The public reaction to superhumans and formation of Watchdogs groups felt a bit forced/shoehorned to me, as if they were trying to tie in fast to Civil War.

Unless I missed it (always a possibility, my attention span is pretty tiny), IMHO they should have gone with a slow burn, with Watchdogs being gradually hinted at in previous episodes.

^Wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

Giyera's fight with May was cool and he gets even more points by taking down all those SHIELD agents by himself.

Well yeah but his power is kind of overpowered. He can basically control any non-organic matter so yeah, unless SHIELD suddenly comes up with biotech there's nothing effective against him aside from other inhumans. Heck, even Iron Man would probably get taken down given what his power actually is.

I like that.

Marvel villains always fail to impress me, so the fact that someone went toe to toe with May and almost won - without powers- makes things all the more exciting. For me.

The best part about HYDRA being eliminated (again) is that they aren't even gone. Isn't Baron Zemo supposed to be in Civil War, and a head of HYDRA? Or is that supposed to have already happened in SHIELD's timeline?

If Coulson and May honestly think that HYDRA is completely done for, then they have learned nothing.

I hope it becomes a running gag that just when it seems SHIELD and the Avengers destroyed Hydra, it turns out they have another branch or risen again.
"Finally, we eliminated Hydra......again."
"Bad news Director, we just learned there's another branch of Hydra."
"What? Why!? I thought we finally dealt with them? Why does this keep happening!?"

It was an odd episode. On one hand, Lash, who can destroy Hive and free all its minions, dying was completely stupid, especially how he died. But, Skye Daisy being freed and the subsequent scene following was quite nice. Additionally, the entire 'escape' sequence, while somewhat obviously faked, was very well done. But, the whole shoe'd-in Captain America plot felt very forced, as well as the idea of registration which I do not recall from the film (though I admit I could have missed that moment).

Still, I thought the emotional moments were good, and this is a strong set-up for the finale.

They mentioned registration once in the movie, when Secretary Ross (that's his position now, right?) first showed the videos of destruction and gave them the accords handbook. Easy to miss and forget since it was so early in the movie.

As for the episode, loved everything up until Lash fought Hive. From then on it was just stupid as hell. He somehow regained himself enough to save Daisy, but not enough to realize she wasn't critical nor going anywhere, and Hive was a much larger threat that only he could end, yet didn't. And then again, after saving Daisy, he decides it's a good idea to move her to the Quinjet rather than finishing off Hive... again.

Also, I guess apparently SHIELD can just scan a brain and see if it's infected now unlike before when they had to perform an autopsy.

As a whole, SHIELD's been getting exponentially worse as time goes on. Loved season 1, enjoyed season 2 well enough, but I'm barely tolerating season 3. At this rate, season 4 is going to be atrocious beyond belief.

RIP Lash. He acted like an idiot after saving Daisy though. He could have easily finished Hive off and then got her on to the quinjet. She wasn't in a fatal condition.

Other than that it was a pretty good episode.
