

Worst bad guy because there are just a big joke :

LeBlanc family in FFX-2 : No, just no (anyway the whole game is no just no ).

Vaan is the highest damage dealing main character of all FF, I'm not sure how useless is that.

Unless you're specifically pointing at FFXII normal version only.

@Sheba: I'm no KOF fan, but you can have some form of explanation for why Bao is that bad, I've seen quite alot of fans of the kid.

The thread starter's intentions don't seem to be character bashing, but to point out real evil villians and such.

Almost every character from Fate/Stay Night.

... Are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head, sorry if I spelled any names wrong but I'm far too tired to look them all up and make sure I got them right. =|

After playing the Heavens Feel route in Fate/Stay Night, I have an exceptional loathing towards Matou Sakura. Unlike the other routes, in which you and the lead girl worked towards a goal, most of the Heavens Feel route is spend playing the 'pity poor little Sakura' card. Cute, and if that's your cup of tea feel free to indulge, but at the end of the route I didn't feel an ounce of pity towards her.

She managed to regain some points in the final day in the game, due to the events that took place, but in the end I simply fail to see why Sakura is so popular among fans.

I don't see that at all... from what I can tell, pretty much the entire Western fandom hates her guts.

I honestly think she SHOULD be pitied, given the hell her life was up until she met Shirou... but she isn't why I find Heaven's Feel interesting. It's the wonderful mindfuck that is the entire route that I find interesting.

I honestly can't say I've ever really HATED a video game character. There are some I found annoying, but...

Oh wait, Sodia in Tales of Vesperia. But you're supposed to hate her. So that doesn't make her a bad character.

On Kyou... that's exactly the reason I hate Ryou.

I'm kinda seeing a few spoilers here, some of these things really should be tagged.

Anyway, about Sakura Matou, I don't think she was one of the worst characters ever or even close to it, and I really did feel bad for her, but I do not understand at all why so many people love her.

Oh, and can't forget Arnaud from Wild Arms 4. That scene where he ran and hid from that vampire boss, literally cowering behind a box shivering, will forever be my image of him and totally killed the character for me in an instant.

There's a lot more but that's all I care to post for now until more people chime in.

Terrible design, terrible gameplay that kept on getting worse by the games (giving chainable command attacks to a character meant to keep people the hell away? Pleeeeaase), and he is as out of place in KoF as Harry Potter in Hokuto no Ken. Oh, and did I say the sickening obsession of doujin artists over him?
If you say he have a lot of fans, I'll just say he is the most polarizing character of the series. Because it is either like him or hate him.

In other games, I'd point to Ramsus from Xenogears, I was torn between feeling a bit of pity toward him or just plain hating his guts.

Now, the worst in term of morality and evil, like omg so evil Hitler cried, I'll answer Shodan from System Shock 2. Just thinking about her is making me scared shitless.

Cloud from FFVII - classic case of why you shouldn't try to garner too much attention on your emo self

Estelle Bright from Legend of Heroes VI Sora no Kiseki - I expected more from the rather rare case of a strong female party leader. Winded up spending most of her time chasing after her boyfriend that ran off.

Okazaki Tomoya from Clannad - probably the main reason why I've been putting off playing/watching Clannad. Acts sweet around girls, but a jerk to everyone else. Need I say more?

Emiya Shirou from Fate/Stay Night - idealistically naive red-head with god mode constantly on, making canon death nearly impossible. Shame he didn't die in UBW.

Riki from Little Busters! - Why did he have to look/sound so...feminine. One of the few cases where I couldn't help but turn a main character's voice off. Talk about character disillusionment after playing as him for so long.

Personally, i think that some characters you guys posted are not really that worst in overall. If the main topic was to say that "you guys just post your hated/worst char" then i'm out and very sorry because it's no use for me to argue with your personal thinking.

Anyway, about Sakura Matou, I don't think she was one of the worst characters ever or even close to it, and I really did feel bad for her, but I do not understand at all why so many people love her. Spoiler for heavens feel: All the hype about her made me think she was going to end up being this totally unstoppable force but she was a lot weaker than I expected. Also her final confrontation with Rin ended really fast and felt really anticlimactic, especially since it was mirrored in that silly bondage arc in the anime. As for my worst characters, Shirley Fennes from Tales of Legendia Spoiler for ToL: Trying to start a romance with Senel despite him being in love with her sister, and then moving in on him immediately after said sister's death. Tacky. And then decides to kill everyone when he doesn't return her feelings. Awesome. And she still continues to show violent overprotective tendencies when another female so much as looks at Senel, even after she "returns to being good" and joins your party. Petty, selfish, and psycho, totally hate her. Jack Russell from Radiata Stories Spoiler for RS: Quite possibly the dumbest character ever in the literal sense of the word. I don't tend to "rp" much when playing rpgs but it was seriously hard to even be willing to control this guy. Gets totally swept up in the events of the game and is totally incapable of making decisions for himself, and even when he does make that one really important decision, it's a choice between ridiculous absolutes and only helps to further the main conflict in the game, as opposed to trying to assist both sides in stopping the fight. Oh and it was priceless when he got mad at the end boss for killing the racist warmongering jerk who started the entire conflict in the first place. Oh and the whole "You monster, you killed Ridley too despite the fact that she was allowing herself to be swept away by 'destiny' and was going to obliterate all of humanity. Saving the human race?! Not on my watch!" I mean, I guess I can understand that if he really really loved her, but he didn't think that way about it, in his words it was just that the dragon was bad for killing the girl he was kind of friends with and who totally wasn't doing anything wrong. Was really the first time in a jrpg that I have ever considered the final boss the good guy and my character the bad guy. Oh, and can't forget Arnaud from Wild Arms 4.
