Episode 2 is a good follow-up to episode 1. I've watched several precure series, but never saw someone untransformed try to grab the monster of the week before - Akana did that and even refuse to let go. It's a crazy thing to do.

Nice transformation sequence for Cure Sunny and the action is generally OK. Just have one minor complaint.. Wondering why Akanbe just stand there when Akane is deciding what to do with the fire?

It'll only end when it stops being profitable, which doesn't look to be happening any time soon.

Cure Sunny's transformation made the episode. I'm starting to have high hopes for this show. Now only for some melee with decent coreographies and some nice character interactions and it's more than a pass in my books if it stays looking this good.

This is one of the most inexplicable anime couples I've seen. The volume of fanart, the low number of episodes, and the popularity it has...

What's odder is that I'm posting pictures of it.

You have your requisite Disney takeoff.

And pictures of Miyuki both as herself and in Cure form. Wolfy has no idea what he's theoretically getting himself into. Nor does Miyuki, for that matter.

Well Cure Happy is channeling Sailor Moon so maybe people are subconsciously thinking about Tuxedo Max.

You know we really need an evil chick voiced by Aoi Yuuki or a Puella Magi character. Just to notice how Madoka has permanently warped the genre.

That pose Peace does (lots) in the episode - Japanese people call it "double peace." And judging by the comments on Himado (NicoNico ripoff site), they think it's pretty cool which I have to agree with.

Loving this show - I think we're back to Heartcatch levels of quality.

I think Reika "totally looks like" Umi from Magic Knight Rayearth.
Please look at Umi and Reika and when you're done...
Please also look at Cure Beauty.
Another thing you could look at to compare them is their swords - both of them are like rapiers (long / thin). Sorry, I don't have a pic of the opening (Reika w/ her sword).

Haha, I have to admit, Smile's character designs are pretty impressive. While I still dislike Miyuki's civilian look, the Cure designs in general as well as Yayoi's normal design are pretty gorgeous/adorable.

Yayoi seems to have more personality than I expected. Actually, the way she so easily accepted the destruction of her poster and stated that what she really appreciated was the courage Akane and Miyuki had given her struck me as giving Yayoi a certain kind of depth or maturity which isn't present yet in the other characters. I'll certainly be keeping an eye on Yayoi.

Heh, I already know that Reika's going to be one of my favourite characters so/but I hope they keep the quality up next week with Nao. Smile has opened quite strong thus far so it'd be good to see them carrying on with this momentum. I think I read somewhere that the 2ch threads amounted to at least 21 threads (21,000 posts) for this episode alone, easily overshadowing the discussion for quite a number of other (late-night) series this season. That is pretty damn amazing if you ask me.

Kanata, Tomonori, and of course Ika - all of them were somewhat assertive. Yayoi was, as previously stated by myself, pretty much a humanized Fluttershy. She's also Japan's favorite, right up there with Elly in Milky Holmes. And for many of the same reasons. Akaoni has his own fighting zone. Unlike Wolfrun's moon, this one looks more like a Japanese woodblock painting. I don't see him being shipped with anybody yet, though you never know with pixiv. Also glad to see that the show's willing to not just make Miyuki into a joke, but Akane too. Sunny Fire failed just as badly as this week's Happy Shower. This is why you always save attacks for the end of the fight. I do like that their Cure identities really don't hide anything - everyone knows who it is in those suits. Granted, all the fights take place in a magical zone, but if they ever don't... Now, onto Yayoi. Her transformation sequence doesn't focus on elemental sparkliness like Akane's. Rather, it focuses on cuteness. Does it ever. It's like Muse from last season, but with twice the adorable. Japan's love for Yayoi has just been validated. Yayoi liked her powers, but even she seemed overwhelmed when she summoned lightning. (Yayoi! Aim for the horn!). Peace Thunder's not bad for a finisher. I also liked the idea that Yayoi knew who the other artistically-minded students were in the school. She was trying not to get involved (and only got an honorable mention), but it makes the student body feel fuller. Next week: Tagiru Nao arrives.

I'm happy that Happy and Sunny aren't too scared anymore to fight and don't run away.. they're improving which is great. Oh goodness! Her transformation? SUPER KAWAII!! Just.. lemme get the chance to gather myself and post a proper review later..because right now I am squealing over Yayoi's cuteness EDIT: Okay, I'm fine now. This episode contained cuteness of Yayoi. I loved how the episode was just all about her, how she draws and stuff. I also loved it when Hino and Miyuki encouraged and helped her in the drawing contest. Plus, it made her emotional and that was adorable. Though, when she was upset it broke my heart to see her that way T^T, especially the flashbacks of when Miyuki and Hino had helped her which made her cry and also made me cry. She was adorably cute T^T. Anyway, when she transformed into Cure Peace, it was more of cuteness as expected. I was happy to see when Cure Peace was really scared and suddenly electrocuted the monster.. because that was what I was expecting :'). So yeah, overall I am loving these smile precure episodes and this episode was full of cuteness. Spoiler for Episode 3: Unfortunately the quality took a severe hit in all the wide shots, I'm wondering if they didn't have time to complete the episode properly.
