I've sinned like an ungrateful bastard this entire week. I've thought things and did things that are unspeakable, so watching the latest episode has made me feel saved and redeemed. holy shit, episode 7 feels like getting a 720 wallbanging noscope for the final kill cam.
I love it when Chiya throws in high-stakes russian roulette concepts to her life. It's always funny when she announces that she has spiked one of the five green teas with leaked battery acid like it's a fun thing. It was funnier this time when she was the one that got the green juice. And Rize's "iku YOOOOO" hit me so hard. YO YO YO YO |

Think it was good for Cocoa to think about that and reassure Chino that she is loved for who she is .

either Chiya is a person that takes every mundane things a little too deep as her message about soap bubbles that she made getting popped from existence
so they show Chino & Cocoa getting drunk from liquor infused chocolate but had Mocha who might be the right age only shown drunk from drinking milk in the night bar?, yeah........ |

I thought at first it was Syaro voice when Cocoa challenged Rize for big sister position when drunk Chino act like a little sister.
Marshmallow Cocoa, is that what Chiya and Syaro wanted to see that kind of Cocoa working? Spoiler for Rock, Paper and Scissors:

Actually I wonder what she put into this aojiru. Japanese Wikipedia only defined it as a juice made out of leafy vegetables, and noted commercial preparations are usually wheat grass or kale based. While it's hardly the most delicious thing in the world, it doesn't sound like it would cause such a violent gag reaction to me...

(Although ... the "fab five"? I wonder what Mr. Webber and co. might think of being so replaced? Hopefully they would at least have a sense of humor in the matter? ) Anyhoo! This, combined with the absolutely beautiful art style, are exactly some of the strongest elements that has made the series such a strong one for me - the characters interactions and changes/development is a combination of fluffy and engaging at the same time. ^^

I had to take some cardiac medication to avoid dying during the viewing of this episode. Drunk Chino is undoubtedly the cutest thing I've ever seen. Truly a miracle of the universe. If she had said onii-chan instead of onee-chan, nothing could have saved me.
We're already more than half-way through the season. I don't want it to end ;_;

I'm starting to wonder though whether that trio will grow at all. It's been a year, so they should be around 14 now. They haven't changed a bit in all that time, and from the shots of their class in the culture festival episode it seems that all 14-year-old girls in this school still look like grade-schoolers. |

I’m one week behind, but anyway there’s so much to talk about ep. 6. Overall, it’s a great episode that showcases every character and explores some of their hidden sides.
Cocoa: Ep. 6 expands what I mentioned last time about the difference between idolization and inferiority complex. Indeed Mocha is someone very difficult to surpass, however I’m under the opinion that Cocoa is also holding herself back subconsciously. Cocoa tends to idolize other people easily and imitate them and this doesn’t just limit to her siblings. Problem with idolizing someone too much is that you tend to view them as unrealistically better then you (her overreaction to Mocha stealing everyone from her being part of this). Unlike inferiority complex, extreme idolization also creates a mental block that prevents you from surpassing them since you’re subconsciously trying to preserve the positive image of your idol. Simply put, Cocoa wants to surpass her sister, but subconsciously telling herself she can’t because doing so would ruin the idol impression she had for Mocha. If Cocoa idolizes Mocha a little less, she might be able to take a step back and figure something out, for example, Mocha isn’t good with technology and while Cocoa may view it as nothing special, she actually beat her sister on that department and should be proud of it. Also Cocoa has talent for learning and imitating which is something she should appreciate more, but you won’t gonna surpass anyone by simply imitating them; you have to take a step further and try giving your own spin to that. There is also the bond she shared with Chino, something I strongly believe Mocha can never imitate for the reason I’ll cover next. Chino: Which leads to the topic about Chino and why she values the bond she had with Cocoa. Mocha is definitely an awesome big sister material, however Cocoa, as flaw as she is, is best compliment the more reliable Chino because they both need each other. If say we replace Cocoa with Mocha, the relationship will be mostly one sided where Chino probably thinks highly Mocha but feels that she isn’t needed because Mocha is simply too amazing. Another thing that I would like to note about Chino is her take on sibling relationship. It’s actually funny when you think about it. On the day they first met, Cocoa who’s still basically a stranger started asking Chino to treat her like a big sister. Chino being an only child, the concept of sibling is pretty much foreign to her. Ok, so how does one act like sisters anyway and how is it different from bonding between friends? Even now, I think Chino still puzzled by it, but at least she isn’t against the idea and is currently trying to figure out what it is in her own by following Maya’s example. Indeed the concept of sibling is something that’s not easy to define. Rize: I still have trouble figuring out why she’s so terrified of being cuddled. Rize is a paradoxical character in a good way. I think Rize wants to be seen as cool-looking (and ordinary) highschooler but also happen to fond of cute things (like bunny cosplay) but since it doesn’t reflect the cool beauty image she’s trying to project to others, she finds them embarrassing and tries to hide it. Rize also likes guns but she isn't embarrass about wielding them in public because she considered it cool (and for self-protection). Now when it comes being pet and cuddled by Mocha, I figure Rize probably finds those activity even more embarrassing because it’s kind of childish and not cool, but I don’t think she has to be that scared of it. Well, it’s not like I didn’t find the scene amusing. Syaro: I appreciate how she tries to cheer up Cocoa even though her method is a little awkward, and for getting the rare opportunity of watching her protecting Rize for a change. While other characters get themselves caught in their own matters, Syaro is the one constantly being helpful to everyone else throughout this arc. Usually, it’s Chiya whose role is to watch over other character, but well… Chiya: Perhaps more than other manga readers/anime watchers, I’m actually surprised when Chiya confines to Rize that she wants to be cuddled by Mocha too. You know, so far we haven’t gotten any episode that focuses on Chiya ever since her introductory episode. The reason is because Chiya doesn’t have personal problem of her own, and most of her problems has to do with her worrying about other characters. So call me surprise by this “unexpected” development. I had enough for today, will cover ep. 7 latter date. Gosh, drunky Chino is something that should only be handled in small doses. |
