Maybe in book 10, Kyon regrets his decision and asks Yuki for the alternate world she made

No, apparently that's for all the emos who wish Haruhi was generic shoujo. The fact that the only group still scanlating it has "yaoi" in their name tells you all you need to know. *runs away*

Someone on their scanning team is a psychic and knows that it will eventually turn into alt!Koizumi x Kyon?

Well, damn. I've been thinking about Nagato Yuki-chan all wrong!

Seeing how the new book is titled,

The Surprise of Suzumiya Haruhi, maybe the 'surprise' in the title

comes from the fact that Kyon wakes up to find...

EVERYONE GENDER BENT!

That would be The Surprise of Kyon, don't you think?

Actually, the Sighs of Haruhi Suzumiya is more like "Sighs of Kyon", you know. Similarly, the "Intrigues" in Intrigues of Haruhi Suzumiya barelly include her. Same thing for Dissociation . It is not clear to me for what the last one refer, but I would bet on Kyon.

'Haruhi Suzumiya' is going to be in the title regardless if it make sense or not.

Reasons for "Haruhi Suzumiya" being in the title:

a) Haruhi is the name of the fanchise/title
b) Tanigawa got lazy and titles his documents by "save as" and changing the title name.
c) Haruhi is the prime cause of all of the happenings.
d) a and b
e) b and c
f) a and c
g) a, b and c
h) None of the above
i) All of the above
j) I don't got a j
k) a, c and e
l) I'm just bored.
m) f, a, i, and l
n) Hey this item 14 in the list, that's new, for me anyways.
.
.
.
aa) Hey look, list item aa!

Anyways, back to on-topicness. Many titles seem to make more sense when considered from Kyon or other characters. Sighs applies to Kyon but I think if from Haruhi's perspective, the beginning and the lack of interest generated from Kyon or something.

Er.... How about that movie? I thought that was amazing that it was announced.

Sucks that we'll probably have to wait 'till it comes on DVD, I think.

Seeing how I have never bought an anime DVD before, I got a question; will the DVD have subs already included, or will we just be able to view the movie as it is (without any clue what they're saying)?

Well, for those who have read the novel can get the main gist of what's going on, but IDK if they'll have subs or not..

I'm pretty sure they have subs on them in the US along with Engrish dubbing, but IDK about the ones in Japan. I would say, there are Japanese subs, but not necessarily Engrish subs. The prime audience in Japan is well Japanese. I doubt the producers would bother with adding the sub of a language that doesn't have a large minority of first language users in Japan.

I'm not really sure I want a male Yuki. Or a male Haruhi, for that matter

I love Kyonko and female Koizumi as much as anyone... But lets not make the awesome females male

Exactly! This poses a situation; will Kyon (or being gender-bent, Kyonko) automatically leave the room when Mikuru is changing, if she doesn't know Kyonko is originally a guy?!

Stay tuned.

I'd actually have to say that, given what she was doing, the title is rather appropriate. Of course, you might have to ignore that s at the end, but no one said it has to be there anyway.

It is a definite that the R1 DVD for North America will have subs at least and most likely will have some dubbing. The R2 may have subs since the 2009 ones did, but they are more expensive, so you might have to wait. Likely fansubs will come out when the R2 comes out, so you can wait.

Actually the 2009 releases have English subtitles (with a few errors) and no Japanese subtitles. I don't think I've seen many DVD releases have the Japanese subtitles before. I very well could be wrong, but I haven't seen one yet.
