need suggestions for shoujo manga

For some reason I'm currently into shoujo (girls) manga and I'm looking for a few suggestions on what's worth the effort. I 'm currently reading Fushigi Yugi and Ayashi No Ceres, any other good titles out there?

X and Planet Ladder are good. If you like Ceres and Fushigi Yugi, you should like them. Kodocha is great, but it's more comedy. I can't think of anything else right now, but those 3 series should keep you busy for a while

If you are enjoying Yuu Watase works such as Ayashi no Ceres and Fushigi Yuugi, you may want to try some of her other works:

Imadoki - School romance. Sweet but lacking the mystcal themes of the aforementioned series.

Alice 19th - Pretty much a Magical Girl series, but with some really deep and dark themes.

Zettai Kareshi - Basically Chobits for women. Lots of classic Watase humor. Luckily, the Chii counterpart (Night) has a much better personality than the lifeless girl-robot.

Fruits Basket is my favorite manga and has some mystical themes as well as a very in-depth and well-planned story.

If you want more romance oriented stories, Hana Yori Dango(which is a classic), Parfait Tic and Hanazakari no Kimitachi E are all good reads.

Of the above, Alice 19th, Fruits Basket, HanaKimi and Hana Yori Dango are all licensed and published in English (although the first volume of FB doesn't come out state-side until February, and HanaKimi later this year.) HTH!

Hana Yori Dango is good. Furuba is also not a bad choice. Hmm... you can try Marmalade Boy also for some good laughs.

Ugh, I just "finished" (read "trashed") Ayashi no Ceres, it really really sucks. Marmalade Boy sucks as well. I like Fruits Basket, and Peach Girl and Hana Yori Dango were good for a couple of volumes. I recommend Kodocha as well, at least until vol 6 theres. Imadoki wasn't bad either, and it was mercifully short. Another short but fairly good one is Penguin Brothers.

Marmalade Boy sucks? Oh well... I just read up to vol 3 and I thought the story was moving pretty OK back then. Guess I made a rather rash judgement.

Check out "Kare Kano" or "His and Her Circumstances". Really innocent and fluffy, very cute! :3

if you have access to any "telephone books" like Hana to Yume or Margaret magazine, they're worth checking out before you commit to buying a specific series... hm, I'm really stuck on Nebegiba (Never Give Up) because hot guy in schoolgirl outfit is just too cute.

Well, are you looking for English manga or Japanese manga? For English manga, there's not as many shoujo choices available as Japanese shoujo manga.
And furthermore, what about shoujo manga interests you, as shoujo is a very broad genre.

probably the same reason in stereotypical shounen manga, where men are drawn either like idiots or supermuscled men and women are drawn with as few clothes on as possible.

I would like to strongly recommend my all time favorite manga, Mars!!!

Also, I am only on volume 6, but I absolutely love Kare Kano.
I have also enjoyed Kodocha and Marmalade Boy.
I'll have to try several of the other titles recommended here.

Hmm, I absolutely LOVE romance stories, and comedy as well, but some fantasy never hurts either. I do prefer english (or french) manga since my current level of japanese won't do

You can get Penguin Brothers to dl here: http://www.mangadownloads.org/ It's an okay title, and I liked the non-conventional but rushed ending.
