For some reason I was reminded of the village from Resident Evil 4 when seeing Sasha's. Guess it had a similar design.

Also, poor Conny. He got home a little late apparently.

This episode went pretty fast for me.

Glad to see the second season focus more on Sasha as the first season didn't as much. That girl earned my respect this week for her courage.

This week's episode badass is Sasha. Not bad for a gluttonous hunter girl(thanks to Crunchyroll subtitles for giving Sasha and her dad country accents to show they're country folk.)
Spoiler for From the OVA:

This scene bothered me a lot. I was still expecting the little girl to be eaten by another waiting Titan after Sasha sent her off.

Small titans are way more terrifying than the large ones. Holy shit! At least Sasha is safe and will be able to eat more potatoes in the next episodes

Sasha proves herself to be the biggest badass in the entire show -- not only did she escape a titan despite having no maneuvering gear or swords, she survived an entire army of death flags. (The rumor is, the author planned to kill her off right here, but then he decided he didn't want to be murdered by angry fans.)

The comment I read was:

Spoiler:

Quite an impressive episode. Almost felt like the production team fleshed it out better than the manga did. Maybe I'll do a re-read.

Not even being a fan of Sasha's, I'm glad she wasn't killed off there. At least as written, it would've served basically no literary purpose and would feel like she was being written off because he wanted shock value for no reason other than shock value. If you're going to kill off a named/prominent character, make it mean something.

And with this Sasha becomes more just a mere meme character. Really good episode.

Unfortunately it looks like Connors hometown wasn't so lucky though.

Sasha is my favorite character so I should be happy, but hearing the reason for her survival disappoints me. If she had died sacrificing herself to blind the titan and let the kid escape it would have been a good character arc and her popularity would have driven home the fact that nobody was safe.

Sasha is best girl.

I expected her 'hillbilly accent' to sound a bit more different from her normal voice though. Can any Japanese speakers comment on this a bit more?

I was heavily reminded of Claymore here. Pretty sure there was a similar scene.

Another very good episode. This feeling of impending doom is what I like the most, you can feel it, they don't restrain themselves in that regard. All while keep scattering hints here and there. Now this titan over conny's house. I suppose it is not that any of his relatives had annie powers, so did it fly over his home?
Specifically for Sasha, glad she didn't die, even if I never had the impression she could have kicked the bucket, I don't know, I can't take her seriously. Instead I have to infer that she should have by that titan hug, when instead she ran away the last second with that move of her (the same she did back to the start of the episode against her father, and for that I give props to the writers, it didn't exactly feel an asspull).

Nothing wrong with the episode per se, but the titan fighting and character drama doesn't feel very substantial after the awesome mystery and suspense in the previous episode.

Overall, the pacing of the chapter was slow and steadily which did well to bring us into the wider world of SnK. Seeing the crew go to their villages and them fighting their emotions the highlight of the struggle.

Sasha's dialogue with her father was executed smoothly. It tied in well to the overall theme/setting of the episode and perhaps the coming season. Seeing that horrible scene of the 3 meter class Titan feeding on the disabled woman slowly was terrifying. Her sacrifice to save her child was tough scene to swallow. And, yes, it was eerily similar to Claymore.

I suppose the whole episode stood out due to its low reliance on high octane action/drama and more on better minimalistic and meticulous progression in art and setting.

Not strictly inherent to the episode, but just out of curiosity, I thought SnK hype was quite big, instead episode 2 didn't even go past page 1, how's that?
