Yeah. I am one to think that the series is fine enough as it is, and doesn't need any re-write or whatever you call it. I'd add that the thought of fanboys raving again for the next decades makes me cringe. |

I actually liked the movie ending a lot, but then again I'm a converted (by fanfiction) AsukaXShinji camper. ^^;
And hmm, 4 movies eh. I really hope it's all new animation and not just reused ones from the series/movie. And a bit OT, but whatever happened to the live action NGE that was supposedly announced? Was that just a rumour or something?

I guess I'm in the minority in liking the series ending better - or at least disliking it a lot less. I really disliked the movies generally and the ending especially.
That's why I'm really of two minds about this. Eva is arguably the most influential anime ever, and certainly one of the very best. It's the show that really blew me away and turned me on to just how transcendent this medium could be. And there's no question there was a lot left unresolved. But if we're looking at a misguided attempt to (further) cash in on the Eva name without saying anything new and meaningful, that could really tarnish the legacy of the series. |

The question here is do we really NEED more EVA? Certainly fans that really liked EVA would be very happy about this, but will the new EVA really make it better than before? It is possible to have too much of a good thing... look what happened to Star Wars.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Why would fans of EVA be excited about a remake of EVA, if EVA was already good in the first place? On the other hand, people who didn't like the original EVA probably wouldn't go watch these new movies. There just seems to be no good reason to make more EVA, aside from gouging more money from the fans. |

It will be new animation, from what I heard. I mean it would have to be, right... Since the contents will be different. Redubbing and rearranging alone won't suffice, I think... It'll be interesting to see it animated with digital effects and digital painting.But what kind of staff will they get? I guess since it's a movie and not a TV series they could pick out from the older folks like Mitsuo Iso and the Yoshinaris, or they could let the younger Gainax staff like er... Sushio try it out.
And as to whether we NEED more Eva, well, it's the same anywhere... Do we NEED 60+ anime airing in one season? Do we NEED another mediocre eroge/galge adaptation? The answer may be "no" to some but hey, they still keep coming. I don't know what drove Anno to do this though, I didn't think he'd want to dig it up all over again.

It is there, but it seems like it's been stalled. The concept art is fugly, though. Really. Even if it wasn't the final concept.

Wow, I guess I was completely wrong. After 10 years, I wonder if Anno's still got it? I just hope Gainax has figured out how to budget their money so the animation quality doesn't go down the tubes in the end.
My guess: this will be released like Top2!, making us wait and wait in the meantime.
