This animated entry in the "Star Wars" franchise fills the gap between the events of "Episode III" and "Episode IV." Imperial forces occupy a remote planet and are ruling -- and ruining -- its inhabitants' lives with an iron fist. A clever, disparate crew aboard the starship Ghost takes a stand against the Empire, facing new villains and colorful adversaries. The rebels on the Ghost include leader Kanan, ace pilot Hera, feisty heroine Sabine, tough guy Zeb and 14-year-old con artist Ezra.

I thought it was about time this got a thread.

HOLY SHIT!, Kanan is now blind (like a certain character from The Force Unleashed), Maul is basically a cockroach as in this guy doesn't die (he does have the best plot armor in the form of the fanbase), Ashoka is dead and Ezra is turning into a Dark Jedi/Sith... once again, HOLY SHIT!.

Well, after this episode the theorist are going to have a field day with what all of this could mean for Episode 8 onwards and whatever was happening in the background of the other movies.

Well....That will change a bunch of stuff.

Season Three will likely build up towards Rogue One and A New Hope. So probably the formation of the Rebel Alliance and the discovery of the Death Star.

But the Light Side/Dark Side plot will continue.

I wouldn't say Ahsoka is dead. If you watch closely after Vader leaves the temple and the owl flies away, you see a person walking deeper into the Sith temple. I'm assuming that person is Ahsoka. That or it's just symbolism of her moving on to the afterlife and become a force ghost. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah the ending. It is hard to tell how much happened at the end and how much was symbolism.

We'll find out, some day. If characters return.

I wonder how long the complaints about this being too kiddie will continue verse the Clone Wars. Because that got dark this episode. And I imagine it will stay dark until just before the dawn....the Battle of Yavin and A New Hope. But I half suspect a lot of the crew to be dead by then, or at least by Endor. War is rough and if Yoda was right, the last of the Jedi was Luke. But also the last of the Sith end at Endor. (though not all Force users are Sith or Jedi)

If the Sith ended during the Battle of Endor, then Maul's plot armor will have to be cut short in season 3 or 4. Seriously, I know he got a small appearance in TPM, but prolonging his inevitable death is pretty hilarious. Though he did make for some good dark side entertainment during the season finale, so I guess we can keep him alive for a little longer.

Never tose out something good, unless you have the ability to reuse it later to your advantage.

I see a lot of old ideas coming to life in this show.

I see something new, something Who, and someone blue.

Also how cool is it top get Tom Baker (The Doctor) to do a booming larger than life type character?

I have heard a lot about Thrawn. Hopefully he won't disappoint when he makes his own screen debut.

If they make him as calculating as the novels, and even when he fails gets some of his objective done, he will be just fine. Most times he fails it is due to an unexpected element injected into the carefully crafted plan. That doesn't mean a person expected to be their does something unpredicted, but someone not expected to be their interferes.

And let's be honest. For all their "quirks", our ragtag bunch is fairly predictable, so Thrawn is pretty much the worst possible opponent. What saves them will probably come down to something one of the secondary characters (like Chopper or Hondo) does, or maybe even a surprise third party (Wedge, Lando, etc.). Hopefully it's not the usual "I've got a bad feeling in the Force, so I'm going to do something different".

No, it's not heaven without whole holy trinity. We need Mara show hetself too. But yeah I can't wait seeing Thrawn myself.

That said I don't expect new trilogy remain canon for long.

Good first episode of the season, and very much a "first episode" kind of episode. The episode plot was resolved by the end, but so, so many new plot lines opened up for the rest of the season and potentially beyond. Ezra's slide toward the Dark Side, first and foremost, but also the Bendu, Kanan's recovery, the Holocron, Hondo, Kallus bristling at Thrawn's "civilian casualties", and of course the (blue) man himself. Looks like it's going to be a fun ride...

I suspect Maul next week with more holocron shenanigans. Though that also mean more Bendu, and Tom Baker's booming voice.

We'll be visiting Tatooine this season. And that both of them saw what they wanted to see, and it was more or less the same thing. Or at least was in the same place. Interesting to note that while there are a number of reasons why it would mess up the continuity for Han or Luke to get involved with the crew of the Ghost, Obi-Wan Kenobi is a different story altogether, as long as his presence on Tatooine stays secret to all but a few people (like Leia Organa, who the Ghost crew have met and, according to released images, will see again this season).

Wondering if we'll see an episode later this year that plays on the "A New Hope" title...

I seem to recall an older legends tale where Darth Maul went to Tatooine for revenge against Kenobi. I think that was also were the Clone Wars team got the insperation for his first set of mechanical legs.
