Well, to fight against him you don't need many defensive spells, so switch most of your spell into offensive that can increase your dmg, while keeping 1 or 2 survival spells for when you make a mistake and run into meteor. I killed him with 18k dps Barb, or 15k dps Wiz, so I don't think it's that bad.

The point is I was in a party, not doing this solo, and I was the one on Resist duty for the session, which means that my skill setup was supportive instead of full offensive (I had the blind skill for example, which is useful for mobs but useless against Belial). And changing skills would kill the NV stacks we had, so we had to use the stuff we were using when we logged into the game with (we went through the Black Soulstone first).

Belial enrage is 3 min.
He doesn't do continuous damage, and fatal ones are fatal regardless. If you're a monk, just swap out to DPS gear. 2h or cheap 1hs off AH, and you can even drop some of the defensive skill sets (unless you're going for NV stacks). I was lacking on DPS, so I swapped to 2h daibo with relatively high DPS and lots of LoH. Swapped out my aura for the DPS one, and tossed out a skill in favor for Sweeping Wind. Output damage nearly doubled, and was a cake from there. In public though, you have to rely on everyone having hit the required DPS, making this fight one of the hardest public game fights out there.

This wasn't a public party. It was composed entirely of friends, and we were trying to get the barbarian to Act 3. I will admit though that one of our buddies' weapons were lacking (I did lend him my 800 DPS blue fist though), but even so it's kind of surprising how exponential the life leap became. It was like punching a freaking wall, which wasn't how my single-player experience with Belial went at all.

Ahh, gotcha.
You have to pump out little short of 100k dps as a whole party, I believe. I'm not too familiar with the HP increase on 4 player party, just assuming it's somewhere near +300% increase.

It definitely increases the quantity. Because monsters drop gold REALLY often. Like, almost half the time. So there is no benefit in increasing drop rate. Further, I have +200% gold find, but I still regularly get monsters that drop no gold at all. What you will notice is the gold stacks get bigger.

Beside, we'd rather lose NV stacks than keep on dying without progressing. Act 3 on the other hand is just brutal.

20k DPS is rather low by today's standards for damaging classes given how cheap low end gear is - maybe that is why you are having enrage problems.

So I've been thinking about what I'm lacking when it comes to Elites on Inferno, since even with just my Wizard's paltry 16k DPS, I don't have much trouble against your bog-standard mooks. So on a whim, I decided to include the one ability that'll give me the highest DPS for my Wizard ever: Archon.
I once gave up on Archon a quarter of the way through Hell Difficulty because it can't use any Diamond Skin, which I was spamming alot when it comes to surviving said difficulty. Engaged against Inferno Elites, and coupled with Prismatic Armor though.... I was like "WOW, I didn't think they'd go down that fast!" Though against an Elite with Plagued + Desecrator + Mortar though, it did take a couple of tries before I could kill it I still need to save up money for a 1k+ damage socketed weapon though...

I sold that sword I linked to above for 30mil (25 after Blizz took their cut) ... And for the first time since playing this game, I feel like I can purchase most things I've always wanted but couldn't afford.
