3-2 now for Kuryuin with 10 minutes remaining in regulation.

Chidori just went Kuroko Tetsuya on Ogre, Mai finally gained the confidence to take on Mirai and get a body on her so she couldn't chase down Reika who is now stomping Tatamaru 1v1.

I am very excited to see Kijinan at full strength. Their ace striker Sorimachi did not play against Kijikita the last time. A 1v1 with Reika or Mai would be interesting.

Last 3 minutes in regulation. Game still tied at 2-2. Mai takes on Ogre 1v1 now. Nice save by Reika plus the foul.

Up next: 3 minutes injury time. This game will come down to extra time or a penalty shootout as expected. Mai vs Mirai 1v1 continues.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. My apologies. Kijinan will be playing after the Kijikita-Kuryuin match. Should be a good taste of just how dominant they are in their league.

If the story goes through a National Tournament Arc, just imagine the teams our protagonists will face, they will be much more insane and overpowered than these teams in their region. Just imagine a whole bunch of teams more OP than Kijinan.

Spoiler for mai ball 88-89:

The match is going down the wire, with Mai now starting to keep up with Mirai, and Tatamaru earning a penalty kick. Under the pressure of the moment, she remembers her lonely life outside the limelight, and slips and misses her free kick, allowing one last play for Kijikita, and Mai finally saves the day by scoring Kijikita's match point with literally no time remaining.

Kijikita def. Kuryuin, 3-2
- Reika, Kiiro, and Mai score for Kijikita
- Tatamaru and Mirai score for Kuryuin

Up next, Kijikita vs Kijinan. This time, ace striker Shuna "Ronaldo" Sorimachi will play alongside center back Jaina "Absolute Defense" Mishiki. Expect a 1v1 with Reika "Messi" and Mai, respectively

Spoiler for mai ball 90-91:

Mai Ball just got a new publisher called Young Animal Arashi, and as a Christmas treat, they will feature the regional final between the two Kijiyama teams. For some reason, this really gives me the vibes of Deimon vs Ojou.

Chapter 90 features Kijikita enjoying their victory with a cool off training (lol) before Kuni heads out to his own match for that day. After that, they head out to the public pool where they decided to play a cavalry match in the pool.

Chapter 91 features Kijinan freshman Mia Momofuji getting so anxious to get into the starting lineup in the finals game. It's nice and cute to see the author feature a character from the rival team this deep.

Meanwhile, I do feel Mai Ball will go all the way to the Nationals and into the Under-16 Asian Championships and the Under-17 World Cup, both of which Japan won IRL in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Anyway, back to the story, a team of Reika, Tatamaru, and Mirai got rekt by a Kijiyama Union player with 4 kids in tow, with all 4 kids scoring on GK Mirai. Turns out the intimidating Ogre actually likes children.

Dat Vanishing Drive tho. It felt like she teleports into Reika and Tatamaru out of nowhere. My theory is that thia Kijiyama Union girl is no other than Kijinan's superstar striker Shuna Sorimachi.

Spoiler for mai ball 92:

Turns out that the Kijiyama Union player that destroyed the trio of Reika, Tatamaru, and Mirai is actually the team captain of Kijinan Girls FC, Riria Konbaru. She actually used to be the ace striker of Kijinan way back when Shuna and Jaina were first-years, until she gave up her striker position to become their keeper to give way for Shuna to be Kijinan's main striker.

It also turns out she dreams of becoming a grade school teacher, which is why she intends to retire from soccer after this season despite so many professional scouts both in Japan and overseas and even the Japanese national youth team being interested in her.

For some reason, Kijinan now reminds me of Rikkaidai Fuzoku from Prince of Tennis.

Riria would be Seiichi Yukimura; both are soft-spoken captains with out-of-this-world skills. Riria's "Vanishing Drive" to me is a preview to something similar to Yukimura's ability to strip his opponents of all their five senses in-game.

Jaina would be Genichiro Sanada; both are strict and tough vice-captains with very aggressive styles of play. The only difference is that Jaina is like an impenetrable wall who can easily swat aside any foolish attacker who dares to score against Kijinan, while Sanada has the Furinkazanm a skill set of power plays intended to destroy any opponent in-game.

Shuna would be Yanagi Renji; both are ace players who are part of their respective Big Three: Shuna with Riria and Jaina, and Yanagi with Yukimura and Sanada.
