Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu (Wanting to Cry, I Pretend to Be a Cat)

Studio Colorido announced on Tuesday that it will release Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu (Wanting to Cry, I Pretend to Be a Cat) as its second feature-length anime film on June 5. An official website for the anime also opened and revealed a teaser video, visual, the main cast, and staff.

The original story about finding one's true self is set in Tokoname, Aichi and centers on Miyo "Muge" Sasaki. She is a peculiar second-year junior high student who has fallen in love with her classmate Kento Hinode. Muge resolutely pursues Kento every day, but he takes no notice of her. Nevertheless, while carrying a secret she can tell no one, Muge continues to pursue Kento. Muge discovers a magic mask that allows her to transform into a cat named Tarō. The magic lets Muge get close to Kento, but eventually it may also make her unable to transform back to a human.

Trolling aside, teen drama is okadas forte so its either going to be sappy either way but its a coin flip as to whether its good sap or insufferable sap.

Came across the trailer and thought it looked really interesting. Not sure what to think about Okada being involved, but I have a lot of confidence in Sato.

Considering that Sato's specialty is the latter, we could see a perfect storm of it here.

That said, Sato is much better as a director than writer of original material, so even though his previous collaborations with Okada have been unfortunate, on paper it's not inconceivable this could work.

Tastes differ. I personally liked all his SoL originals. Especially Tamayura.

Well for what it's worth I really liked the second half of it. XP

In any case I don't think the problems that one had are likely to apply here either. I just mentioned it because Meotwister remarked on the combo.

To be honest I could never get into Tamayura: it was just way too pedestrian for me. But considering Okada is anything but pedestrian, this particular combo could actually work.
