Supporters of ousted Thai PM hold first big rally

Well things are heating up in Thailand after the PM was remove from power by the courts a 2nd time. I don't think it will descend into civil war but the potential for conflict is really high.

With Vietnam now annoyed, the next escalation would be if China pisses off INDIA.'

If only because it is an official nuclear power, and India's involvement would really complicate things.

Which is something I literally can't fathom.

China and India have near endless amounts of inhospitable mountains. Why is getting into a dispute over who owns which inhospitable mountain even remotely important?

Do you know how much adventure-tourism dollar is there in that thing?

Think about it in the case of Europe, those snow forests and mountains could have been Germany's alone if it wasn't for Austria!

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

Not like Austria had any say in this, the victors of the world wars forbid them from joining or staying with Germany.

Austria wins Eurovision Song Contest

And you know, I don't really care about Eurovision, and never have, but this is great as it will annoy a bunch of bigots who really deserve to be annoyed, and it demonstrates an acceptance of diversity which is really what the show ought to be about. Screw you Putin, screw you Farage, and so on.

Also, the Bond franchise really knows who they need to hire for the next movie theme song.

Maybe China really pick the right time for this. Thailand in turmoil, the National Congress of Vietnamese Communist Party is one-and-a-half year away, Ukraine and Syria, Obama's visit,...

IIRC, that all started due to border problems like how China fought the USSR before over that problem.

China doesn't really piss off India, more like they push us around and we shut up and take it, because seriously, what on earth are we going to do to China. They often support and provide arms to pakistan, for one. They also outbid and out-muscle us for development projects in the neighboring regions, like Sri Lanka and Nepal (not to mention the fact that they do much better work) Also, there was the Sino-India war in 1962 in which they kicked our ass ( Up to this day I can't understand why we would want to instigate the Chinese).

As far as being a nuclear power goes, as we've found out with pakistan, nothing really comes out of it as neither India or China are going to launch their nukes at each other any time soon. Even with the odd incursion, we have other fish to fry, and they have bigger fish to fry.

This was one of the reasons behind the Sino-Indian war. When the brits left they just made arbitrary bogus borders, so neither China nor India can agree where the true borders lie. Recently, in the last few months in fact, there have been quite a few incursions by the Chinese into Indian territory, which has us Indians pretty worried.

This stalemate won't last long. Sooner or later bullets are going to start flying.

The world is suffering from overpopulation and these are the two places with so many people. Not only can we help Israel and Russia earn defence dollars, we can also ease Mother Nature's burden! Start a war now! [/sarcasm]

And have them lean towards US for balance and support? Just for these short-term gains?

There was a great video out a while back ( I can't find it atm) where there were chinese troops crossing the border, with indian troops stationed. Neither side wanted to start firing so they just started kind of.. wrestling at the border. very bizzare.

Uhhh, that's the entire point of having a nuclear arsenal. The threat of a nuclear strike is present, so at most anybody would risk would be minor incursions. A full scale attack would be too risky.

Well what I responded to was someone saying 'pissing off India would complicate things' . The answer is, no, it hasn't, because of the logic of deterrence. However, what happens when there's a chinese incursion is, we ask them 'hey, why did you send troops into our borders' , and they say 'we have no idea what you're talking about'. It is difficult for the Indians to take the matter any further, you can't start firing on their troops, and since the region is some of the hardest to navigate on the planet, you can't cover the entire area. We can't really do the same back, because china has a far far superior military, both orthodox and nuclear, not to mention the fact that we have one of the most militarized borders on earth with pakistan, not allowing us to really relocate any of our troops. SO, does India having a nuclear arsenal complicate things for china? No, not really.

The situation with Pakistan makes it very difficult for India to ask America for help, as we both know Pakistan is an American ally... For some bizarre reason. Even though at this point it seems the only thing the government officials of Pakistan want is American money.

The Pakistani civilians hate Americans for the drones, and the Americans are justifiably suspicious of Pakistan's terrorism links. And yet they are allies all the same.

Any chance India can get help from Russians? Or did that option die with the fall of the Soviet Union?

They could try to get the United Kingdom's aid, but I don't know how well that would go.

China really has been acting like a bully, isn't it?

The problem with acting like an ass, and not actually having any friends around (the whole reason why recent Ukrainia development aside, Russia kept trying to enlarge their buffer zones, and stay friendly with core EU members) is. Let's say one day, the economical conflict escalate, and US decides to put up economical sanctions on China. All these countries that China has managed to piss off with will follow suit: Japan, Korea, the ASEAN, India.

Or wait till they tilt all the way to US and allow the US to set up missile shield programs around China or allow US to keep nuclear arsenal within their countries. They will have to live in fear of mutual destruction. All these at what costs? Some ego pumping and few billion worth of oil?

@risingstar3110: Remove Vietnam from the list. There is noway Russia like the idea of US missiles/bombs in here -> Not in this realm would we allow that system in Vietnam.

At least Russia has deeper military connection to India than America.

Maybe in Laos or Cambodia or something.

Either way if push comes to shove, we don't know what will happen. The US don't actually even need to provide the weapons, just technical aids, discounts on military hardware, and let the market decides.

I means it's not like Russian war with its neighbour (like against Georgia in 2008), where only 20k military personnels involved, with 200 death. Past Vietnam border clash with China involved almost a millions men and anywhere from 20k-90k deaths for both side. There will be a point where the Vietnam government will have to say "screw it, we will just get as much helps as anyone can offer"
