She doesn't remember. They met by chance (or more like fate) and Airi doesn't know him. But this is a new beginning for them, and considering Satoru's reaction (he was so happy to see her he was crying) he'll make the most of it. Also they sharing an umbrella is a huge romantic symbolism.

On a side note, this happens in 2012, so Airi is around 23 and Satoru 35, so now they could date properly.

Ahhh what I can say... I loved the ending, is something bittersweet after all wha happened to Satoru, his friends, his mother, everyone.

But, I'm happy and more about the fact that Airi was the one who's going to stay with Satoru in the future.

OTP end lel. Ending was so heartwarming, and considering that Satoru has the previous timelines memories of the past 15 years, it's not as if he really missed anything in life. Heck he's even back as a manga writer. Though personally it would have been nice to have him reveal his revivals to his friends so they wouldn't trat him like a 10 year old lol

How many chapters has the anime version covered so far? The anime story feels like its at its halfway point, yet there's only 3 more episodes left. Plus the anime director says the manga ending will be adapted...

It looks like the anime will adapt, at the very least, up to the part where Satoru first wakes up from his coma to the brand new timeline. What happens then is an open question -- the answer to that interview implied that the anime will go with the manga ending, however I've seen some news sites interpret it instead that it will use the ORIGINAL ending that the author planned from the first draft.

Bully girl was never really that important and I'm pretty sure they implied that Aya ended up with one of Satoru's friends.

With the current pacing, I think episode 11 will end the 1988 plot, but with only one more episode afterwards I don't see how there would be enough time to end anything in a satisfactory way, even if it's the "original ending" which I don't know anything about. Even if the coma/amnesia/rehabilitation arc (which felt like the author intentionally stalling for time IMO) was condensed, there's still easily 6 episodes worth of content left, or even 8 if the killer's story was included. I'm hoping that extra episodes would be announced, or that the author's "originally planned ending" is miraculously good, because otherwise we'll end up with a trainwreck ending that will ruin the entire show. The other possibility is that whatever the "original ending" is will have the killer caught in 1988 in episode 11, and have episode 12 be an epilogue set in a new timeline.

Yeah, they cut that along with the scene where Kenya explains why he is so driven to help Satoru.
