Episode 1 special is up on Crunchyroll now.
The episode was interesting with the mecha themes. I mean, the mech design itself looks unique enough with the eyes and I'm curious about Kuroi's character growth. Takamagahara is kinda annoying so I hope they make her personality more appealing. A lot of questions that needs answers but it's the first special episode so they'll have time for that. I'm guessing the guy after the ED theme song is a major antagonist or some sorts. Seems like a neat sci-fi/mech show so far. I'm interested in more.

This is SPAAAA.... mhhhh Mizukami!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even the more diehard followers of Mizukami sensei must recognize he always have a little problem at the start of his histories, but if you stick to the ride you will witness something great and that's what we are waiting in this series. What is that pervert cat doing to our little Sami? Maybe in the BD we will know

Samidare cameo!! Read her manga if you want to see her panties
That was a pretty cool start. I understood pretty much nothing but I loved it. Mainly because I know Mizukami is a great storyteller and everything will come together nicely in the end. The designs of the mechs are also really nice. The MC being told to fight the superheroes was a sweet twist. Even better when he apparently recovered his memories and vowed to take them all down. The Superheroes seem like genuinely good guys, I suspect they're being manipulated. Two alien factions battling each other, I guess?

Yeah, I really liked this! The first show this season that actually had me hooked and shows promise.
Not whole lot is explained which is true, but doesn't feel convoluted as much as there are simply things being hidden from us for time being. There is decent among room to speculate. Loved the Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer reference too. |

Weird as hell, shounen tier action, strong emotions, and a protagonist in a not so straightforward role.
Yup, pretty much what I expected. Look out all who give it a try, one of the most worthy shows of the season has arrived. Of course, the Sami reference put a smile in my face. |

That was...odd.
It'll probably take some more time before I find the main character likeable but I did find the twist of him fighting the superheros intriguing. I just hope it doesn't take too long for them to "reveal" what we can all pretty much guess within this episode. In fact, I'm hoping it all becomes clear next episode. There was a lot of "context" that wasn't given for a lot of things and all I could think of is "that's anime for ya".

Well, as a mecha connoisseur, I kinda feel obligated to follow this after watching so many people hyped up for it. First episode is.......strange, but not incompetent or uninspired. It has a nice hook so I'll keep watching.

You know, since this is a multimedia project, don´t we need a thread in the manga section to discuss it w/o spoiling here?
btw, I almost shed a tear in the scene with the heroes before they go flying, Knights of the ring anyone?

A couple things I didn't mention in my first post
I like You already. The one things that was made clear this episode is that memories will play a vital role through the story. On that note, I must admit that by the trailers alone I couldn't really see the trademark character design, but watching the whole episode, it became crystal clear. The guy with the tiger mech might as well be the dog guy from Samidare, for god's sake! |
