Atui's pet/hat thing. It eats bugs and Haku drew a face on it.
Uh, it's a thing that Atui have that isn't really relevant to the plot.

Just finished the game. Seems pretty obvious Woshisu is behind the Emperor's death. Mikazuchi was away due to his order, he tricked both Burai and Anju to officially make Oshutoru the scapegoat, and he seemed to secretly scorn Honoka (who seems to regard Woshisu as a son or something). He seems to have an accomplice, but it's not shown, and most definitely not Raikou (he's just another party that takes up opportunity that Woshisu created).

The moral of the story? Never trust male BL author. They are EVIL

I'm guessing the twins will play a very important role in the plot later?

I know some anime-only viewers are worried they're just going to be there for fanservice purposes.

They only fought against Vurai directly, and Haku's team did aid Munechika a little closer to the end.
But I believe that most of the pillars will likely be people that Haku will have to fight against in Futari no Hakuoro.

Yeah, they are useful for guiding Haku to the secret lab under the palace where he meet up with the Emperor for the first time. That's the main reason Emperor gave him to Haku under silly excuse like a reward for saving Anju.
They are also useful for suppressing Akuturka power after they turned Godzilla.

Not necessarily, I think what LROlsson meant is that Haku would have to fight the pillars in the third game since he's branded as a traitor who kidnapped the Crown Princess.

I'll just add that in damage-dealing capability, the twins flat out defeat the rest of the playable characters, except maybe Atui when she's in a rampage but she tends to die a short bit later

Still loyal to Haku. They are sleeping for days due to using too much of their powers during the climax.

This is a little more than only battle controls, I believe this is all. This is for the PS4 version, will probably be a little different for PS3 and PSV.

Spoiler for Controls, used due to the length:

ADV part
O: Progress
X: Hide text box
Triangle: Auto
L1: Back log(each press of the button goes back one step, press O to hear the voice again)
R1: Skip
Options: Options, from top to bottom: Save, Load, Back to title, Glossary, Settings.
When in camp(choosing which location to go to) “Re-play previous stage” is added in between “Back to title” and “Glossary”.

Pre battle part
O: Choose character in battle (blue X means cant use, red O means that that character must be used)
Square: Equip character with attachments, when in that menu can also read about that character's various advantages by pressing L1 and R1.
Triangle: Used to enter the mode where you can change the characters' starting position.
L1/R1: Change the order of the character list by various attributes.
Options: Options, from top to bottom: Save, Load, Obtained Attachments, Back to title, Assign BP(bonus points), Change difficulty, Re-play previous stage, Glossary, Settings.
Touch pad: Start battle

Battle part
O: move to that location or attack target.
X: Cursor back to the character that can currently move or attack.
Square: Look at that character's attachments or attacks. When the cursor is on an empty space, it shows the entire map instead.
Triangle: Shows how far that character can move, by pressing triangle again it also shows how far away that character can attack.
R Stick: Control Camera.
R1: Fast forwards, can also be used during rengeki.
L2: Zoom the camera.
Options: Options, from top to bottom: Info about the characters on the map, Obtained Attachments, Entire map, Rewind, Retry, Suspension, Back to title, Glossary, Settings.

When attacking an enemy:
When choosing which attack to use, by pressing the touch pad the Rengeki will be performed automatically(when the auto is active, a white symbol will be seen on the left part of the screen).

Rengeki, three types:
Dot: press O when the big circle overlaps with the small circle.
Charge: When the big circle appears, press and hold O, and when it's almost full, release the button press.
Defend: Same as dot, however it's the opposite way, press O when the two circles overlap.

Post Battle
Save, Load, Characters, Assign BP(Bonus Points), Continue

^ PS3 controls are pretty much the same, while Options button in PS4 is same as Select button in PS3.

Unable to read Kanji may have some problem though, because not every Kanji are marked with Hinakana, and some of the meanings are carried by the Kanji character.

Well I m a little late to the party and only just finished the game. But holy s*** the feels man..... that last 40 min of the game made me want to weep manly tears, only baldr sky and muvluv ever give me this feeling. And now thinking back on the game there were literally hundreds of lines in the game that foreshadows this ending, not to mention the title of all things.can't wait to see how they finish this in the next game ,at least it's not a 9 year wait this time. Also now I finally know why the title of this game is Itsuwari no kamen (false mask) and why the anime op is called unstable god.

False mask is Haku because he took oshutorrou 's identity while fooling everyone ,even those that are the closest to him.

Unstable god is Kuon because of the mental state she is in at the end when she unleashed her power due to the negative emotions she feels after haku's death, note her shadow.

Actually the meaning of Itsuwari no Kamen is not just limited to that.

Spoiler for Not so spoiler but discussion to meaning of the story:

The writer have been emphasizing there are flip sides to people and things all over the texts. And it also adds meaning to the main title: Utawarerumono - One Being Sung, that there are back stories to great people that one may not have imagined.

There have been many instances of "utawareshi-" in the texts to emphasize that "Utawarerumono" don't necessary means Witsarunemitea. It's every individual who get sung by the people, but being a god is the extreme of one being sung, and gods themselves - like Mikato and Witsarunemitea - have their flip side too.

As an interesting contrast, Rurutie is also one being sung because she has her name in the snack she developed with Haku

I am also now suspecting that woshisu is the clone of haku lol.
