I think the episode as a whole was great, but my favorite part was where Welfin was struggling to find the correct word to say. And when he actually said it, he said it in this squeaky, hard to hear voice, and all the background music just stopped for a second. That was amazing.

I'm also glad that Meruem did not kill Pouf. He has failed utterly and completely and he has to live with that fact (for whatever short amount of life remains in him).

Also, the poison wasn't "just poison". The word 'radiation' was not used, but what was described was radiation poisoning. Especially the part where it "turns the rest of the body into poison".

But when you think about, those guys are basically insects. Insects (especially cockroaches) are known to have "Radioresistance". So a radioactive bomb won't kill them that easily.

I also read that radiation is not contagious because it is not a disease it is an injury, and it depletes as time goes on. Clearly from what we saw the effects of the bomb is contagious since those who survive it can give the poisoning to other live organisms and causes a chain reaction.

There's also this theory the poison is actually parasitic. Parasites eat their victim, reproduce and move to another host and repeat the same cycle and that's closer to what we had.

The king is so entertaining, and I just love how everything else is so beneath him, espeically that pathetic Pouf.

Too bad ant cancer's going to get to him. And poor Werefin. He's going to have to join Knov in hair replacement Nen.

The "they are bugs" explanation doesn't really hold water since they are in fact an amalgam of creatures. Also, if their bodies are emitting gamma rays, you can be damn sure that people who stay around them for extended periods of time suffer the consequences as well, so damn straight it's "contagious".

There is no reason not to assume that "poison" is just a metaphor. If it was an actual "poisonous bomb" (I'm not even sure how that even WORKS), then what everyone believes is Togashi's message to his readers is right out of the window.

fu-cking-preview ruin the mood -_-
its better to fade to black to end the episode and cut the goddamn preview

well whatever, next episode is aftermath and pre-introduction to hunter boss election arc. i think this anime will last untill new year at best. and then wait together for 10 years untill season 2

And this is /why/ the King survived the nuke, for at least a little while. Yes, it's meta as heck, but this scene is definitely worth it.

Also, well, this is a delicious reversal of "Enemy survive big ass explosion? MUST MAKE BIGGER EXPLOSION."

I teared up this episode, so much goddamn feels, the Chimera Ant arc had a damn good run.

As expected the previews are cancer and Madhouse couldn't be assed to just remove them for one single episode, great job killing the mood you guys set up...

I read this arc several years ago, and was just overwhelmed with how complex they made the Ant King. Its rare to see a battle shonen with an antagonist that goes beyond just "i want to rule the world muahahha" and then just gets punched hard enough he loses, and that's it.

Sure the final bit was impactful and had drama, but wow, I'm feeling really let down by this show.

Gon's fight with Pito was hardly a fight. And the kings (and Neto's )last fight was just him getting slapped by a giant Buddha.

HxH is the shonen anime that dares to be different, but I don't think it always works.

This was one of the most well known parts to the manga fans because, well... it's unusual in a shonen manga. There were a lot of stories that tells you obviously and in your face that humans are the good and the monsters are bad, or when they show an obvious black & white morality and tells you straight which ones are the good and which ones are the bad. But the context here makes it different. There's no black & white, but rather a very gray area leans to black as it shows us that humans can get worse than monsters. It was rather faithful, but the only one not seen was the arm part. Everything else was well done. -- Spoiler for Poisonous rose: This part may have confused some, but in the anime as well as the manga it says very clearly it was poison, and not radiation the bombs produces. Sure at first it sounds like radiation effects, but since they never mention radiation then it's poison. And for those who still say poison doesn't work that way I say "yes, it can work that way... in a work of fiction so don't over think this matter and just accept it because it's a fictional weapon and not real." -- Spoiler for Enjoy the Fabulous: Because he won't last that long --- Spoiler for part 2: Spoiler for The final piece: I guess Netero left him another memento besides his name and the bomb WELFIN NOOOOOO!! Oh wait, he's not dead yet. But he doesn't look at his best either! Welfin's life flashes on front of his eyes And the last piece of the puzzle is: Komugi Yeah, alright. Give the girls their service. Wow! way to ruin an epic line with an animation error! As for here, it seems there was a confusion on the King says regarding Gyro and who wants to him to see. Meruem? or Welfin? Some translations makes him say "I hope I can meet him", but in Viz's translation as well as the anime translation he says "I hope you find him". So he's not saying he wants to meet Gyro, but wishes for Welfin to find him. And last, is silence I should say though... the visuals when Welfin was struggling to find the answer were... weird... like something out of a Stanley Kubrick movie! Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case! Also speaking about visuals, I think my favorite scene was this part where we see Meruem and Komugi playing in this vast flower field. Yes, it's a bit cheesy, but the way they executed it just makes it more heavy on the feelings! Everything in this episode was great. I admired her courage, but her willpower was lacking. It was nice to see Meruem & Komugi reunited. Seeing them together fter all this time was fulfilling. Their relationship was unusual, but was also the reason Meruem became more human. Still, an unusual ending for Meruem, too peaceful for this type of anime.
