the sad thing is i'm seeing here everybody is like "well i hope this happens in the anime!!!! GRR WHY DID IT HAPPEN LIKE THIS [IN THE ANIME]" as if it were going to take a drastically different direction from the manga

meanwhile the manga readers can be like "haha what a bunch of dopes"

I don't know why people keep bringing up long-running series like Maison Ikkoku to relate to School Rumble long-windedness. For one, I'm not sure how you can even put Kobayashi Jin (School Rumble) anywhere near the same level as Rumiko Takahashi (Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku, Inuyasha, Urusei Yatsura).

Rumiko Takahashi anime series could run for seemingly forever because of her immense popularity. She's one of the best known and influential mangaka outside of Japan. Can we say the same for Kobayashi Jin?

If SR does not conclude in Term2, there is no guarantee that there will be a Term3. So many anime series which ought to have another season did not have one. So rather than an ending that has no meaning (SR Term 1 ending), I'd rather Term2 deviate from the manga and have a proper conclusion.

dam im soo late >.< ahh well heres my 2 cents:
great ep showing eri's fragile side (or up until the end) harima is such a charmer...whenever eri is near him she is hopelessly seduced but i did find it kinda flat...i think this ep was a bit more serious that previous ones...
but with that sed i loved it nontheless
btw

I forgot to mention, but I found it really out of character for Harima to draw the moustache on Eri during that scene. Sure, she was making fun of him in her sleep, but I think he'd be more embarrassed than angry with her. People sleep-talking are usually thinking about someone important to them. Another misunderstanding once again, and an extremely unlikely one at that.
I think that's one major part that gave me that "bitter" taste I was talking about. I was just unable to grasp it until you mentioned it and I re-watched the ep. Is that scene included in the manga btw? because, when I went back to that scene, it felt like I was waiting for something out of Harima. something like a: "Ojo is thinking about me in her sleep?" something that somehow lifts up that shaded vision he has for Tenma and actually see a potential love interest in someone else - maybe even Yakumo (only that would greatly disappoint me. me not like Onigiri at all!)

but like what many said, dont expect much ROMANTIC development from this series or else it will spell the end. I mean, its frustrating but its still fun to watch for me. and as long as I'm still enjoying, the frustrations are manageable.

I just need to say that Takahashi-sensei rules them all. and I'm not even ashamed to say that I'm still a huge Inuyasha fan (though that series alone is as frustrating as School Rumble!)

Ranma only had moments, the ride was fun, but it became extremely repeatative. And there was absolutely no character developement. Im sorry I just have to say this, Inu yasha was the biggest piece of crap out there, and what kind of last episode was that? Extremely long running series like these two usually turn me off I end up stop watching it, a 4 season series I can endure (kenshin comes to mind) but, once I feel that it wont end anytime soon I bail ship, just like I did with bleach. It was a fun watch until they start going nuts with the whole vampire shit. Anyways, all in all I dont see SR going into that direction of 200 episodes. If anything I sorta see it ending with OVAs at the end of this season.

Yeah... I do hate series that should have another season but havent yet does suck... like FMP: TSR... omg great great great show. But, where is the follow up with Tessa's brother? hes still alive >:|

Well, first of Ranma the time in Ranma was the most crap I have ever seen, they celebrated like 3-5 christmases but they never graduated. Time stood still... the only thing I really enjoyed with that show was the comedy.

School Rumble have atleast the right time perspective. I dont mind if it gets +50 episodes more, atleast as it is entertaining. Ofcourse I dont want it to get repetive. But I have high expectations from SR. Most likely it will end at 2nd term is over or it will also show the third term.

Now to the episode, it was a very good episode. One of the best this season.

i think SR should just wrap up this season...cause a 3rd season would be milking it a bit to far...it would become repetitive >.<
btw i thought that the 2nd ED isnt as great as the first ED for the 2nd season...the first one grew on me a lot

the best answer for SR is to deviate from the manga... out of my frustration i actually searched like hell and read that shit and guess what ladies and gentlemen; STILL NO DEVELOPMENT TILL NOW. if they deviate, they might give us a good ending or quasi ending... have karasuma get together with tenma or have him move, so Harima will grow/develop just do something within this last 9 episodes so the show doesnt sink to mediocrity, because if it does, it will affect our perspectives on season 1.

I don't think there's a chance in hell that they'll deviate from the manga. It's likely they'll continue following the manga, not finish SR at season 2, and then, depending on sales, decide if it's worth it to make a season 3.

After all, if I were running a studio company, that's what I'd do. On the other hand, as a fan, I hate it.

i don't see how harima can change to have a romantic interest in anyone in 9 episodes. he seems to the character that never grows, while everyone around him is developing (including even tenma). i wouldn't mind a third season since it's entertaining to watch, but as people have stated, the story just doesn't really move, it's just one arc after another but harima goes back to square one after each arc.

Well School Rumble is very popular hell it's in the top ten most bought manga in Japan when in a new volume is released being right up there with the likes of One Piece, Naruto, Air Gear, Inuyasha etc. Many games have been made due to it's popularity too.

Funny that you mention about Rumiko's work it's somewhat similiar too School Rumble how long did it take for the romance part of her manga to be resolve??? yeah... very long. While people are complaining about that in School Rumble though it's only 14 volumes so far while her work is three times longer for anything to be resolve. Now tha'ts FRUSTRATING eventhough that her manga leans a bit more on romance than School Rumble.

Well this episode pretty much confirms everything I was saying in the ep 16 discussion...No matter how much Eri-Harima development is given (mostly all misinterpretations)...Even when Harima starts to see good qualities in her and changing aspects of her personality...this is all superceded by Harima's over-the-top obsession with Tenma...If people don't get this by now i don't know what to tell you...The entire domino-effect of this episode is Harima once again being obsessed over his feelings for Tenma (From the motorcycle tire blow-out to Eri thinking "worker-san" was giving her the sexy-eye when he was thinking about Tenma)...I thought it was hysterical how he went into that room ready to sabotage the whole situation and when he sees Tenma playing as Eri he fixes his tie and it's "Game On!" (His entire thoughts on helping Eri just vanishes)...

There was good Eri flashback development in this episode and I definatley see her growth as a character, however i'm still not sure what all of it is a byproduct of since it's not progressing the endgame for the HxE dynamic...Even in the restaurant ep it seemed like Eri knew who Harima really liked...Somebody can correct me whether or not that was the intention of her actions in that ep...

Anyway some images I liked from this ep...

Gave this ep 8 out of 10 as it was good, however I think ep 15 and 16 were funnier overall...As the credits were rolling for this ep I was thinking to myself what character is kinda getting lost in all this?? My thoughts immediatley went toward Hanai, and just like that the after-ep features him...I was like damn my thoughts were answered and in really funny fashion...when that beast-racoon went ~kyuu~ and then slugged Hanai i nearly fell outta my chair...that was some comical $hit...The new endtheme was cool too and kinda right on point...Looking forward to more next ep, however it seems the story goes back to all-inclusion...I hope we atleast get to see how Harima finished his manga deadline ;(

well yeh it seems like these are like "filler" episodes which dnt really add anything to the story like if u missd them out u can stil continue the story and understand wots going on.

the only highlight for me in this ep was harimas style wen he was talking to tenma ~ he looked so different...and ooh la la xD

but yeh it seems like a popular anime. and harima's love life doesnt seem to be going anywhere. ive not read any of the manga (dnt think its avaliable in uk nor is it in english) but i hope it continues to season 3 coz i enjoy the comedy and i love the characters.

it wud be great to see more development with other factions ~ coz atm it seems to be revolved around tenma eri and harima...i dnt realy mind but with so many other characters there shud be more info and story!

wot i think will happen after ep 17 is that eri will develop more feelings for harima after his performance saving her etc. and maybe her engagement will somehow shift towards him? lol i dno she cud ask daddy to let her marry harima...haha weird but yeah~
i also think he'll call yakumo to help him again with the manga and perhaps this time he'll ask tenma (by mistake) to help also...and then she suddenly realises he likes her or something weird...just my thoughts... just gotta wait til next week to see if it happens!
and since its spose to be xmas episode all their classmates mite go out together for a big party...and some romance will be in the air ~ awwww ^^

i have another one too........Tenjou Tenge........Why does it have to stop in that point of the story..........It doesnt even have any conclusion.

Anyway.......I would be piss off if school rumble doesn't conclude at all. I don't care if it's gonna take 5 seasons or more to get to that conclusion, but I want it to have closure at the end. Not leaving the fans dangling with unconclusive ending like tenjou tenge.

From what i see, the manga is far from getting to the end. Things keep on going in circle over and over again. there's always some new misunderstanding between harima and other character in the story. So, as long KJ keep the comedy level high for those mishaps I really dont mind watching SR forever......

VIVA harima..!!!!!! bwahahahahahaha

Wow School Rumble is a comedy?? O_o;;

By most of the comments here you'd think it wasn't...Some people think it's KGNE or something...as long as I'm laffin I'm loving...the relationship stuff is a plus, but I know it's unrealistic for me to pine over just this aspect of the show...

sigh... I think no matter how much I love the Flag faction, I'll just forget about it. I know now why ep17 irks me a bit... it's because it gave me that nagging feeling that no matter how much I wanted Eri and Harima at the end, it seems near to impossible.

Harima doesnt like Eri romantically at all - and the clues are just there. the Flag "sweet" scenes are just there to tickle the fans of that faction... just like how they did it with the Onigiri (when Yakumo have to hover over Harima on the floor in a kinda intimate form). I think it will happen what I'm afraid of:

that Harima will end up with Tenma after all.

but this is just me saying it so I wouldnt be disappointed in the end if it DOES happen. but then again, if Harima ends up with Eri, then I'd start preparing a celebratory parade downtown.

Yea... I have to agree with some of the manga-readers, etc on how many are taking SR over the top on romance...

I do understand the frustrations and all, but I think if we do see a 3rd season and whatever conclusion occurs beyond, we may all look back on these seasons and be happy with what occured along the way.

This isn't some ero-ge where the main character is liked by whoeever-whoever and a couple of other whoever's for no good reason what so ever... Might wanna do a body check (with a hockey stick) on yourselves before going overboard on how stagnate SR might seem.

In some sense this might be more for manga readers but:
Pace wise... We started at beginning of 2nd year for Tenma and Co. uhh April-ish? through summer time.... toward Fall... and approaching Christmas and New Years (episode 18-19?).
The overall story of SR hinges highly on what Karasuma does at the end of the school year (manga wise very soon sorta.. lol). Since he did say he wanted to stay an extra year (before going abroad) to check things out after that letter (tome lol) Tenma gave him.
So does Karasuma leave or stay? An interesting thing would be... if Tenma could "conclude" her story before Karasuma leaves. How? No clue, but its gonna be a large issue coming up considering the manga's place time wise in the school year.
Sooo considering all that.... I can't help but think 2nd season may end ... either outside of another significant Flag arc... or..... might end on a Flagish cliffhanger of sorts. lol Either one is ok though.
Someone mentioned that after 15 or so was lots of Flag stuff, but there is quite a bunch of non-Flag stuff between this arc and the next... soooo mmmmmmmmm lol I don't know. lol

Would I disappointed either way? Nope. I read the manga weekly so it isn't a big issue. This episode in particular I tended to like the manga version better, but there are plenty of animated parts I've liked as well.

Well first of, dont forget that this is School Rumble and not Honey & Clover.

All this will affect characters, even if its small and not all that big.
