Hello, I'm a translator checker looking for something to tlc.

About me: some years studying Japanese in school, was in fansubbing for a few years.

Sorry if I sound stuck-up but here's the list of things I will or will not do:

Series that I would tlc:
-Episodes where one month has passed since its airing date and there are still no subs (regardless of whether the existing subs are acceptable or not)
-Not targeted at female audience
-Not for children (i.e. pokemon)
-Shows that I don't hate

What I won't do:
-translate (I only tlc)
-tlc a second episode until the first episode I worked on has been released
-take your group's tlc test
-tell you where I'm from or my fansubbing history
-request to enter your irc channel or access your ftp (though I prefer to join your irc channel)

Translator/Translation Checker:
Level: Upper intermediate-Native (JLPT level 2 or above)
Must posses a very strong command of interpretation skill in both languages.
The reason for this requirement is because Nurse Witch is a parody of parodies with tons of screaming and madness, so it's not the easiest of anime to catch by ear.
Also one would have to be a fan (ideally) to catch the never ending comic references in order to be able to translate in context correctly.

The deal with this project is that part 1 was completed and released back in 2004 but part 2 was never completed.
We had received an offer from a translator who wanted to help complete the project so we decided to overhaul it all and re-release the OVA as a complete set, grabbed rare ass raws for it and result was part 2 has been 85% translated but sadly he couldn't see the project to completion.

So at present we have two timed scripts with statuses as such:
Part 1 = Needs a very light TC check together with part 2 to make sure references are consistent.
Part 2 = Needs 15% translation completion & TC check with part 1.
What has been translated already is accurate, the rest is the 'hard to hear' parts, I suppose and checking all the comic cultural references.
Our 2004 released part 1 episode is with us, so you wouldn't be going in totally blind.

I am currently looking for anyone to help translate Negima. Though I would prefer that those seeking to join remains in the team I don't mind a "hit and run"/one time tl so as long as translation is provided entirely (opening theme, ending theme, entire episode.) same applies for tlc though once again I would really prefer it that you join us seriously. We need serious people to be in our team, dedication is a trait preferred.

Timers: what needs to be said? I want someone who is reliable in timing. we need someone serious to join us.

Encoder: Okay we really don't this but I personally cannot encode in xvid and wud like to have someone who CAN. providing HQ xvid encodes for release in 480p. (update) nvm. situations changed. I can do XviD now :S

And lastly to all interested: The TurokZone does NOT run like a bureaucracy. if you see something wrong with the script like a misspelled word, a line is mistimed, or a translation mot so accurate/couldbe improved... please add effort and actually help fix such errors/issues. Though I am the Encoder and I do the Final QC I would prefer it that I don't have to QC anything.

There might be more positions we need. A translator would be epic since I am re-editing anime.fin's bad scripts while using the Scandinavian Boxset as a supplement.

If not a translator for the full 21 episodes, then a translator for the 21 previews lasting 20 seconds for each one.

No IRC channel because I don't know how to make one yet. No fancy website yet.

Basically, I am one person out to give Ginga Nagareboshi Gin the quality it deserves.

I can do simple encoding. The source is progressive so not much help is needed there. I can do simple styling of subs, and my editing skills in English aren't that bad.

I have episode 1-5 encoded, but timing, re-editing and quality checking all 21 episodes are going to take 1-2 years so I am hoping there's some experienced people who'd like to join me on this project.

If/when we finish, Battouga is probably going to die since I don't have any other interest in other projects. Although the situation might look differently. Who knows?

As for experience, I don't have much myself, and wouldn't be able to teach any newbies much. I'd prefer if people wanting to help already have some experience.
