S1 aired in 2008, S2 aired in 2010 and the movie was released in 2012. So it is most likely the third season will air in 2014.

That's a given. I don't think it was aiming for Winter at all, lol

Both were released in the summer season... I wonder if they're going to move it up? Probably not, I guess.

Is it outright stated that it is a "what if" story? Because if not, it would be a spinoff, and those can also be canon, even if not related to the main story.

Sorry, I didn't want to use spin-off since I thought people associate that as not canon.

But yeah, what I meant was anime with 501st cast, is considered the main series now. And these two will be spin-offs to give the other JFW some time to shine.

I'm totally okay with this.

I hope we'll see Shirley upgrade her main weaponry to the more reliable .50 cal M2 (that should shake her you-know-what

). Also, I can't wait to see what goofs Francesca and Erica will make this time; these two are pure comical relief.

Well,i think we should not take his word as "spin-off",more like "whole new series",that means,main cast will not be 501st

So am I. Despite my previous comments, some new blood will do nothing but help the series. The question now is what new blood. I do hope its one of the current squads, many people would feel so trolled if Humikane made a new batch of witches just for this.

Really, you should've just said spinoff from the get go, the news in itself is quite confusing already.

Yeah. I wish they'd be a bit more clear, but if it expands the Strike Witches-verse, I'm happy. And I agree. I guess they'll be picking from the end of the movie?

The OVAs? Most likely.

Ans I've just learned that Vanadis is another name for the norse goddess Freya.
