I'm averse to F/SN but friends convinced me to watch it... through constant nagging.
Anyway, it's much better than expected, and continues to get better. The episodes are very good. Once again: it remains to be seen if this will be my favorite at the end of the season though...

Don't dip too much into the fandom/Nasuverse. It's gonna be as hard as hardcore scientific debates or even political ones |

However, like Okkin says it is easy to casually appreciate the series. I have seen all the anime, read the VNs and I am able to enjoy it all without getting sucked in by the fandom. I see you on most of the series forums I post in (and tend to agree with most of your posts) , so if we have somewhat similar tastes then you should enjoy the Fate Series however you decide to consume it.

Fate/stay night 02 - The Curtain Rises
An episode almost entirely driven by dialogue.
Still, the plotline is sailing within familiar territory, though I'm not entering into details. Because, I watched a previous TYPE-MOON series before Unlimited Blade Works it truly hit me hard when Kotomine addressed the coward Master from the previous war that led into its incomplete state. Furthermore, the conversation between the fake Priest and the boy who wishes to be a hero felt to me with such an insidous tone. As if something was telling me that Shiro will be left with no choice but to either compromise or stray away from his ideals at being a hero of justice during the war's ordeal. |

It probably should go in the Franchise Veteran section. It is difficult to write about something unbiased, what he/she decide to focus on in a review will get influenced by the spoilers he/she already knows. Because of this there is a change he/she will accidentally spoils something.

I really wish Saber would show more recognition of F/Z events. Saber was pretty close with Irisviel and yet all she does is give small glare of recognition to Ilya. Not that I expect some sort of happy reunion or whatever but still.
Not to mention that Saber was born from a circle in which last time, she saw Irisviel dying. Actually that whole house should have been of more importance to her. Just a small something would be welcomed. At the very least I hope she does tell Shirou in a future that his "dad" used to be her master.
