Eren has been pretty mentally unstable for most of the series so far, its just that we have been overlooking it with excuses of "he was traumatized" or "he has the right attitude for being a solider (not really)". We finally see what happens because of his mental instability, and it was not pretty at all.

The episode itself thought I felt was great, pacing was good and lead you in one direction thinking things would go well and then BAM everythings ruined. Thing is, the whole "they are about to get wrecked" ending shouldn't even be that shocking by how quick the Titans were just running through the city as they pleased, every time there was a battle update the humans had lost another line.

Eh, he was plenty stable thoughout the episode (the only one really). Even Mikasa started to freak out.

Actually the everything went to hell when Thomas died. Honestly going by Eren's prior assessment of the situation earlier (too many Titans around) they were all going to die either by ambush like Thomas or otherwise.

Let's be honest, it wouldn't have made much of a difference... probably.
If you hadn't noticed, the whole front line made of more experienced soldiers than them was almost completely annihilated.

But he didn't do that against the Colossal Titan and he has bigger grudge with it than anyone else. Eren just didn't expect his friend to die so suddenly.

The different here is that we massacre a whole lot of BETA before they overwhelm us. Here, a single titan can wipe out a whole platoon of soldiers, newly trained cadet or experienced recon team alike.



What is more depressing is we haven't been shown even a single titan killed yet. Sure, we did knock a few of them down with cannon but it seem they come back up right away.

As I suspect, Human fighting method, this dual sword spiderman, is not working at all I hope we can find new method soon before we go extinct for real lol

Dude he nearly puked when he was talking about the regular titan but was talking about the collosal and armored titan(the main suspects of the fall of wall maria) with ease

Anyway, this episode is a pure shocker. It's kind of expected that the titans would prevail over humans in this episode. Still, I kind of hoped that Eren's team at least had a chance in damaging the titans, but alas...

Well, here's hoping Eren and at least a few of his team members are still alive...

Oh, and the strange sudden appearances and disappearances of the Colossal and Armored Titans kind of make me wonder if a human is actually behind their sudden appearances and disappearances. That seems like a possibility to me ~ ~.

I would like you guys to come up with better fighting methods though, since the only weakness is at the back of their neck. The most important thing is to be able to get around them quickly.

To damage there you need 2 options

1) Melee attack, which is what they have right now.
2) Highly accurate projectile weapons with quick reload time and no extra burden in the ammunition

True, I'm just saying that he didn't forget his 3 years of training. He handled the Colossal as well as anyone could and quickly figure out it's traits and such in a very hectic situation. Yeah sure you can rag on him for not handling his emotions better when Thomas died, but pretty much everyone being like that in this episode. They're just kids fresh out of military afterall.

Their loss has nothing to do with this. The city was ambushed and the Titans got the drop on them hard. Even in real life, ambushes usually end with ambushees getting decimated.

Well, the ending is getting most of the discussion as one would expect.

However, I think the biggest eye-raiser this episode was the revelation that their society censors books about the outside.

I'd go with dynamite attached to harpoons, personally.
Get one guy in 3D gear to distract them, have another one use some kind of crossbow or gas propelled gun to hit their neck. Now if you even give them half the accuracy that the 3D gear has you're all right.

The explosives can be ignited before the throw, they can even have several minutes delay fuse, the Titans aren't smart enough to remove them.

Aye, despite repeated pleas not to compare manga with the anime, plenty of people remain stubbornly inconsiderate and continue to do so. They simply refuse to accept that it's too easy to drop inadvertent spoilers that way. Even if they don't do so directly,it's very easy to bait others into giving things away by accident when they discuss the point.

Such things happen all the time and reporting the posts don't help much if you've already seen the spoiler by accident. Episodes like this one can be so easily ruined by idiots who don't think twice about spoiling the fun for anime-only viewers.

What can I say? Avoid the forums as far as possible and come in only at your own risk. I've been doing so most of the time.

There are plenty of Titans there, he just happened to be at the right spot at the right time.
