Sea, ships and submarines

Well, I'm looking for any anime (old/new, movies, series, ova) that features the sea, ships and submarines or indeed anything to do with sailing, diving, voyages, exploration etc, to a greater degree (i.e. more than one episode and preferably as a central theme). Fantasy or realistic I don't mind as long as it's good.

Ones I've seen are:

TideLine Blue
Blue Sub 6
Future Boy Conan
Kenran Butoh Sai ~ Mars Daybreak
Nadia ~ Secret of Blue Water
Innocent Venus
Aria The Animation/Aria The Natural

I know of these (but not particularly interested):

Daphne In The Brilliant Blue
One Piece

Thanks in advance chaps

Zipang. It's a serious anime, about modern ships that goes back in time.

Submarine 707R. It's a two episode OAV, and each of the two is an hour long, so it's more like a two part feature film. Licensed.

Excellent, that's just the sort of thing I'm after. Thanks, I'll check it out

Hmm...I did see one episode of that, the excessive fanservice put me off though.

Ah yes, I/ve watched some of that but I classed that as more war drama, but good suggestion

Starship Operators features spaceship action. It has 13 eps. and is licensed
Crest of The Stars and Banner of The Stars I, II, and III - I definitely recommend you watching all of them if you're a fan of spaceship action with romance and stuffs. Crest of The Stars and Banner of The Stars I and II were licensed. The 3rd Banner of The Stars is an OVA and out as a sub

I thought about suggesting Starship Operators, since it's such an amazing piece of work, but I didn't simply because it's not set at sea. However, I will second the suggestion anyway because, as I said, it's an amazing show (be prepared for tears too, it's a heartwrencher and doesn't hold any punches back, which is part of what makes it so great.)

Oh! When he said ships I thought he didn't mean just naval ships or something like that, so I recommended spaceships instead Still, if you look at it in a different view, space is like a sea anyway no?

2nd Submarine 707R. Was bummed it was so short. You could also try the first couple episodes of Black Lagoon.

Full Metal Panic! Mosly mech but their base is a submarine, not really central part though.

I think you should give Tactical Roar another chance, though there's a lot of fanservice there's some nice ship fighting scenes in there somewhere

A little less relevant:

Aria the Animation There's a lot of boats, but no guns ^^

Good suggestions nonetheless, I've heard good things about Crest/Banner of the Stars so I'll add those to my watchlist. I think I have a few eps of Starship Operators somewhere, so I may pick those up for a re-viewing.

Big Aria fan here. I've seen both series, delightful humour and great fun, and yeah love the watery theme too. Good suggestion too

Old joke:

Q: What's round and hard and full of seamen?

A: A submarine! Why, what were you thinking?!
