But it's doubtfully either overrated or underrated. Graphical team really put alot of hard effort into this movie even though story was another war cliche |

How about third-party conquistadores from outer space and a corrupt alliance between them and earth, but in the end the latter needing backup from Pandora? Add emotional conflict and tons of sad music, and you got yourself Avatar 2.

Has anyone bothered to go to this movie again with the rerelease cinema version that is extended with just a few minutes of shots, moan and groan and words words words?
It isn't being re-released here.. I wouldn't bother going again either.. Beside the whole not original aspect and sucky ending I didn't like Cameron's ego saying that he thought not enough people were able to enjoy this movie because other 3D hits like Alice in Wonderland quickly replaced his movie and so he made a slight extended one that released in cinema I think a few weeks ago.. again... Damn Cameron and his ego |

I saw a fascinating article where a bunch of Amazon tribal chieftains were given a showing of 3D Avatar. For many of them, it was the first time they'd ever seen a motion picture.
The typical response was "very nice retelling of our situation... but the ending was fantasy because the natives won".

Although there are many series and movies about aliens trying to take over Earth and vice versa, this is by far amongst the most mature takes on the subject. Highly recommended. Damn you publicity for throwing BfT in oblivion and deifying a nice-looking but empty present box like Avatar. And I love Plinkett's take on the movie as well. http://www.redlettermedia.com/avatar.html |

James Cameron Slapped With Lawsuit Over 'Avatar' Plot
""Avatar" director James Cameron has been hit with a lawsuit by a writer who
claims that the plot for the hit sci-fi movie was lifted from his own project. In the suit, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday, Eric Ryder claims that he entered into an agreement with Cameron's production company, Lightstorm Entertainment, to develop a movie based on his story "KRZ 2068."" James Cameron May Add Chinese Na'vi to 'Avatar' Sequels:
"Now that James Cameron is doing business with China, don’t be surprised if Chinese Na’vi pop up in the Avatar sequels. In August, the Cameron/Pace Group, which the director founded with Vince Pace, announced CPG China, a joint venture with the state-owned Tianjin North Film Group and Tianjin Hi-Tech Holding Group to provide camera systems and other 3D production services in the northern port city of Tianjin. Cameron, 58, still plans to shoot the performance-capture work on Avatar 2 and 3 in Los Angeles, liveaction photography in Wellington, New Zealand, and VFX work at Wellingtonbased Weta Digital once preproduction finishes and filming gets under way in 2013. “That was the model for the first film, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” he tells THR. But Cameron acknowledges that there are reasons to do some of the work on the films in China, saying, “Within five years, China could easily be as big a gross- revenue market for film as North America, and there are very specific economic incentives for having both Chinese content and Chinese co-production. We are already funded on Avatar 2 and 3, but if we qualify as a co-production, there might be some incentives in the percentage of revenue we can take out of China."
