Biased since Gon's my favourite character in the series, but I don't have a problem with the recent developments because:

1) Gon will certainly die if Killua doesn't get Alluka to heal him. That would obviously be a bit of a problem for the story.

2) Alluka's an interesting character in her own right and we get more insight into the Zoldyck household and the relationships within.

3) Killua and Gon's friendship is on the line because of what happened during the Ant mission. Killua's been stewing over Gon's treatment of him for a while and he's not taking it lying down this time. Even now, he's still having to make sacrifices by going back to the family that he wanted to get away from. Whether they stay friends or not, things'll definitely be different between them.

4) Killua's putting himself in opposition with his brother.

I really don't see why people are getting confused about Alluka's gender? Is the concept of transgenderism so alien to you? I mean it's obvious when you look at the facts.

-Alluka dresses and acts like a girl
-Killua refers to her like a girl
-Killua acknowledges her
-The rest of the family refers to her as a boy, if they refer to her as 'anything' at all
-The rest of the family doesn't acknowledge her

So clearly she is biologically male but identifies as a girl.

Not that hard to understand is it?

Not clearly obvious. It's not i don't know about that. But the truth is we never see her naked so we can't tell she truly a male or female.

It's possible that was Zoldyck's code that all of them considered as male or they just didn't want to bother themselves to care at all about Alluka.

But is that really matter?? Is not it simple?
If you think she is girl, then you are on Killua side and may as well "acknowledge" Alluka.
If you refer her as male then you are on Illumi and Zoldyck side and at the same time "ignored" Alluka humanity.
First of all, it's not really worth it to debate whether she is male or female as both are acceptable depending on your PoV.

And yea, Alluka's gender... I'm just not gonna ask, since I guess the cast aside from Killua can't even accept the existence and even refer to as "it"

Illumi's "Huh" reaction to Hisoka's so Gon will die too was worth the cost of admission. And the cherry on top was his disillusioned thinking that he was the one Killua loved the most.

Also Alluka and Killua are so cute together.

I was a bit disappointed they didn't do Hisoka and Illumi's fabulous full body poses justice... They must be the most handsome and fashionable pair of mentally deranged psychopaths ever.

Other than that though, great episode, and from the preview it looks like the next one is going to be gorgeously animated. Can't wait.

It's so different from Hisoka's voice in the 1999 series too. Takahashi Hiroki has some impressive vocal range.

They often say "little brother" which isn't ambiguous at all.

Another expositionary episode that took a chapter and a half! I guess they do want to drag it out. Oh well, let's hope the pacing picks up in the next episode. But the adorableness of Killua and Alluka together is off the chart! THIS is what I call sibling love! Not making them killers like the Uchiha or an incest route like in Oreimo!

At first glance she/he looks as a totally normal kid. Killua's big bro sure is a negative kind of guy. He might be right about the request, but he should have some faith. Almost forgot about the Zodiac guys. Guess they're still at it.. Pariston is really starting to annoy me. It's cool that Alluka has a different set of rules for Killua. Alluka reunites with Killua. Though I'm not sure if it's because we're not seeing Killua's feet, but doesn't Alluka look taller in the anime? And yes, Alluka looks too cute to be a boy! So Illumi is worried about someone, but it's not Gon. The manga reaction was more comical and I was hoping to see it is it is. I also prefer Viz's Hisoka's punchline here "And people say I'm crazy." Hisoka cold sweats! ------ Spoiler for part 2: Spoiler for Alluka's first demand: ENDLESS LOOP!! You know, this makes me question... was Alluka adopted?! Everyone so far is saying they don't know where she came from. So was someone left her in a basket at their doorstep or something?! If Alluka is really their child then what reason to wonder of her origin?! Clever Great... as if there wasn't enough rules already...! If you have the English version at hand, this may confuse you. In Japanese Killua says Alluka is the one who calls him "Brother" and the "Other Thing" (Nanika) is the one who calls him "Killua". This makes sense, right? However, Viz switched it around. Alluka is the one who calls Killua by his name and the "Thing" is the one who calls him "Brother". And speaking of the "Thing", Crunchyroll decided to translate it as "Something else" (Or just "Something") instead of using "Nanika" like in Viz's manga translation. Me personally, I'll use "The Thing" in referring to it. --- Spoiler for New rules?!: Now really, do you really want to kill her?! Sheesh! Even Silva got his limits! So now according to Milluki, there are five rules he knows: 1- If Alluka's demands were not fulfilled, the difficulty of the next request resets back to level 1. (Best time to make a wish) 2- Once Alluka asks someone, she won't switch and asks another person. 3- If the one Alluka asks dies before fulfilling her requests then it's considered a failure and at least one more person will die. 4- Alluka won't ask a person without knowing his/her name. 5- The same person can't make two wishes in a row. So the needle was Silva's idea all along! So we have another rule here... You still have one wish, but you can make options for yourself.
