It was stated by Ellis herself. Right after they clashed, Ellis mentioned to Luminaris that while she looks up to Luminaris, she is now stronger than Luminaris. Luminaris, already surprised that Ellis can repelled her full powered blow without much difficulty, was completely pissed off before clashing again

It's so sad that Luminaris is kinda just ... there. Hyped as the second candidate in Ren Ashbell's days, she is now utterly useless and lost.

The ace-level elementalists during the recent Blade Dance were Kamito, Rubia, Leonora, Luminaris, Muir, Sjora and Velsaria. Luminaris would be the strongest after Kamito, Rubia and Leonora. So being stronger than Luminaris means that Ellis is at least as strong as Leonora or even more. Even Claire is now strong enough to defeat a group of Nephestes Lores on her own. So it does kind of feel like an asspull, but the girls trained to become strong enough to defeat the individuals they wanted to surpass. Claire faced against Rubia and Ellis faced against Ren Ashbell from 3 years ago during training.

Kamito was gifted a mantle named Garb of Lord by Iris; too bad not as as high tech as what koutarou has but it can deflect blades and absorb spells. Too bad kamito took it off mid battle as it was interfering with his ability to precisly control his mana.

Lurie has a healing factor where she automatically heals herself, forcing Kamito to severe her spiritual connections as last resort.

Volcanica is an extremely haughty ojou sama; totally kugimiya Rie material here.

Can anyone here guess why the Author made Jio appear again in this story ? To serve as another "stepping stone" for the MC ? If that's so, it seems like the Author is going to treat him badly the same as how Kouki from Arifureta gets treated ? Another cliche trope in the battle harem genre where a 2nd male character doesn't get even 1 girl ?

I kinda like Jio as the 2nd other male character in this story that can actually do some fighting, so I do hope the Author gives him a chance at redemption and allow him to either end up as a good guy or Vegeta-type of rival character or settle for a nice life somewhere paired with that girl from the Khan royal family he's travelling with.

he got an even worse treatment than Cookie, at least Cookie had been regularly appeared and had some not too significant but also not too insignificant screen times, while Jio only apeared once in volume 3 and then get promply forgotten until the previous volume

Too true, When Jio popped up again I was like "Oh yeah he exists...its just that so many important things happened I forgot about him." It took a minute for me to recall him. haha Poor guy...
