Episode 1 is out on Crunchyroll.

This looks great so far. The setting looks so natural with the amount of content. The stone turning scenes also looked eerie.

Along with the main characters, we meet Senku (that shirt...I see what they did there) and he's quite an fascinating young man with his curious mind + personality. It pretty much sets up for rest of the season with the invention type of gags from the episode.

Taiju is also pretty funny to watch. I also find the music choice kinda clever for this.

That was a solid first episode. It went by quickly and established the setting well enough. On some levels certainly a horror show with people smashed to pieces and planes crashing. I doubt the show would touch it, but an interesting topic of who you should bring back. Some are just done for. But someone with their smashed could still in theory be revived. But you probably wouldn't want to do it until civilization was re-established. Going to need hospitals to take care of individuals in that case.

The leads are likable enough. They've got energy to them. I'm curious what will be done with Yuzuriha. No doubt she'll be revived as soon as next episode. But how will her character factor into the group dynamic and plot is what I'm more curious about. Will she add something besides just being Taiju's love interest?

But that was a solid first episode. I wasn't blown away, but I did enjoy it.

BTW, what was the trick in the end. They have been pouring lots of the etching solution to presumably break the shell but it didn't work in the hut. So what was different with the feather and that last bird? Is it exposure to sunlight? But then that wouldn't have worked on the Brawn-kun...

It is quite good but there sure isn't much to comment with only two characters appearing in 20 minutes. I mean, the final scene felt like progress but focused on just birds

I don’t know but for the opening yuzuriha seems that she won’t wake up that easily.

It was a good first chapter.

Crazy hair aside it was a pretty interesting first ep overall. One to keep an eye on I think.

I've been looking forward to this show a lot, this is one of my favorite ongoing manga series at the moment. Considering the grim setting (the show starts with human civilization wiped out) its actually funny much of the time.

Taiju's just the standard idiot hero lead but science genius Senku is a nice change of pace. Arrogant, apparently a walking encyclopedia but still pretty nice (and ambitious about saving humanity). And a lot of the science is relatively accurate (alcohol, edible stuff, etc.), a nice bonus.

Pretty good first episode, although they're mostly still setting things up. When its just Senku and Taiju they get a bit boring (Senku explains, Taiju does the grunt work), but with their discovery at the end, things will change after that.

This is kind of boring. So I guess I'm watching this to the end to find out how they stayed alive in the stone shells for 3700 years huh. I think one ep is good enough for me.

The transition from modern to post-apocalyptic setting was a bit clunky due to Taiju thoughts taking away from some of the tone, but otherwise a very good first episode. Probably the best of 3 I watched today. The ramport and chemistry between Senkou and Taiju is quite nice even if nothing we have seen before. The heavy focus on survivalism and science does great job keeping interests how the duo will come discover what to caused the worldwide petrifaction to happen.

Compared to other two big summer shows that came out today Dr.Stone'ds OP is the strongest musically among them, but Fire Force and Granblem, have better animation sequence. Still pretty solid on it's own tho.

That was a good first episode. It was mostly set up and the story does take a while to find its stride in the beginning, but it becomes a fun ride once it has found it.

Hmm...so you want to beat science with fantasy? Well, what about tackling the first and most important issue the show conveniently failed to address?

What I'm talking about are the "living" minds of those entrapped in stone. If they could think, their brains were functioning, and for that, their cells needed to metabolize, but they had no sustenance and no water for all that time. So scientifically, none of them should have survived past a week (3 days without water), let alone a year, let alone 3700 years.

If we play along with the show's "logic", what happens to the statues that were less fortunate? The ones in pieces, with a head here, and a body over there. Are those people still "alive"? Will they die once the stone cracks because their body parts are not altogether?

Too many scientific plotholes already, but I'll watch for entertainment purposes.
