where the main character choose someone completely unexpected and make you go "WTF". Something like, "I never expected he/she got picked". I prefer something with a good story and art work. Thank you in advance

Doesn't matter if it is shoujo or shounen...

p.s. Watched Shuffle - ok, but not something that I would rewatch, and do not care about the sequeals

Mashiro-iro Symphony-I was fooled by the first half of the series. Seemed rather obvious who the guy is spending more time with, until suddenly, BANG!

Angel Beats maybe? A lot of people expected different pairing at the start of the series.

Green Green might fit. Episode 13 included though it has hentai moments there but you can miss them if needed. The other 12 are just ecchi.

Akaneiro ni somaru Saka and Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi had unexpected choices, but personally i didn't think that those animes were that good as a romance anime.
(coincidently both are VN adaptations from a feng game)
