Though by the end I was basically crying along with Karasuno, I have to admit that during the game I found myself cheering for Aoba Jousai as well. Which is a good thing. Usually in a story you just cheer for the main characters and that's it, but Haikyuu has been successful in making me cheer both for them and for the other teams, which is rather rare. I mean, Karasuno is still my Nr 1, but, had they won, I'd have been really sad for Aoba Jousai, especially Oikawa. Anyway, looking forward to the next episode (and next season *fingers crossed*)!

Agreed with everyone else prior. The final attack was a splendid marvel to witness, and the angle in which they showed it made it all the more glorious for me to enjoy.
I'm actually ok with the fact that they lost, because that means we get to see more of them in the future. The storytelling has been pretty amazing too. In these 24 episodes, they've not only covered the main characters' backgrounds, but gave most of the side characters, and other teams significant depth. They even given us that one emotional montage of all the other teams losing. I am so glad in 2014 we finally have more realistic sports anime to talk (write) about. Growing up, as a kid, I was fascinated by Captain Tsubasa and all those special moves. But somewhere along the line, my tastes changed and I now respect the in depth storytelling Haikyuu (and Baby Steps) have to offer. Can anything else similar fill the void once those two shows' respective seasons are over? |

It's literally the only path that made sense with the storytelling of the shpw, but that didn't make the defeat any less painful for me to watch, mainly because I have tangoed with defeat several times in my short life (once on the verge of becoming national junior champion), and as such I identify a lot with their feelings, no, it doesn't do me any good for you to tell me that I fought well, in the end I lost and there's nothing anyone says that can make that right, one thing to note, the guys in this team are better people than me, since I refused to shake the hand of my opponent, I would rather get myself thrown out of the field than to shake the hand of my enemy...

Really good sport anime... One of best in last few years... Ofc ping pong the animation is still better, but there is just higher ligue, not a lot anime can be compared to that seinen...
If anyone is interested in volleyball in real life there is actually world championship right now in my country... We are playing tommorow in grand finale against Brazil... It will be probably one of best matches in last decade.... Volleyball at best leveE: l in world and my own country playing in homeland against opponent who is world champion for last 16 years... If you are volleyball fan, you cant miss it Baby step anime is good... but manga is ten times better (im reading it for few years already) and every manga reader would told you that... Still one of best sport manga adaptation though...

Our team was obviously in an angry-depressed state.
The tournament continued without them. Aoba Johsai made it to the nationals after all.. Flashbacks to Karasuno's last game were a reminder of the heavy loss. There came a point where older members need to put more time into studying and their future.. but they still chose volleyball over it ^^ Guessing volleyball days are pretty much over for them. Kageyama and Hinata vented their frustration in the gym. Preparations for spring tournament gave them new wings! Nice final episode.
