Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu (The Dangers in My Heart)

Yep, looks like it's happening.

This would be among a small handful of adaptation announcements that make me the happiest. BokuYaba is the best romcom manga going IMO, and I love, love, love it. It also has great protagonists including the best male romcom MC since... well, ever? And a terrific supporting cast.

Just to clarify what happened with the twitter link...

There are two twitter sources for it which historically have been extremely reliable. Both tweets ended up deleted for reasons completely unrelated to their veracity. One leaker deleted their account altogether after reportedly receiving death threats from CSM fans for leaking behind-the-scenes problems at MAPPA. The other deleted the original tweet when some moron replied with the identity of the source. He had no choice but to delete it to protect their source's identity.

Now, to clarify, these are not official confirmations - that's why it's called a leak. But I've not personally seen either of these sources get this kind of info wrong, and have done new series posts here based on both of them. As far as details - timing, length, staff and studio - that's all theoretical until we see the official announcement.

I mean its obvious its going to happen eventually its just a question of when. If we're talking spring of 2024 that would be kind of disappointing though. Hopefully they can do the adaptation justice, this is one of the rare manga I've been evangelizing for years now.

Oh, it's going to be next year almost surely, Expect the official announcement in the next couple of months and then maybe spring or summer, one-cour, would be my guess.

Nice. I wonder how the art style will translate to anime...

Its a bit of a slow burn especially in the beginning but there's a reason it won awards and beat out Spy X Family and Solo Leveling in 'manga to be animated' polls.

Still no news as far as studio or seiyuu, I guess we'll find out in time.

For me, the best romcom in manga at the moment, and maybe for a good while. The balance between "rom" and "com" is perfect, both leads are great and treated respectfully, and a strong supporting cast (especially Onee-san). You may say "how deep can a middle school romance go?" but because Norio's writing is so strong and the relationship is much more than just romantic, pretty damn deep. If you've ever been a middle schooler, you'll feel it.

It's worth noting that this is not a series to judge after one episode. The characters are not remotely fully formed at introduction, and the series ends up being something rather different from what one might assume at the start.

I would say the relationship is closer to Gojo and Marin from My Dress-up Darling than Nagatoro and its ilk(although I have not really seen Nagatoro). You can really feel the respectable tease between the two leads that puts it above one-sided bully crush shenanigans. And that's putting it very simplistically; I don't have the writing prowess to properly describe this series.

This series isn't about teasing at all really, so any comparisons to Takagi-san or (Goc help us) Nagatoro don't apply at all beyond the superficial one to Takagi-san (they're JHS romcoms).

There's teasing here - both between the leads (both ways) and generally - because middle schoolers tease each other pretty much constantly. But it's just one naturalistic element of a very complex character story.

Also interesting that this teaser illustration is labeled "Phase 1". The first phase of the promo campaign, or the first phase of the anime itself?

I meant like Nagatoro in the sense that the initial chapters aren't completely indicative of the relationship or what the series is actually like, at least that's the sense I'm getting.
