Seriously, though, I'm wondering if Marvel had a hand in him taking this job, given his heavy involvement in the Avengers movies and continued involvement in AoS. They've got to know that DC making good superhero movies only keeps the craze alive that much longer, while DC making shitty superhero movies only helps to kill their own Golden Goose...

I refuse to watch this until he becomes Nightwing. Once that happens, I'll binge-watch the episodes prior to it. If he doesn't and they stick with Robin for the sake of a name brand, screw em.

If this series can take off, it would be cool if they switch out the Robins. They would need to keep their skills separated to keep each unique though. I was a tad miffed at how the YJ cartoon gave Dick good tech skills.

If it bombs though, they're welcome to keep it at just Dick instead of screwing around with the rest.

i'm not being racist or anything but she really never clicked as being a black person even her color being "orange", i know which normally that series you must meet your "quota" and have a "obligatory race representation" to not get called racist but i really hate when series does changes characters which where in one way in the comics and are changed to another way for that reasons, if was that reason could had a little more sense if she was at last a latin or something like that.

Joss Whedon will not direct the Batgirl movie.

He couldn't figure out what kind of Batgirl movie to make? First thing that comes to mind when thinking about a Batgirl movie would be the downfall of Batgirl -- stealing elements from The Killing Joke and more centered around Barbara's POV. DCEU pretty much establishes that the Bat Family has been around for a while, and most people probably know who Batgirl is, so there doesn't need to be a full origin story. It would be something different and certainly ironic for a movie titled "Batgirl" to be about the first Batgirl's retirement and eventual rise as Oracle. Just because the lead is female doesn't mean it has to be a "feminist" story; it could be about overcoming her crippling. It also has a nice set up for Batgirl II starring Cass Cain, who also starts off as "disabled" and is half-Asian. Hey there, DC, I just threw out a new angle for you in like ten minutes! It even gives you a chance to produce the first big movie with an Asian-American and female lead!

But I prefer Barbara as Oracle and Cass as a badass Batgirl/Black Bat, so this is mostly my bias speaking.

Well we have a Superman who had no hope, Batman who kills, and a Flash who can't run. So it makes sense to have a Batgirl who can't even be Batgirl on screen.

Then what do you suggest -- that we ignore and ban from use everything related to it? I don't see how adapting what happened to Babs for a movie about Babs is such a terrible thing. I'd like to believe that people are capable of having the imagination to incorporate the fallout from that storyline into an entirely new one about the birth of Oracle, without turning it into a Joker-fest.

I don't think you're getting the point. Barbara starts off as Batgirl, so yes, there is a Batgirl being Batgirl, but she becomes Oracle at the end of the movie. Why should a movie be called Oracle if Barbara never does anything Oracle-like and if she never takes on the name Oracle until the very end? If we have a Green Lantern movie that ends with Hal Jordan turning into Parallax, should we just call the movie Parallax instead of Green Lantern? And Barbara isn't the only Batgirl, so Batgirl movies with Cass will still be Batgirl movies. But even if we call Barbara's movie Oracle and have Batgirl I start off directly with Cass Cain, that still doesn't address the animosity towards using what happened to Barbara in the Killing Joke for no other reason than because it was in Killing Joke.
