Hi! I'm new here, and I just finished reading Owarimonogatari in Japanese. I'm updating the Owarimonogatari article on the Monogatari Wikia with plot summaries. I finished writing the plot summaries for the first and second volumes Owarimonogatari, and I'll probably work on the third and last volume some time this week. Like the previous person said, Oshino Ougi is a Kaii that Araragi Koyomi himself created. Ougi is basically his alter ego, which is why Ougi seems to know EVERYTHING regarding Araragi. When Araragi saw "Darkness" for the first time in "Shinobu Time", he realizes that there is a law dictating over the world of kaii. Araragi knows that he is too weak, too hesitant, too emotional to make rational decisions, and he unconsciously wishes for a being that can judge him, and "correct" everything wrong in this world. His desire comes true as Oshino Ougi. Ougi's personality becomes clearer in Owarimonogatari, but she's alway very critical of Araragi and always calls him a "fool". Ougi's actions are similar to "Darkness" because she represents Araragi's hidden desire to judge and punish those stepping outside the line, and bring order, in her own twisted perception of order, to the world.

Well, almost everything.

I have a few questions regarding these novels:

Spoiler:

1. What was that kaii monkey-monster who attacked Araragi, Shinobu and Kanbaru in Shirohebi park? I remember Black Basa-Basa mentioned it in Tsubasa Cat, but this was used for a joke.
2. In previous spoilers people claimed that Tsukihi now aware of the fact that she is kaii. But in your spoilers it looks like Araragi in fact prevented her from learning the truth. So she knows or not?
3. How Hanekawa managed to find Oshino Meme at the South Pole? I mean it's pretty hard to get there. And how did he managed to survive? And about Kagenui - she returned as well, or stuck there (at the North Pole)?
4. In the end of Owari 3 - Hachikuji appearance now different, right?

1. The Kaii-slayer (Seishirou) was the one who sent the monster to attack Araragi at the park. Because Seishirou had been absorbing all the Kaii in the town, they can also use those Kaii to fight. In fact, when Araragi was trying to get to the park with Kanbaru, he got lost for a while because Seishirou sent him a snail Kaii.

2. I’m actually not a 100% sure that Tsukihi knows about the Phoenix. My impression is that she doesn’t. But maybe she knows, and Ougi was just trying to tell her that as a Kaii Tsukihi doesn’t have a future

3. She sold some of her vast knowledge to a foreign country in exchange for a fighter jet, and she flew there. Haha it sounds ridiculous, but this is Hanekawa we're talking about. She basically had two options, North Pole or South Pole. She didn’t have time to look in both places, so she took a 50/50 gamble and chose South Pole. Luckily she was right. Looking back, Araragi thinks Oshino had to be in the South Pole and Kagenui in the North Pole because Kagenui can’t step on land (North Pole has no landmass so Kagenui can move freely). As for the question how Hanekawa managed to find Oshino in South Pole, which is such a huge place, they don’t mention any details. But again, that’s Hanekawa for you lol. And they don’t give details about how Oshino managed to survive in South Pole either. Kagenui is still in North Pole at the end of the novel. She doesn’t want to go home just yet because she wants to wrestle with polar bears (I am dead serious)

4. As far as I know, Hachikuji looks exactly the same. She even still has her backpack on. Gaen explained that Hachikuji is an ideal role for the god. This is because she’s a snail Kaii, and snail (which is similar to a slug) beats snake, (in Japanese lore, snake beats frog, frog beats slug, and slug beats snake). So Hachikuji can consume the snake god, and take full control of it, unlike Sengoku whose personality was drastically altered by the snake god. This is also why Kaiki used Slug Tofu (Namekuji Tofu) against Sengoku to put her to sleep.

I also just finished the summary of Tsukimonogatari (Yotsugi Doll) if you also wanted to look at that. They story takes place after Hitagi End and before Owarimonogatari 3 so it fills in some of the gaps, especially regarding Teori Tadatsuru

There is a reason for Oshino to wear hawaiian shirts. Maybe it's somehow connected with this?
By any chance - have you read Nisio's monogatari series short stories?

Are you talking about Koyomimonogatari? I haven't read it, but I'm planning to do it in the near future.
I heard it's connected to the main stories, and it ties in some loose ends.
