The song at the beginning was rousing.
Calling "big breasts" power. That's sure the right way! I'd have loved having the same teacher. By the way she validated Dondurma but what did she draw on the board at the end ?

You can't help googling the things mentionned in the episode
Dondurma doesn't look appealing... (and chewy ? huh).

Second episode was very enjoyable. Overall better than ep1, but I think the last part of ep1 is still the best section so far.

Has anyone eaten any of the two variations of ice cream mentioned? I'm actually sorta interested.

Can't wait for ep3. I haven't managed to sucked into an SoL anime as much as this one for a while.

^ i think that's just a flower, some sort of an approval seal ( so the check is not just for the dondurma but for the whole thing) sorta like how lower school teachers affirm student efforts by stars, checks , hearts, flowers etc.

Anyway I think The Japan Ice Cream Organization would be quite thankful they should get some sort of increase in visitor hits now (add my one to this ahahaha). And I love Ice cream

Horie Yui! Yeah, a bit late, didn't notice her in the first episode, shame on me...
Nice show to train you laughing muscles. Really enjoyed the first two episode and the voice acting is great.

The comedy and cuteness (and yuri subtext) of this show have been more than I hoped for so far.

This was probably the single most adorable moment for me in the 2 episodes so far:

Thanks.

Sense of humour is so hard to pin down. For me, this show is very funny. I love its understatement and odd pacing. It doesn't need "punch" or "flow." In fact, their absence is part of the humour.

Episode 2 was so good it made me watch it twice...and also episode 1 again. Which was kind of a weird experience, actually...now that I've gotten used to the characters, episode 2 was clearly better.

I dunno who I'd call my favourite yet (don't really like Yuzuko's face/design), but Yuzu's definitely got the most interesting voice. Since puns are already clearly a pretty big part of this series, and the way she/her voice actor has thrown in inflections and casual speech forms into her Japanese thus far has been really interesting.

I like Yui's design, but her lines are pretty dry...and actually, her violence sometimes kinda reminds me of Sonya from KMB (which was great, but not really because of Sonya...). Strangely enough, she isn't really as enjoyable for me as the other characters. On the other hand, I might actually be pretty interested in her relationship with that other girl, Aikawa-san...if this show can really turn out to be about Yui's harem, beyond just the other two Yuyu's, that would be really great/hilarious.

Anyway, it seems like I can only ever pick up on these little things like the voice acting or the OST and such upon second viewings. Now that I've heard it twice/a couple times, the OST is actually pretty interesting. I quite like both Yui and Yukari's intro pieces from the first episode, as well the song they played in the second episode right when they did the switch into the second segment about summer uniforms.

Also, in fact the OP is really great. Unexpectedly gorgeous, for being done by the show's voice actors. I'm trying to pay more attention to the ED as well but keep getting distracted by the little changes in the background art to reflect each episode's events (in fact, even the walking animation is different! Seems like the ED is gonna be changing really subtly every week).

Overall, I think this show is actually seriously receiving a lot of love/creativity from the VAs/animators/production team. You can tell from the little things put into it. Even aside from my sheer enjoyment (well not really, they are kinda fused together), I'm pretty impressed with this series. While I am enjoying some other shows, right now Yuyushiki's looking to be singlehandedly making for me what used to look like a pretty barren anime season.

I've made a characters/seiyuus page for this show, with pics of seven characters and their seiyuus, and a bit of info about the seiyuus. Great cast of interesting young voices (Ookubo Rumi, Taneda Risa, Tsuda Minami, Kayano Ai, Han Megumi, and the unknown Shimizu Mana) anchored by 36-year-old top pro Horie Yui.

Yuyushiki 03 - Removed from Context

No data processing this time, just antics from the three. And once again, Yui (Minami Tsuda's) house is the base of operations, though it lacks the cool loft that the other Yui had. I can see a bit of myself in Yuzu - wanting to get your jokes just right, and then having them fail, is something I've been through before. And yes, snorkels aren't the best thing to have in your mouth for extended periods of time. She and Yukari are so in sync that it's amazing. Yukari's suntan was cute, too. Wonder how far it spread, not that we'll see. I was hoping that the "What is water?" question would lead to a Googling on their phones, but it's summertime - spend it partying at the pool instead of trawling through Wikipedia. And poor Aikawa has no idea what's going on with anybody. Though Yuzu is smarter than she looks, having already finished her homework. Maybe that's why she's such a prankster. She works quickly (and well?), leaving her more time for jokes.

I should say now, before I forget by getting further into the episode, that I really like both the opening and ending songs for this anime. It's unusual for me to like both the OP and the ED music on any series, let alone a slice of life (which usually (in my opinion anyway) tend to choose decent but not particularly memorable songs), but this one managed it.

What is water? Two hydrogen atoms bonded to an oxygen atom, usually with impurities mixed in. In pool water it is well-known that there is chlorine added.

...Ok, I'm not an expert, but it really sounds to me like the version of the subs that a certain group grabbed off crunchyroll made some mistakes in that game that Yukari and Yuzu were playing while on the way to Yui's house. Like, in every single word they used for the game, the two were saying something, but the subs translated it as something else. I could be wrong... I know just enough Japanese to be dangerous to myself, but that stuff really didn't sound right.

Those weren't mistakes. The tongue twister game requires homophones in the native language to work, so, rather than leave it in Japanese, they translated it into a set of English near-homophones and tongue twisters. The sub is an English sub, after all, and the jokes should convey a similar sense of humor to the original material. The baseline of the joke was the same, and that's more important than the exact words being the same.

Indeed, it was simply localization as opposed to a mistake. For the benefit of anybody curious, though, here's an explanation of the puns themselves:

The first pun had Yuzu asking Yukari to repeat "natsu", meaning summer. Yuzu then asked Yukari to say the English word for "maguro", which would be "tuna". However, because of the "natsu" repitition Yukari did, she ended up saying "tsuna" instead (incidentally, Japanese doesn't have a natural sound/letter for "tu"; it only shows up occasionally via a special modified character combination in loan words from foreign languages).

Yukari then asked Yuzu to say "pizza", which maps out to "piza" in japanese. This is the most common form of this trick, playing on the words for elbow ("hiji") and knee ("hiza"). After the target has said "piza" ten times, you ask them to say "hiji" by pointing at your elbow, but since they've just said "piza" so many times, they get mixed up and say the very similar sounding "hiza" (knee) instead.

Because Yuzu already knows this trick, she refuses to play along when Yukari asks Yuzu to say "piza" ten times, and yells out the trick's correct answer (i.e. "hiji", elbow) ten times instead.

They then get to Yui's house, where they decide to try the standard trick again. Although Yui also knows the trick already, she initially plays along, saying "piza" ten times. However, at this point Yukari and Yuzu mess up and point to Yuzu's knee instead of her elbow. In this case, if Yui had gone along with the joke's structure and gone with the word which sounds more similar to "piza" (i.e. "hiza", knee), she would've been correct. However, anticipating their trick, Yui pre-emptively answered "hiji" (elbow), unexpectedly getting the answer to the follow-up question wrong after all.

Thank you. None of it made sense before, not the localized versions, nor what I understood of the Japanese.

Yui is really a babysitter as she say.
This episode is really beautiful. The episode director brought some familiar good animators.
Pool scenes have great effects while the episode has interesting layouts and nice character animation like the can throwing scene or something more subtle like Yukari taking her shoes off but it sure is nice when you think about it.
