That's Harumi in 'silver-white mode' or 'mage mode'.

I'm still not sure if I can say she and Alya were the 'same person' or 'reincarnation of the latter' even if they share the same look. At least that's what the LN has been telling us thus far (from several characters' PoV).

Alya's persona awakened (for the 3rd time? I think) in Vol.12, conversed with Harumi and passed on her memories and power to Harumi before finally fading away herself.

But as Kuran and [another spoiler character] pointed out in the next volume, Harumi was still very much Harumi, her personality remained different from Alya and didn't have any identity crisis due to shared memory. And more importantly, her feelings for Koutarou was still very much her own and was not influenced by Alya's (2000 years worth).

Anyway about that 'brave front', not really. It's not like she's pretending to be someone she's not. She takes her job seriously as she has the goal for her people in mind, but she's also a genuinely cheerful girl at heart when she takes a day off. Rest assured, the anime should be able to get to that part (Vol.6).

And yes, Kuran is the glasses princess.
And I think Koutarou's hair is just a case of the artist's selective palette.

So if I got this right, the whole story of Koutaro as the blue knight was told as a generalized flashback right? He got sent to the past by the bomb and when the girls were wondering what happened he appeared again and told them his story.

No, the Blue Knight arc was told separately as a whole in Vol 7.5 & 8.5.
When he came back, he kept it a secret between him and Kuran for various reasons. So the girls didn't know what happened until Koutarou much later. Luth was the only one who caught on something but still wasn't quite sure of it.

The only girls who 'claim' the room are the ones we have now.
Harumi has her own home so she doesn't really take part in the war of the room.
Kuran prefers to stay in the Cradle, her personal research utility ship, since she's a geek.
Maki lives with Shizuka because Shizuka thinks the room is already too crowded.
And Shizuka is kinda obvious.

She is still very much human.

The dragon is the same one Koutarou defeated and freed in the Blue Knight's arc (he was being mind controlled by the main villain of the arc), and as a token of gratitude and friendship he gave Koutarou a mark and promised that he will come to Koutarou's aide in the time of need no matter time and place.

And Shizuka, on top of sharing the essence of Alya's maid in the Blue Knight's arc, her personal backstory also happened to contributed to making her the perfect host of the dragon's spirit. So when Koutarou finally decided to summon him, his spirit residing within her awakened.

p.s. Apparently 'true dragons' in this series are god-like beings that can live beyond the concept of time and space and capable of powerful magic.

Barring the question of how a dragon would have fit in a sci-fi arc, how did Koutarou pull off all all those crazy stunts as the Blue Knight? Was it all the armor replica?

The dragons seem to be more on the scope of demigod/deity (like the shrine in ep1) than outright fantasy in this series' setting.

Not to mention they had magic in ancient Fortorthe. The second in command villain that started the rebellion was the head of the royal magi.

After the war, Alya semi-froze the magi quarters (under the supervision of Karis aka ancient Yurika/Maki who was appointed the new head mage) and destroyed most documents related to magic, in hopes of a future where the people will no longer need it. She continued to employ what's left of the magi, but she stopped recruiting/training any more of new magi. So magic eventually died out and by Theia's time nobody even knew that magic once existed on Fortorthe.

As for how did Koutarou pull of all those wonders, the anime should be able to cover most of them as they are Vol.3~7 contents.

But read on if you must:

Spoiler for Koutarou:

On top of being a born athletic guy who never skips out on working out himself, he received some basic sword skill and knighthood training from Theia and Luth when he was playing the 'blue knight' for the school play in Vol.4 (Why blue knight? Because Theia is a fan of the blue knight legend and she wrote the script for the drama club which Genji is in). He also received a spirit energy weapon (a fireball/lightning gauntlet) from Kiriha during Vol.6. His body is also enhanced by Sanae's spirit power for better circulation of energy, something she does by giving him massages and by simply being glued to him. And unknown to him, Yurika had put a long lasting magical barrier on him during his battle with Kuran in Vol.7, which somehow lasted for as long as his stay in ancient Fortorthe. Then there's Doraemon Kuran who helped maintain and improved his armor as well as being another high tech combatant + gadgeteer herself.

As for the part that most likely won't be covered by the anime,

Spoiler for Alya:

After defeating the dragon for the first time, Koutarou passed out from injury and fatigue. During the time which he was unconscious, he was almost assassinated. Feared for his life, Alya unsealed the holy sword guarded by the Fortorthe royal line, which she named Signartine (temp romanji), and gave it to Koutarou. Unknown to Koutarou, she enhanced the sword by sacrificing most of her own life before giving it to him, essentially making it the current most powerful artifact in the series.
