As someone who doesn't play the game, I was surprise at first with all new faces keep appearing one by one in the latest ep. but soon I realized: "Oh, these guys must be other characters from the game that anime put in as cameo" then I continued to watch with no problem.

EP13

Pure (game) fan service episode, the alternate verse where Gran ( Male MC ) didn't exist
here we got Djeeta the Female version of MC accompany by a lot of gacha character
( which I believe she have more than the girls that appear on screen judging by the sound only part lol lol lol )

and they sure know how to use the primal properly lol lol

I stopped at episode 7 because it was really getting on my nerves how boring it was, particularly that annoying couple Dranc and Sturm acting as friendly foes. Did the show improve at all, as in actually getting more action or should I consider it dropped?

"it 1 primal ( boss ) of the arc kind of story"
If you're not into Granblue as a game from the start this isn't a thing for you...
the story progress isn't even at halfway yet...

the Primal take down so far are 3 they didn't even fight another 1 just like in game
and there another 2 Primal fight until the story start to get more tense which is then proceed to the main antagonist arc

so until certain final boss fight I guess it would take another 2 season

I had no interest in this anime and only watched the 13th ep for Djeeta and swimsuits, and somehow I was still disappointed.

I couldn't even enjoy the swimsuits because the characters were off model most of the time. This show is beyond subpar in animation quality.

Djeeta has a way better group going than Gran that's for sure

. Plus she's just plain more capable. Certainly showing the difference between a high level group compared to the pretty basic and minimalist crew that Gran has been rolling with. A bit sad for Gran that in one episode Djeeta manages to be more entertaining

Though it really was a random way to end the show. Kind of feel like this really should be an OVA episode released apart from the show.

Regardless though, the series as a whole wasn't a bad ride. Wasn't unbelievably amazing, but it had some good moments along the way.

So, wanted to give this a shot. Then Vyrn talked, and had to turn it off. I don't think I've ever had that negative of a reaction to a character.

Not sure if I'll be able to overcome it and give it another go.

I'll make it clear for anime-only watchers in general:
The first part of the story is in a primal-of-the-week format. They fight a boss, they make friends along the way, they obtain a new piece of the sky map. Once you're done unlocking the six elements primals (for gameplay reasons, obviously) the story starts to get more dynamic, with recurring characters, trips to both new and previously visited islands, story sub-arcs and so on.
Sadly, they made the anime more players-oriented than I hoped it would be - eyecandy with cameo characters, a whole tv-aired special episode about female MC... leaving the anime-only watcher unimpressed and fairly puzzled.

I'd voice what my idea of a perfect GBF anime in a world with unlimited budget and episodes would be, but even properly tagged spoilers are against the rules here iirc

It's almost identical to the voice she uses as Happy on Fairy Tail, though honestly it didn't bother me as much there. Probably because of the comedy aspect it brought. But even so, not a fan of when she does those types of voices for these types of characters in particular.

Love her in KADO for example.

The last episode is kinda a revange for the Player who choice Djeeta as the mc in they game, also maybe a revange for the female mc of Fate extra, FAO and Persona 3 who won't appear in they respective animation.
If they choice Djeeta as mc, probably will make the serie more popular since they can make a cute girl serie, and honestly speaking, yuri shipping is far more popular in the franchise.

Well, at least Djeeta's zero f---s given approach to dealing with those drones and the villain's reaction to her appearance were kind of amusing.

She had the warlock outfit as well in the beginning. Djeeta definitely grinded for that shit for god knows how long.

The story wasn't particularly interesting, characters weren't particularly interesting, quality wasn't particularly interesting. Not that much action either. It really was just there. For that reason, I felt it was more for fans than anyone else, as they could probably enjoy seeing the characters move at least.
