Quite different from what I usually do. This OC's purpose is still unknown. I'll probably use her for experimental light-hearted shorts with other people's OCs and some CCs, but I still think she has the potential for something serious.

The planet Ylouis could be considered her homeworld, but it isn't completely certain. She originates from a facility researching cloning, weapons and various cyborg technologies, where she either was brought to during her first year of life or where she was cloned from another animal.

Regardless of her origin, she served as the test subject in various research operations with the goal to create a new type of hybrid-cyborg weapon. Each test and completion was a success, but it was a short-lived glory for the scientists and the shadowy figures financing the project.

Two years after she appeared at the facility, local police agencies found out about its location and purpose, and together with other authorities successfully infiltrated it and shut it down, destroying the research and apprehending a large part of its staff.

They had, however, missed the existence of Lynx and she appeared on the black market for a hefty price only a few weeks later from an unknown seller. A billionaire, going by the pseudonym Alcazer, reportedly bought her for "research" reasons. At the time, Lynx was a broken half-animal-half-weapon, with her right arm missing, her left hand destroyed and the inside of her ears partly disconfigured, rendering her completely deaf.

From there on, Lynx lived a fairly happy life, as Alcazer turned out to be a nice old man living his life in an exclusive villa on Ylouis. The two established a master-servant relationship, he being a powerful mage and allowing her to become his familiar. His magic helped her regenerate the broken parts of herself, except for her hearing, and she seemed to react strongly to the magical essence, activating the processes put into her at the facility.

This state of life that could have passed as normal lasted for three years. One early morning Lynx woke up to an undisturbed house. As her master usually got up early she found this peculiar and started to search for him.

It soon became evident that Alcazer had disappeared without a trace. She still felt their connection, but she couldn't send any telepathy nor had she felt any disturbances during the night. Even more strange, she felt much stronger than the past evening, which she concluded might be because of an increased stream of magic between the two. As long as their bond wasn't broken, she knew neither of them had been killed. On the other hand, she could drop dead any second if Alcazer's life was ended.

Lynx therefore did the only sensible thing she could think of; she left the villa to search for Alcazer, to wherever her master might be.

Spoiler for Personality:

Lynx rarely talks verbally, but that's because she's deaf. To people whom she can't communicate telepathically with, she might therefore come across as ignorant or nonchalant, with her general indifferent expression not helping her cause.

Otherwise she is quite talkative, ranging from a wide spectrum of interests, with the most obvious being a fascination for tall people and oranges. She can, to a certain degree, read lips, but still depends mainly on telepathy. That way she avoids a lot of misinterpretations. However, her "speech" is still slightly restricted, incapable of forming more advanced sentences although she do know advanced words. She speaks short and to the point.

Regardless of her slightly relaxed private persona, in a dangerous situation she kills that side off and becomes more analytical and cold. Holding the senses of a cat, aside from hearing, she excels at infiltration and ambushing enemies with the cover of darkness.

She shows certain bias from person to person and take special care about those she considers close to her. While this isn't unusual for anyone, it's to what extent she does it that might be considered bordering on evil for other people. In other words, one shouldn't expect help from her on her own accord unless one knows her personally. The only reason why she would help someone else is if it benefits herself, those she knows or if she's told to do so. She would only stand by while someone dies, with indifference glaring from her face.

She can also, at certain times, be sarcastic and mean, although it's mostly in good spirit. She isn't easily embarrassed either and never lies, with brutal honesty as a side-effect.

She prefers being awake during the night than the day, to utilize her nature of a cat more skillfully.

Magic Preserving Form: A black cat, with a big similarity to the Norwegian Forest Cat.

Animal Combat Form: Carries a striking resemblance to the Eurasian Lynx, although with pitch black fur. It's also most probably the source of her name. This form is mostly broken due her origin.

Humanoid Form: Clad in total black, with something akin to a uniform. Her thick black hair covers her small cat ears, although they are still visible. A sleek black tail is also visible, but only when she accidentally let it show, either due to hard-to-contain happiness or something else.

Her humanoid form is broken, but mostly in its outward appearance, hardly affecting her abilities. Her left hand, for instance, is replaced by a mechanical claw-like appendage (somewhat held together with magic) to make up for her lack of flesh, while her right arm is only a fragmented aura of magical energy that cannot find any connection with itself, forming a shapeless cloud.

She can by will form it into a preset solid shape however, usually creating a long-range automatic magical rifle hybrid, although she can create a melee weapon as well. This is due to the successful weapons research done to her on Ylouis.

Spoiler for Abilities:

Her animal combat form is almost entirely useless, only efficient in melee combat. Thanks to the early termination of her research on Ylouis, any abilities she could have had in this form doesn't work correctly. She still knows how to execute them, but the risk of backfiring and damage herself is a too great risk. Worth mentioning is that in all forms she is deaf. This seems to be a terminal side-effect from the research that Alcazer's magic couldn't fix.

In her humanoid form, the most prominent ability is the one mentioned above; the long-range automatic magical rifle hybrid of unknown origin. With a speed of about five magical rounds per minute with high accuracy, it's an effective anti-personnel weapon that can also be used against lightly armored vehicles at long-range. It's however quite heavy and almost useless in close quarters combat. Lynx doesn't hold it traditionally, since it's a part of her body, but she does at times support it with her left claw when need be.

To make up for the lack of close combat possibilities she has also been given a melee weapon, with the pretty simplistic design of a double-edged sword that replaces the magical rifle at will. It's much lighter and easier to handle, but lacks power unless she gets the upper hand. It's best suited for ambushes.

Further abilities are all related to stealth, such as;

Silent Walk: Lynx's movements becomes almost completely silent, using magic to dampen sound waves.
Feline Glare: Giving her night-vision and improved eyesight in general. Very useful for scouting dark areas. This is close to being a passive skill as she continuously use it.
Soft Dance: Lynx can jump abnormally high and fall from great heights without trouble. In a combination with Silent Walk, she can perform a multitude of air jumps or aerobatic moves to get to hard-to-reach locations without being heard.
Distraction Call: Using ventriloquism enhanced by magic, she can produce various noises from multiple directions to confuse or distract an enemy.
Void Stepper: For emergencies, this provides her with a cloak for a few seconds, rendering her invisible, allowing her a chance to escape.

Has anyone else noticed that the visor Einheart was wearing before her fight with Nove looks an awful lot like the visors the Mariage wear?

Also, do we have strength estimates for Vivio and Einheart? I'm thinking neither of them are quite at S-rank material yet, since Nove managed to get a Double K.O. out of Einheart...

Well, I'm not sure how true that is. I mean it can be both a serious thing and humor, but essentially just a weakness /handicap of sorts for a certain brash red head OC I am building. Check my story archive for Fury Tempest, anyways as Spacebrotha pointed out, militaries would not employ an epileptic soldier, but alas the TSAB ain't your usual military, so beats me.

Last thing a commander wants is a person having a fit and needing a medivac in the middle of a hot zone. The rest can fight through that hot zone first.

Like I said, that depends entirely on what you want to use it for. If it's merely as a weakness, then have it show up at dramatic moments.

Last I heard, Epilepsy was not a condition that you had the option of predicting when it will break out, let alone be controlled. Unlike your listed examples, epilepsy is not something you can negate by choice alone, so if it hits in the middle of combat...

...you won't be too pretty a sight, but rest assured you'll be a pretty target, so you get to die...

...half pretty. Sounds like a good deal.

And on a more serious note, I actually know people with epilepsy. It's a fair strain on normal life when it occurs chronically, but it isn't a monolithic disease - most CAN be controlled with medication, though not all very well, and some people just freaking grow out of it.

Some syndrome types have a *trigger*, though, and I guess this you can use at your discretion if you will...although one very common trigger is flashing light, which is seriously a bad idea for a TSAB operative.

First, your OC's design. I understand you want her to be a combat type. If you want to give her such a handicap as epilepsy (I'll assume it actually shows up from time to time) and yet the TSAB uses her in combat, I recommend that you give her something nice like S-rank combat capability.

The TSAB bites a lot of bullets, but only if the mage has something to offer. If your redhair is average or a bit above average...

Another standard tactic is to make the epilepsy pretty latent - it occurs very rarely, so it is more a ticking time bomb. Your redhair fudges her way past screening, training and missions without bumping into the triggers, but she knows it is there. You can then write some nice, fuzzy stuff about why she feels to obliged to join the force anyway...

Yeah the beam spam flashing lights thing was my line of thought when I mentioned serious/humor. Her own attacks and fast movements won't trigger it, but energy attacks with a lot of color variation might. Vivio's attacks for sure. Hmm. Thanks for the input ^^.
