Kengan Ashura

Based on the final results of the Ura Sunday voting contest, it looks like Kengan Ashura will be getting an anime adaptation. The premise:
Quote:
Since the Edo periods of Japan, gladiator arenas exist in certain areas. In these arenas, wealthy business owners and merchants hire gladiators to fight in unarmed combat where winner takes all. Toki Taouma, nicknamed "Ashura", joins these arenas and devastates his opponents. His spectacular ability to crush his enemies catches the attention of the big business owners, including the Nogi Group chairman, Nogi Hideki.

Spoiler:

The contest was announced months ago that allowed fans to vote which manga to be adapted into anime. Contest results have been posted now with Kengan Ashura getting the win.

Edit :
Oh, sorry, didn't see that image.

So it's decided Kengan Ashura to gets anime adaptation.
Well, I never know this manga til I read the news...I'm surprised this got in the first place, and not Mob Psycho.

Hope it will be good. (and I hope the manga will be translated soon).

Ah yes, I've actually been interested in this series for some time..... it gives me pretty strong Grappler Baki vibes, that it does. Still, too bad Mob Psycho didn't didn't get first place, especially with the OPM anime being on its way.....

On the other hand, I'd have been VERY surprised if Sekai Oni were the Ura Sunday manga getting an anime. With all the subject matter that series gets away with, the anime version would have to be censored up the wazoo (to the point that it wouldn't feel like the same series anymore), lol.

What's this series like? Is it more a typical shounen series of hard work and friendship or more brutal like Baki?

I really enjoyed this, but at the same time I'm disappointed that it was only 24 episodes long and there are still 100 chapters left to adapt. I hope it does well enough for Netflix to bankroll another season.
