Typo correction in the quotation. Also, deathcurse is right, in that the setting is a little confusing--it starts out with "waiting after the dance for Fate to come pick up Vivio," but next Vivio is helping herself to caramel milk in the kitchen, which implies that it's no longer at the dance (similarly, Cia wouldn't be stripping down at the dance). So...they went home to Lutecia's house after the dance? But if so, why not just have Cia take Vivio directly home and save Fate the trip?

And again like deathcurse noted, these considerations pretty much vanished when you started describing Lutecia's outfit. Seriously, the sexual tension between them was so thick it made my mouth feel uncomfortably dry to read it--and I'm sucking on a lemon drop right now! Very nicely done!

Hmmmm, in that case, I might have to edit the opening a little bit before I post it to FF.net like I was planning tomorrow. I have to admit, some of the confusion may stem from the fact that when I first started I didn't really know how to build up to where I wanted to go, so I kind of wandered around a bit. And really, I just needed an excuse to have Vivio around when Lutecia came out of her room looking the way she did.

Consider all this sexual tension my attempt to make up for the fact that I still have no clue on how to handle the eventual sex scene. Still considering that fade to black...

Perfectly legitimate method. From what I know your stories have never been classified as 'adult' so there's no point in turning it into one now. You wouldn't be able to post it here or to FF.net anyways.

Especially if the story itself leading up to "the moment" is full of emotions and tenderness and breakdowns and "I love yous" and resolution of deep feelings and determinations about where they intend to take their relationship in the future. Slap a T rating on it, sum things up in a non-explicitly-descriptive paragraph or two, and move on to the morning after.

On the other hand, if you give us several chapters of what you're tossing out in the tie fic, featuring luxurious flirtation and sexual tension between der Sankt Kaiser and no-longer-even-slightly-loli-Rider...you'd better make it hot enough to melt the screen!

Couple of Chrono/Amy fanfic challenges here:

A story that's similar to the "Natural Born Kissers" episode of The Simpsons. Basically, Chrono and Amy try to jump-start the marriage, with hilarious results. (REQUIREMENT: The phrase "Rock the Casbah" must be used at least three times in this fic.)

Something similar to Unagimaru's "Hito Zuma" doujin: Vivio accidentally sees Chrono and Amy going at it, and Lindy catches her - explaining how and why people do things like that.

Some basic Chrono/Amy fluff - hard day at the office, Amy gives her husband a massage, etc. etc.

Chrono and Amy get into a fight, and Erio, Caro, Lindy and Fate come up with a plan to try and get them to kiss and make up. Hilarity ensues, naturally.

Or how about the encounter that knocked Amy up in the first place? The sky's the limit (basically), since IMO the Sound Stages never really said the exact circumstances of Amy's pregnancy.

Lutecia grimaced, adjusting her collar and taking a moment to undo a few buttons. She was thankful that the dance had finally ended; while she’d had fun at the event (and had gotten a kick out of seeing people react to her wearing a suit), it had still been a long time, and a little late. The only thing that would finish things up was for Fate to come pick up Vivio. Usually the younger girl could walk back home, but since it was dark outside they didn’t want to take the risk that anything could happen—ignoring the fact that Vivio could easily hold her own against anyone who tried something funny.

Shaking her head and sighing, she blew out a long, relieved breath as her muscles relaxed, brushing loose strands of purple hair out of her face. Briefly checking her watch, she stepped back and headed outside, deciding to go and get a drink from the kitchen. It would be safe, for the moment; she wasn’t exactly in her best appearance, but Vivio was busy with Burning Glory and probably wouldn’t notice her.

It wasn’t like she was walked around naked, but… well, Lutecia still thought it said something when she wore an unbuttoned white under shirt and black pants, the tie still loosely around her neck.

Or maybe that was just her hyperactive imagination.

And she squashed that thought before it could even fully form.

Resolving to not even think about anything else, Lutecia finally opened the door of her bedroom and stepped out, closing it softly behind her and heading down the hallway, years of training making her light on her feet and impossible to hear. She reached the entrance to the kitchen and stepped inside.

And froze when she came face to face with Vivio. The younger woman froze almost comically as well, a can of caramel milk lifted to her lips, almost in mid sip.

“Ah….” Lutecia’s throat went dry, and she tried to remind herself again and again that she wasn’t walking around naked, or even in the bare minimum for clothing, but that didn’t help the fact that she was stripped down more than she would have liked. She swallowed slightly. “Hi, Vi,” she squeaked out.

Vivio continued to stare, not even bothering to respond to her girlfriend’s timid greeting. She finished her caramel milk and set it down on the counter, never once taking her eyes off the older woman. Lutecia was starting to squirm a little in place, not sure of what the honey-blonde had in mind, and if possible froze even further when Vivio stopped short in front of her by a few inches.

“U-um, Vivio?” The purple-haired woman didn’t dare move as the younger girl studied her for a moment, a small smirk curving her lips before she reached out. Lutecia stiffened as Vivio’s fingers lightly, gently closing around the tie she still wore, a small gesture that made the blood in Lutecia’s body heat slightly. She didn’t sense any real seductive intent behind the touch, but….

Um, my brain, it’s kind of shutting down…

Finally, Vivio smiled up at her girlfriend, still gripping her tie lightly. “Hey, Cia?”

Lutecia gulped slightly and prayed it wasn’t audible. “Yeah?”

“You should wear ties more often.” And with that, Vivio left the kitchen as she heard a knock on the door, indicating Fate was probably there to come get her.

The summoner stood there for a good minute or two, dazed, before she blinked.

“… Wait. Why should I wear ties more often?”

Reading this and stumbling across this comic at the same time cannot be a coincidence.

Actually, /m/ was actually really good about the whole thing before. I've been going there for years and there have been several Nanoha threads where the shipping discussions have been peaceful. Heck, a few were flat out pro-het and pro-Yuuno. So really for that board what happened over the past few days is a freak occurence. Here's hoping it stays as an isolated incident.

No offense, but I dare say that's what they're ( the select few, you can tell by their especially condensing language that even 4chan rarely use like killing, banning, etc. Most of the time, the worst 4chan say is tell you off to gtfo or gb2AS ) aiming for, knowing your... sensitivity, so to speak.

Despite it being ridiculously easy to tell who you are in these discussions ( the one who post pics + write reasonably long + being polite ), they just continue to attack the whole thing and deface you in general through their usual trick.

Pretend to be a Yuunoha fan by bringing it up in an insulting manner, draw out the ones who are actual fans, heat up the arguments and get debates going, and then lynch them to death with their usual copypasted stuff, like blahblah main website list blahblah. It was pretty obvious those select few stalked you all the way to /m/, since well, you made it clear that /a/ and /h/ weren't good for most parts.

Actual 'ferretfags', no offense to the term, like Yuuno, are passive and don't bother to spike Nanoha threads with the usual 'dump 5 Yuunoha pics, say one line, vanish' trick, because they themselves dislike the same repulsive arguments. They do like to get themselves heated in the arguments though, which is what they're trying to do against you.

Got some inspiration and tried a new style. Didn't turn out as I hoped, so back to the drawing board.

This room has no exits. It has no entrances. There are no windows in this room. It is a cube that simply exist. What is outside, is unknown. Only what is inside, is known.

In one corner there is a monitor. It only shows static and emits white noise. In another corner there is a lone rocking chair. In the third corner, there is a picture of a young girl and her mother. In the fourth corner, is a sleeping girl.

The room is lit by a single fluorescent lamp dangling from two thin wires attached to the roof. Now and then the light flicks on and off, but it comes back before it blacks out completely. The only other light source is the monitor.

The girl begins to wake up. Her hair is tussled and a big part of her clothes are in shreds. She puts a hand to her forehead and moans. Headache clouds her mind and she blinks in confusion.

“... What happened...?”

She looks at the monitor, then the chair and then the picture. She moves her eyes back to the monitor and gets up to her feet. Her legs are shaky, but she doesn’t fall. She’s strong. Both in body and mind.

She approach the monitor. Its white noise gets louder the closer she gets. There are no buttons on it. There are no remote. It doesn’t even have a cable at the back of it. It is simply a monitor that exists in time and space without dependence.

She stares at it for a long time. The static on the screen makes her headache worse. She can’t look at it much longer. She puts a hand on the monitor and her sense of touch is greeted by the familiar screen all monitors have. Except it’s cold as ice. There is no warmth.

She pulls her hand back, almost as if she was scared. But she isn’t. Just careful. Calculating.

She lets the monitor be and walks up to the picture. The girl and the mother stares back at her with sad eyes. The girl is wearing a cute, white dress. Her golden hair is tied up with a small ponytail. Her mother wears a maid uniform and her black hair is cut short.

The girl that has just awakened can’t help but feel a strange connection to the two. She has seen them before. She has spoken to them before. But where and when she doesn’t know. Or rather, she can’t remember.

Her memories are a heavy fog. She can’t remember how she has ended up in this room. She can’t remember what she did yesterday. She can’t recall who she last spoke to. She can’t-

A sudden noise behind her makes her freeze. There is no one else in this room. Not since the last time she checked, ten seconds ago. There are no entrances. There are no exits.

She slowly turns around. The only thing that is moving is the rocking chair. It rocks, back and forth, its wooden structure squeaking. Slowly it comes to a stand-still and goes quiet.

The girl walks over to it. She touches the armrest. Cold as ice. Just as the monitor.

The light abruptly turns off. Total darkness. It makes her freeze again. One second it lasts before the light returns. The room is back to normal.

“Is anyone there?”, the girl calls out. She’s frustrated and angry. She’s hungry. She's thirsty. The headache won’t go away. But she’s still not scared.

She looks at the picture again with her back to the rocking chair. Ice flows down her spine. The girl in the picture is gone. The mother remains, but now has dark tears flowing down her cheeks. It doesn’t look like it’s part of the picture. The tears are moving.

She goes up to it and smothers it with a finger. Moist. She puts it on her tongue. Blood.

The light turns off again. Then on. Then off. Then on. It remains on, but flickers, throwing strange shadows on the walls. They almost seem to move. Now the girl feel the first hint of fear. She isn’t alone in this enclosed room.

“Who are you?”

The rocking chair makes a noise behind her and she turns around. It rocks back and forth, but nothing is sitting on it. That’s when she notice the monitor isn’t showing any static. It now shows the room she is in.

She approaches it and stares at it. It shows her in real-time, in black and white. She can also see the picture and the rocking chair. The camera is in the corner where she woke up. She tosses a glance behind her shoulder.

There isn’t a camera in that corner. She returns her stare to the monitor.

The light turns off again. The monitor turns off. Total darkness, again. It lasts for five seconds. Then it comes on again. The monitor turns on. She sees herself again. She also sees a little girl standing behind her on the monitor.

She shrieks and twists her body around. There is nothing there. She breathes heavily and feels sweat flooding down her back. She turns to the monitor. Nothing except her in the room.

She rubs her eyes and blinks. It must be drugs. Hallucinogens. That must be it, she decides.

The light turns off again. Then it comes on, flickering. The little girl is behind her again. She stands up straight, refusing to turn around. It’s an hallucination. She sees the girl approach her, reaching out a hand.

The little girl’s hand is getting closer. She can’t hear any noise of footsteps. An hallucination.

She observes as the girl moves in to touch her arm. At the moment the girl’s hand touches her arm on the monitor, she feels something cold on her arm.

She screams and kicks out behind her. She looks around to frantically find the little girl.

“Come on out! Don’t hide from me!”

The light flickers and dies. The monitor dies. She hears soft breathing to her left. It brushes against her cheeks. She turns to it and reaches out with her hand. She feels something cold just as the light comes back. The coldness disappears.

She shakes her head and mumbles something. Insanity beckons in the back of her mind. Hallucinations. Must be. But it isn’t.

Her reality becomes warped. Now she sees a door that wasn’t there before. She laughs at herself. How silly, it was there all the time. She walks up to it and rattles the handle. The door opens, but stops. She notices a chain that holds it in place.

She grabs a hold of it and pulls. It refuses. It won’t even budge. No matter how hard she pulls, it won’t come loose.

She gives up and shouts out into the darkness on the other side; “Help! I’m locked in! Someone!”

Something rasps against the door. She draws a quick breath and holds it in. It goes quiet again.

“... Hello?” she whispers, uncertain.

A person appears in the gap. It’s a little girl. Her golden hair covers her face as she looks down in the floor.

“Hey, you! Help me out of here, yeah? Please!”

The little girl stand silent. Then she looks up, revealing her empty, bloody eye sockets and a beastly, huge grin her face. The girl in the room recoils and the light flickers off again. When it comes back on, the little girl is gone.

The girl has had enough. She crawls to the empty corner from where she had awakened. She rests her back against the wall and pulls her knees close to her chest and wraps her arms around them. She wags back and forth, mumbling.

While she sits there, the cold closes in again. It’s laughing. The girl knows now. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. There could be something right behind you, at any time.

“Subaru! Subaru!”

“Agh!” Subaru pants as she flies out of her bed and stares at Tea. Her back is covered in sweat.

“You had a nightmare. You were screaming and trashing about. You woke me up, idiot.”

“Oh... Sorry, Tea.”

Tea sighs and shrugs. “Well, maybe it’s for the best. It’s early morning anyway. I’ll go down and get some breakfast. Are you coming or are you gonna sleep in?”

“I’ll be right there,” Subaru says and gets up from the bed.

“All right. See you downstairs,” Tea says and leaves the room. She closes the door behind her.

Subaru starts to get dressed. She puts on the training uniform as she plans to do a run after breakfast. As she pulls a sweater over her head, she hears the door opening again.

“Tea, did you forget something...” she starts to say and trails off when she sees who it is.

The little girl with golden hair and no eyes stand there. Grinning.

The little girl stand silent. Then she looks up, revealing her empty, bloody eye sockets and a beastly, huge grin her face. The girl in the room recoils and the light flickers off again. When it comes back on, the little girl is gone.

The girl has had enough. She crawls to the empty corner from where she had awakened. She rests her back against the wall and pulls her knees close to her chest and wraps her arms around them. She wags back and forth, mumbling.

While she sits there, the cold closes in again. It’s laughing. The girl knows now. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. There could be something right behind you, at any time.

“Subaru! Subaru!”

“Agh!” Subaru pants as she flies out of her bed and stares at Tea. Her back is covered in sweat.

“You had a nightmare. You were screaming and trashing about. You woke me up, idiot.”

“Oh... Sorry, Tea.”

Tea sighs and shrugs. “Well, maybe it’s for the best. It’s early morning anyway. I’ll go down and get some breakfast. Are you coming or are you gonna sleep in?”

“I’ll be right there,” Subaru says and gets up from the bed.

“All right. See you downstairs,” Tea says and leaves the room. She closes the door behind her.

Subaru starts to get dressed. She puts on the training uniform as she plans to do a run after breakfast. As she pulls a sweater over her head, she hears the door opening again.

“Tea, did you forget something...” she starts to say and trails off when she sees who it is.

The little girl with golden hair and no eyes stand there. Grinning.

Is it bad that I thought of Tommy Wisseau when I saw the title? Heh, other than that, it's fairly interesting premise and use of literary tools.

I've been working on this... Odd crossover lately.

I figure I might as well share the first part of it.

Spoiler for Nanoha Crossover:

Looking at her house as she came home, Nanoha wondered how she was going to explain why she took off suddenly. Well, that and the ferret in her hands. She doubted she was going to have to bring up magic. With the way her mother always commented on the way television shows made magic look so fake, she didn't want to know what her mother would do if she said she could use magic.

So, when her mother opened the door after her brother and sister interrogated her a bit, she gulped. Her mother's eyes seemed to glint slightly, before she smiled and patted Nanoha on the head. "Welcome home, Nanoha. And who's this little guy?" She looked at the ferret that was in Miyuki's hands, before petting him gently. "He's rather cute."

Nanoha smiled softly. Well, at least things didn't seem to be too bad. "He's the ferret I was telling you about earlier, mother."

"He's so cute!" Miyuki gushed over the little ferret. "Can we keep him, mom?"

"Now, now..." The older woman crossed her arms and closed her eyes. "He may be someone's pet, we can't just keep him for no reason at all."

"The vet he was staying at was blown up?" Nanoha chuckled as her mother nodded at that.

"That's acceptable. So, for now, we'll keep the little guy." She smiled at her youngest daughter. "But you need to take good care of him, Nanoha."

"I will! I promise!" She nodded to her mother and smiled.

"Good, come on, let's go inside and relax, it is getting late."

The next morning...

Nanoha stretched as she woke up. "Nnnngh... Morning, Yuuno."

"Morning, Nanoha." The ferret said to her. "Your mother's nice."

Nanoha nodded. "Uh huh. She's nice, and pretty and..."

"A mage." Yuuno finished, causing Nanoha to spin and look at him as if he was crazy. "I could feel it, she's very powerful."

"Nyahahahahaha... You're kidding, Yuuno. My mom's not a mage."

"Yes she is, Nanoha." The ferret nodded at her. "I thought it was weird that you had such strong power, but if your mom is that strong, it makes a lot of sense."

"My mom's just a normal woman, though she's really good with cutting things with that large knife of hers." Nanoha giggled and stuck her tongue out as she rubbed the back of her head. "But, powerful magic? Come on, Yuuno, you're pulling my leg."

Yuuno sighed softly, even as he explained how to use telepathy to Nanoha, he wondered why her mother hadn't explained magic to her yet.

"Dear?" Shiro looked at his wife, who looked up from cutting vegetables. "...I wish you wouldn't use that blade of yours so much."

She shrugged at that. "The kids think it's just a large knife, they don't know it's the dagger that I used to use to carve up bandits with. So, what's the problem?"

"How come you didn't say anything to Nanoha last night?"

She shook her head. "No... I don't think doing that would be for the best right now. Her heritage is waking up now. I'll let her grow into it a bit before explaining things to her."

Shiro sighed, it made sense to him, but still, he wanted to talk to Nanoha about what she was going through. "I imagine she probably has a lot of questions." His wife giggled at him. "What?"

"Oh, that look on your face." She practically purred as she put her dagger down and walked up to him. "It reminds me why I fell for you when I first got here."

He chuckled at her and stared into her eyes. "Can you drop the glamour?" He didn't mind his wife's blue eyes, but he wanted to see her real color again.

She closed her eyes and waved her hand by her face lazily. When she opened them, they had changed color from blue in both eyes to her right eye being red and her left eye being gold. "I don't really like this... It reminds me too much of how I got like this."

Shiro shrugged at that. "Hey, I'm not complaining. Besides, if it wasn't for you, I doubt I'd be here right now."

She sighed as he hugged her. Leaning her head against his chest, she just listened to his heartbeat. "I know. Doesn't make it any easier." She then looked up at him. "Besides," she grinned saucily at him, "if the worst thing Nanoha has to deal with is a thing that can blow up a clinic, then I'm not going to worry."

"Don't say that, you'll jinx it."

She shuddered and hoped that wasn't the case.

Blinking as she saw the ferret her daughter kept as a pet, though she was certain that it was something more than that by now, she wondered why he was here. She had come by due to an odd sensation she had felt, and she thought that her children wouldn't mind a ride home. Unless Shinobu managed to convince Kyouya with some of her cooking.

"Kyu! Kyu!" The ferret tried to get her attention as it ran around her legs before running back the way it came.

Sighing, she followed the thing, before gasping as she came across her daughter's downed form. "Nanoha!" After making sure that her daughter was alive, she sighed and shook her head. "You silly girl, what happened to you?" She had felt the magic distortions, but at the time it hadn't occurred to her to do much about it.

Yuuno blinked as she turned to look at him. "Kyu?"

"Alright you, you're going to explain what happened to me."

"Kyu?" He tilted his head. Better to act like a ferret than let his true nature get revealed.

That went out a moment later when Nanoha's mother held up a hand and a ball of pure flames materalized in it as she narrowed her eyes at him. "I can make these pretty small, I'm sure that I can burn only most of your body."

"I'll talk! I'll talk!" When the flames dissipated, he let out a sigh. "I was right though! You are a mage."

She grimaced slightly. "Sorceress, not mage, close though."

"Why didn't you tell Nanoha that you could do magic?"

She shook her head and concentrated, a white light appearing in her hands as she worked on healing her daughter's body. "It isn't something that everyone has. Even those of us born to parents of magic users aren't guaranteed to be able to use magic." She smirked slightly. "An old friend of mine probably had more potential than I did for using magic, but his memory was so bad that he could never remember any chants for the spells."

"But, what about..?"

"As for why I never told her, ferret, it's simple." She gave him a serious look that had him frozen in place. "There was never a need for her to know about magic. She didn't need to know that she had a lot of potential in magic, there's no dragons, or demons, or other things running around that would require her to use powerful magic, so I never told her about her heritiage, nor did I teach her anything."

Yuuno looked at the woman as she sighed heavily. "But now?"

"I wish I had."

"Hey, it's okay. Nanoha's a fast learner, you could..."

The woman shook her head. "That's enough, now, explain what happened here and why my daughter was injured in the trees behind her friend's house."

After hearing the explination, she sighed. "A rival, huh? Please tell me that she doesn't have an annoying laughter that chills you to the bones."

"Uh... No." Yuuno looked confused, wondering why she'd ask that. "Are you going to tell Nanoha that you can do magic?"

"Not yet." She shook her head. "Not until we go on our family vacation." She smiled at him and suddenly Yuuno felt very nervous. "Far less of a chance I'll accidentally kill someone with my magic."

Yuuno's jaw hit the ground, she wasn't serious, was she?

"You probably don't believe me, huh?" She smiled at him as she indicated her golden eye. "Trust me, using my magic isn't the safest thing in the world." She blinked as she put the glamour back up, her eyes turning blue again.

"I'll... Take your word for it." Yuuno stuttered a bit as Nanoha groaned and woke up.

"Mom?" Nanoha blinked at her. "What are you doing here?"

She shrugged at Nanoha. "Just happened to be in the neighborhood, honey."

"Oh..." Nanoha blinked, wondering how she was going to explain everything.

A few days later...

"So, did they go to sleep, Falin?"

"Yes, Mrs. Takamachi." The maid nodded to her as she smiled softly.

"Good." She smiled as Falin yawned lightly. "Why don't you go to bed too, Falin?"

"What about you, Mrs. Takamachi?" The maid blinked as she smiled softly.

"It's okay. Just get some sleep, I'm going to be up for a little bit, so don't worry." When Falin nodded, she sat in her chair and looked at Shiro, who was sighing softly. "She needs to know, dear."

"I know." Shiro sighed softly. "Are you sure though?"

"She needs to learn somehow, right?" He nodded at her. "Don't worry, I'm not going to teach her anything dangerous," she rolled her eyes as he snorted at her, "I've mellowed out a lot in the years, Shiro, it won't be like what happened in China."

"I know." He smiled at her and kissed her on the lips gently. "I'm more worried about Nanoha though."

"Go to bed." She rolled her eyes as she pulled a black cloak around her body. "We'll be fine."

"I know." He nodded to her as he pulled away from her. "I'm more worried about the landscape."

Laughing and rolling her eyes, she slapped him on his butt and shooed him off. "Don't worry about it." She smirked as he promised her later.

Schooling her features, she turned to the door as she saw her daughter try and slip out the side door. "I guess Yuuno told you, hmm?"

"Ack!" Nanoha spun around and gasped as she looked at her mother. "I thought everyone went to sleep."

"They did." She smiled softly. "Walk with me, you too, Yuuno."

"Kyu!" The ferret bounded up on top of Nanoha's shoulder as the young girl followed her mother away from the building.

When her mother stopped in a clearing, Nanoha gulped slightly, she could feel it, a Jewel Seed was nearby. "Mother?"

The woman turned to her and gripped at the front of her cloak. "I need to show you something, Nanoha."

Nanoha's eyes widened, a pulse ran through her. "Ngh.. I'm sorry, mother, but there's something I have to take care of." She turned and ran, mentally apologizing for running out on her mother like that.

Sighing, the older woman shook her head. "Well..." She chuckled to herself. "Might as well see what it's all about." Dropping the glamour around her eyes, she took off after her daughter and the ferret, albiet from a distance. After all, if her daughter didn't need help, she didn't want Nanoha to think she was in danger.

'Pink...' She groaned while looking at her daughter fight that blond-haired girl. 'My daughter's magic is pink.' There had to be some sort of cosmic coincidence for this, there just had to be. Her left eye pulsed slightly and she grumbled. 'Sure do have a sense of humor, huh, Lady?'

Still, as she sat by a nearby rock, she could see her daughter's power, potential and strength, which was good, however, the lack of skill and any real spells was a problem though. Sighing softly, she waited until the duel came to an end. "Well, guess it's better this way." She chuckled to herself as she dropped her cloak and stepped out.

Fate Testarossa was about to claim her prize when the area lit up. Looking up, her eyes widened as several flaming projectiles were launched at her. Flying back, she idly noted that the girl in white had managed to get away from the attack as well. "Who?" She looked around, before stopping as she saw a woman with red hair, a red and yellow outfit wearing a cape and holding some sort of dagger, looking at her and smirking.

"M...Mom?! What are you doing here?"

"Oh, I just happened to be in the neighborhood, honey. Now, why don't you let your old woman show you how a real magic battle should be fought?"

'At least that explains why she has so much magic.' Fate thought to herself as she floated in the air. Regardless...

"Photon Lancer."

"Mom! Look out!" Nanoha yelled, her eyes wide as Fate's magical projectiles were launched at her mother. Surprisingly enough, her mother did nothing but smirk at them as she raised a hand up. "What?" Nanoha stared in shock as the attacks bounced off of an invisible barrier that sprung up.

"Those attacks weren't bad, little girl, but I've known insane third rate sorcerers who could do better than that."

"Grr... Why you!" That familiar growled and ran up to Nanoha's mother, trying to punch her in the head. Her eyes widened as the redheaded woman ducked under the attack, grabbed her arm and pushed her body up, driving her head into the familiar's gut, before she was slammed to the ground. "Nnngh."

"Why don't you try that again, wolfgirl?" The woman said in a bored tone of voice. "This time, I'll make sure not to dodge it."

Rolling to her feet, the wolf growled at her. "Why you!"

"Arf, wait." The blond girl called out softly, watching, in a lot of shock, as the woman grabbed Arf's fist with ease, before squeezing it and bringing her familiar to her knees with a cry of pain.

"Please, is that the limits of your strength?" The woman twisted Arf's arm, causing her to cry out in pain as pressure was put on her hand and arm. "Girl, I used to have to fight trolls and ogres, and let me tell you something, the little bit of strength you have is nothing compared to them." Using her free hand, the woman tapped her chin. "Then again, my husband did teach me a lot of hand-to-hand after I met him." Suddenly she grabbed her dagger and swung it out, the blade of her weapon meeting the axe blade of Fate's weapon. "So, you're the one who hurt my daughter, huh?"

"Who, ngh..." Fate grimaced, her arms were shaking from the strength she was putting into her attack, but the other woman wasn't budging. "Who are you?"

"Who am I, you ask?" The woman smirked as she looked at Fate with her red and golden eyes. "My name is Lina Takamachi. But I used to be known as Lina Inverse."

Laughing and rolling her eyes, she slapped him on his butt and shooed him off. "Don't worry about it." She smirked as he promised her later.

Schooling her features, she turned to the door as she saw her daughter try and slip out the side door. "I guess Yuuno told you, hmm?"

"Ack!" Nanoha spun around and gasped as she looked at her mother. "I thought everyone went to sleep."

"They did." She smiled softly. "Walk with me, you too, Yuuno."

"Kyu!" The ferret bounded up on top of Nanoha's shoulder as the young girl followed her mother away from the building.

When her mother stopped in a clearing, Nanoha gulped slightly, she could feel it, a Jewel Seed was nearby. "Mother?"

The woman turned to her and gripped at the front of her cloak. "I need to show you something, Nanoha."

Nanoha's eyes widened, a pulse ran through her. "Ngh.. I'm sorry, mother, but there's something I have to take care of." She turned and ran, mentally apologizing for running out on her mother like that.

Sighing, the older woman shook her head. "Well..." She chuckled to herself. "Might as well see what it's all about." Dropping the glamour around her eyes, she took off after her daughter and the ferret, albiet from a distance. After all, if her daughter didn't need help, she didn't want Nanoha to think she was in danger.

'Pink...' She groaned while looking at her daughter fight that blond-haired girl. 'My daughter's magic is pink.' There had to be some sort of cosmic coincidence for this, there just had to be. Her left eye pulsed slightly and she grumbled. 'Sure do have a sense of humor, huh, Lady?'

Still, as she sat by a nearby rock, she could see her daughter's power, potential and strength, which was good, however, the lack of skill and any real spells was a problem though. Sighing softly, she waited until the duel came to an end. "Well, guess it's better this way." She chuckled to herself as she dropped her cloak and stepped out.

Fate Testarossa was about to claim her prize when the area lit up. Looking up, her eyes widened as several flaming projectiles were launched at her. Flying back, she idly noted that the girl in white had managed to get away from the attack as well. "Who?" She looked around, before stopping as she saw a woman with red hair, a red and yellow outfit wearing a cape and holding some sort of dagger, looking at her and smirking.

"M...Mom?! What are you doing here?"

"Oh, I just happened to be in the neighborhood, honey. Now, why don't you let your old woman show you how a real magic battle should be fought?"

'At least that explains why she has so much magic.' Fate thought to herself as she floated in the air. Regardless...

"Photon Lancer."

"Mom! Look out!" Nanoha yelled, her eyes wide as Fate's magical projectiles were launched at her mother. Surprisingly enough, her mother did nothing but smirk at them as she raised a hand up. "What?" Nanoha stared in shock as the attacks bounced off of an invisible barrier that sprung up.

"Those attacks weren't bad, little girl, but I've known insane third rate sorcerers who could do better than that."

"Grr... Why you!" That familiar growled and ran up to Nanoha's mother, trying to punch her in the head. Her eyes widened as the redheaded woman ducked under the attack, grabbed her arm and pushed her body up, driving her head into the familiar's gut, before she was slammed to the ground. "Nnngh."

"Why don't you try that again, wolfgirl?" The woman said in a bored tone of voice. "This time, I'll make sure not to dodge it."

Rolling to her feet, the wolf growled at her. "Why you!"

"Arf, wait." The blond girl called out softly, watching, in a lot of shock, as the woman grabbed Arf's fist with ease, before squeezing it and bringing her familiar to her knees with a cry of pain.

"Please, is that the limits of your strength?" The woman twisted Arf's arm, causing her to cry out in pain as pressure was put on her hand and arm. "Girl, I used to have to fight trolls and ogres, and let me tell you something, the little bit of strength you have is nothing compared to them." Using her free hand, the woman tapped her chin. "Then again, my husband did teach me a lot of hand-to-hand after I met him." Suddenly she grabbed her dagger and swung it out, the blade of her weapon meeting the axe blade of Fate's weapon. "So, you're the one who hurt my daughter, huh?"

"Who, ngh..." Fate grimaced, her arms were shaking from the strength she was putting into her attack, but the other woman wasn't budging. "Who are you?"

"Who am I, you ask?" The woman smirked as she looked at Fate with her red and golden eyes. "My name is Lina Takamachi. But I used to be known as Lina Inverse."

Pfwahahaha! Slayers crossover? Oh hell yes!

And now that you noted it... having the pink sorceress *ducks under the fireball* as her mother would explain how Nanoha got such a... charming color as her magic.

Looking at her house as she came home, Nanoha wondered how she was going to explain why she took off suddenly. Well, that and the ferret in her hands. She doubted she was going to have to bring up magic. With the way her mother always commented on the way television shows made magic look so fake, she didn't want to know what her mother would do if she said she could use magic.

So, when her mother opened the door after her brother and sister interrogated her a bit, she gulped. Her mother's eyes seemed to glint slightly, before she smiled and patted Nanoha on the head. "Welcome home, Nanoha. And who's this little guy?" She looked at the ferret that was in Miyuki's hands, before petting him gently. "He's rather cute."

Nanoha smiled softly. Well, at least things didn't seem to be too bad. "He's the ferret I was telling you about earlier, mother."

"He's so cute!" Miyuki gushed over the little ferret. "Can we keep him, mom?"

"Now, now..." The older woman crossed her arms and closed her eyes. "He may be someone's pet, we can't just keep him for no reason at all."

"The vet he was staying at was blown up?" Nanoha chuckled as her mother nodded at that.

"That's acceptable. So, for now, we'll keep the little guy." She smiled at her youngest daughter. "But you need to take good care of him, Nanoha."

"I will! I promise!" She nodded to her mother and smiled.

"Good, come on, let's go inside and relax, it is getting late."

The next morning...

Nanoha stretched as she woke up. "Nnnngh... Morning, Yuuno."

"Morning, Nanoha." The ferret said to her. "Your mother's nice."

Nanoha nodded. "Uh huh. She's nice, and pretty and..."

"A mage." Yuuno finished, causing Nanoha to spin and look at him as if he was crazy. "I could feel it, she's very powerful."

"Nyahahahahaha... You're kidding, Yuuno. My mom's not a mage."

"Yes she is, Nanoha." The ferret nodded at her. "I thought it was weird that you had such strong power, but if your mom is that strong, it makes a lot of sense."

"My mom's just a normal woman, though she's really good with cutting things with that large knife of hers." Nanoha giggled and stuck her tongue out as she rubbed the back of her head. "But, powerful magic? Come on, Yuuno, you're pulling my leg."

Yuuno sighed softly, even as he explained how to use telepathy to Nanoha, he wondered why her mother hadn't explained magic to her yet.

"Dear?" Shiro looked at his wife, who looked up from cutting vegetables. "...I wish you wouldn't use that blade of yours so much."

She shrugged at that. "The kids think it's just a large knife, they don't know it's the dagger that I used to use to carve up bandits with. So, what's the problem?"

"How come you didn't say anything to Nanoha last night?"

She shook her head. "No... I don't think doing that would be for the best right now. Her heritage is waking up now. I'll let her grow into it a bit before explaining things to her."

Shiro sighed, it made sense to him, but still, he wanted to talk to Nanoha about what she was going through. "I imagine she probably has a lot of questions." His wife giggled at him. "What?"

"Oh, that look on your face." She practically purred as she put her dagger down and walked up to him. "It reminds me why I fell for you when I first got here."

He chuckled at her and stared into her eyes. "Can you drop the glamour?" He didn't mind his wife's blue eyes, but he wanted to see her real color again.

She closed her eyes and waved her hand by her face lazily. When she opened them, they had changed color from blue in both eyes to her right eye being red and her left eye being gold. "I don't really like this... It reminds me too much of how I got like this."

Shiro shrugged at that. "Hey, I'm not complaining. Besides, if it wasn't for you, I doubt I'd be here right now."

She sighed as he hugged her. Leaning her head against his chest, she just listened to his heartbeat. "I know. Doesn't make it any easier." She then looked up at him. "Besides," she grinned saucily at him, "if the worst thing Nanoha has to deal with is a thing that can blow up a clinic, then I'm not going to worry."

"Don't say that, you'll jinx it."

She shuddered and hoped that wasn't the case.

Blinking as she saw the ferret her daughter kept as a pet, though she was certain that it was something more than that by now, she wondered why he was here. She had come by due to an odd sensation she had felt, and she thought that her children wouldn't mind a ride home. Unless Shinobu managed to convince Kyouya with some of her cooking.

"Kyu! Kyu!" The ferret tried to get her attention as it ran around her legs before running back the way it came.

Sighing, she followed the thing, before gasping as she came across her daughter's downed form. "Nanoha!" After making sure that her daughter was alive, she sighed and shook her head. "You silly girl, what happened to you?" She had felt the magic distortions, but at the time it hadn't occurred to her to do much about it.

Yuuno blinked as she turned to look at him. "Kyu?"

"Alright you, you're going to explain what happened to me."

"Kyu?" He tilted his head. Better to act like a ferret than let his true nature get revealed.

That went out a moment later when Nanoha's mother held up a hand and a ball of pure flames materalized in it as she narrowed her eyes at him. "I can make these pretty small, I'm sure that I can burn only most of your body."

"I'll talk! I'll talk!" When the flames dissipated, he let out a sigh. "I was right though! You are a mage."

She grimaced slightly. "Sorceress, not mage, close though."

"Why didn't you tell Nanoha that you could do magic?"

She shook her head and concentrated, a white light appearing in her hands as she worked on healing her daughter's body. "It isn't something that everyone has. Even those of us born to parents of magic users aren't guaranteed to be able to use magic." She smirked slightly. "An old friend of mine probably had more potential than I did for using magic, but his memory was so bad that he could never remember any chants for the spells."

"But, what about..?"

"As for why I never told her, ferret, it's simple." She gave him a serious look that had him frozen in place. "There was never a need for her to know about magic. She didn't need to know that she had a lot of potential in magic, there's no dragons, or demons, or other things running around that would require her to use powerful magic, so I never told her about her heritiage, nor did I teach her anything."

Yuuno looked at the woman as she sighed heavily. "But now?"

"I wish I had."

"Hey, it's okay. Nanoha's a fast learner, you could..."

The woman shook her head. "That's enough, now, explain what happened here and why my daughter was injured in the trees behind her friend's house."

After hearing the explination, she sighed. "A rival, huh? Please tell me that she doesn't have an annoying laughter that chills you to the bones."

"Uh... No." Yuuno looked confused, wondering why she'd ask that. "Are you going to tell Nanoha that you can do magic?"

"Not yet." She shook her head. "Not until we go on our family vacation." She smiled at him and suddenly Yuuno felt very nervous. "Far less of a chance I'll accidentally kill someone with my magic."

Yuuno's jaw hit the ground, she wasn't serious, was she?

"You probably don't believe me, huh?" She smiled at him as she indicated her golden eye. "Trust me, using my magic isn't the safest thing in the world." She blinked as she put the glamour back up, her eyes turning blue again.

"I'll... Take your word for it." Yuuno stuttered a bit as Nanoha groaned and woke up.

"Mom?" Nanoha blinked at her. "What are you doing here?"

She shrugged at Nanoha. "Just happened to be in the neighborhood, honey."

"Oh..." Nanoha blinked, wondering how she was going to explain everything.

A few days later...

"So, did they go to sleep, Falin?"

"Yes, Mrs. Takamachi." The maid nodded to her as she smiled softly.

"Good." She smiled as Falin yawned lightly. "Why don't you go to bed too, Falin?"

"What about you, Mrs. Takamachi?" The maid blinked as she smiled softly.

"It's okay. Just get some sleep, I'm going to be up for a little bit, so don't worry." When Falin nodded, she sat in her chair and looked at Shiro, who was sighing softly. "She needs to know, dear."

"I know." Shiro sighed softly. "Are you sure though?"

"She needs to learn somehow, right?" He nodded at her. "Don't worry, I'm not going to teach her anything dangerous," she rolled her eyes as he snorted at her, "I've mellowed out a lot in the years, Shiro, it won't be like what happened in China."

"I know." He smiled at her and kissed her on the lips gently. "I'm more worried about Nanoha though."

"Go to bed." She rolled her eyes as she pulled a black cloak around her body. "We'll be fine."
