It's pretty obvious that the writers are going for the three-way relationship between Asemu, Romary and Zehart to be the centerpiece of this arc. Very curious to see how this will work out.
Besides the concluding episodes of the last arc, we see more of the human face of Veigan behind the machine. Zehart is also quite the talented spy. Solid episode, I'm liking the pacing of the second arc so far. PS. We also find out what the "R" stands for in the "Zedas R" name, although it wasn't from the actual episode but from the omake at the end. |

Ah, youth. Plus a little espionage on the side.
The actual tournament was a little boring but it does give justice to Asem's close combat kills. Again, great MS beam dueling just like last episode but I believe the highlight is the actions of the barn defense team. The EFF security is pretty much lacking in Tordia, a colony that has been recently attacked and should have been on alert. To think that the vegans transported the Dorado with its feet showing in the freeway straight to the all important Asuno mansion and the Zedas R was never even detected in the woods (and after the battle).

Perfectly fine with the usage of a montage as a shortcut towards developing their personal relationship at school. Paraphrasing Zeheart, we're here for something else. Their relationship in high school is merely setting the stage for what's to come later, the real meat of the Asem arc, which is going to be on the battlefield.

Anyway, good episode with Asem's development in his love and friendship of youth stage. Next week, Woolf is back with his new shining white G-Bouncer and love triangle moment in the graduation ceremony.

I didn't mind them skipping weeks worth of development via a montage, but ultimately, I felt that having Zeheart already warming up towards his undercover role in just 1 episode ( the bonding only began this episode ) is a little too fast.
The key cast would be remaining together for a little while more anyway, so I thought that suddenly giving Zeheart the relief of being able to continue his role was too premature. Another 1 or 2 episodes at least would've been more natural.

Like Nightengale said, Zeheart's change of heart (lols) would make more sense and more natural if there were more episode to develop his relationship with the MS clubs and Romary. Another problem as a result of the limited episode count for three generation. Still a solid episode though, and I really don't see any tight security in Asuno residence that stopped the Vagans from infiltrating it.
