That Fool card was inverted. Admittedly, that's actually worse than the standard reading of The Fool, so Kana was really insulting Anya there.
Kim, what sort of way is that to treat your juniors?! For shame! I expected better from you. So Akane and Clay are actually bodyguards for Anya? How unexpected. Apparently Anya cannot be trusted with money. She buys everything in sight. Meme just shouldn't be trusted with anything important.

Okay. Deal sealed. I am sooooo following this series! ^^
I read through the available chs. of the manga too and it is interesting to see how the series is adapting the material. Am not usually fond of tsundere types, but it was nice to see Anya transform in waitress mode - a wonderful opportunity for her to sort of "spread her wings". Also - was I the only one surprised to see Meme go into drunken style kung fu while asleep? Oh yes - the OP of this series is pleasantly foot-tapping....

Presumably she must have something special about her, or she wouldn't be there. I don't know what actually makes a meister a meister in this world, but I assume some level of physical capability must exist. Maybe since Meme's too much of an airhead to do it consciously it only works when she's unconscious?

That's for sure! ^^
Well, we have already seen that Anya is quite proficient with polearms in ep 1, and didn't it mention something about karate class at the beginning of this ep? So was kinda assuming Meme would also be talented in some way - guess I did not expect sleepwalking based drunken kung fu skills to be one of them (at least I hope that isn't the only one). Speaking of bodyguards for Anya, anyone else catch them in the scene in ep 1 where she first pops up outside the airport and is delighted by the taxi? Those two were in the background leaning against the wall - I think the weapon was looking at a newspaper. I like little details like that.

As I watched it, I didn't find this ep as interesting as the first. But now that I think back on it, there were some pretty nice bits: Meme's drunken kungfu, Anya selling her heirloom brooch, the hints of further danger from nasty seniors, sharing one bowl of soba, Anya as a waitress (so happy!), and that image of "Josephine" with Tsugumi's glance.
I'm enjoying the voice-acting, but it's different from what I expected. Yuuki Aoi, for once, doesn't sound like herself at all (Meme). In fact, Tsugumi (Chisuga Haruka) sounds more like Ao-chan than Ao-chan does. I'm still coming to terms with Hayami Saori's Anya: exaggeratedly tsuntsun, terribly awkward...then sweet as sunshine as a waitress.

Rather wondering how the anime will adapt the manga, since the manga has not been going on for too long. Though its possible that Soul Eater Not, is ultimately meant to be a shorter series that Soul Eater was.

I didn't hear anything to indicate plurality. Although I'm far from being fluent in Japanese, none of what I recognized in that sentence indicated that there was more than one "hime-sama." I'm going to say it was a mistranslation, although someone who speaks better Japanese can feel free to correct me.

That was some high-quality SoL shit. It really did feel like a completely different show. I'm only just now starting to absorb the OP and ED as well, and I thought they flowed amazingly well with the episode. The cheerful, easygoing interactions between the three mains almost made me think of some other simple feel-good SoLs like Natsuiro Kiseki, they were so beyond my expectations for a Soul Eater anime.
I have to agree, it's pretty damned interesting seeing how Bones are adapting this series. I honestly didn't expect SoL of this quality from the manga. Well, my hype for this show has been increased. |
