Honestly, anyone who lost money over this deserves what they get. Anyone with half a brain cell knew that Facebook's stock was absurdly overvalued the moment it entered the trading floor.

Wait, it is supposed to have a value?

If it has a real counterpart, a real value may be solved for - that is why it is known as a complex number. Most of us didn't bother to actually solve it and just imagine that there is a real value to it.

Not everything can go through the Black-Scholes equation and come out as a beautiful number.

didn't you know? Fakes are worth more then the real thing

A common sentiment among the protesters was that many of the small businesses didn’t belong in the Mission, but instead in more affluent neighborhoods. When protesters crack the windshield of an expensive Aston Martin, one person laughs, “Should have left it in the Marina.” When a passer-by tries to stop protesters from smashing windows, another person screams, “Get the f– out of the Mission! Go back to the Marina, you piece of s–!”
“Dude, you don’t even know me,” he responds.

Of course they do. The value of i is the square root of -1. Just because it's not a real number doesn't mean it has no value. Pi, e and the square root of 2 all have values, but they're not real numbers.

OWS has created a monster, one they cannot hope to control. The parallels to the history of the modern Tea Party are staggering.

less a parallel and more of a bad parody.

The Tea Partys has real political power, OWS has nothing.

The *only* difference may be that one has the power of a couple of billionaires driving it.

Both sides are angry because Main Street is being looted by the plutocrats and exterminating the middle class. Its just one side has been co-opted and therefore has "power".

TP = Full of it
OWS = Empty

.
Pi, e, and sqrt(2) are real numbers. You are probably thinking irrational numbers.

IMO the problem of he OWS, the "indignados" in spain and the like is not the lack of money, is the lack of objectives. It is ok to protest AGAINST something, but unless that something is some kind of abomination (i.e. Mussolini) that you can outright kill/destroy, you need to protest FOR something (i.e. to acomplish something specific). I for one would be clearly protesting for the congress to abolish the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act which was the root cause of the 2008 crisis.

Plus they had some ''representant'' elected.
The banks did brought them rather fast but their electors aren't much likely to learn about it.

New York Senate bill seeks to end anonymous internet posting

"Introduced by New York State Sen. Thomas F. O'Mara (R—Big Flats), S6779
would require that any anonymous post online is subject to removal if the poster
refuses to post — and verify — their legal name, their IP address, and their home
address."

Sent him a nice "fuck you, you don't understand the Internet, sit down and shut up" letter... and provided my name and address if he needed lessons. The Founding Fathers cry when idiots like him open their mouth.

I thought than most engineers and scientists were too busy being useful to society to run for office.

Many scientist and engineers are out of scientific work due to the budget-cuts-economy and have to do menial works to earn a living, real science isn't cheap you know.

I can't see a scientist as myself being elected by people, we seriously think too awkwardly, we are generally too pragmatic, for the worst. Impossible for me to say a sweet lie for the ears.

That is why Technocracy isn't a form of democracy, people get elected to office because of their merits in the choosen field, instead of electing the people most adept at lying and sweet talking.
