Hahaha - the fact that "the" Mikuru folder is on the DVD is hilarious! Well played. It looks like most of the animation changes are the result of some meticulous consistency/continuity quality checking, so it's not surprising that most people wouldn't notice. (Props to the blogger for having a keen eye.) I'll have to check it out when it arrives this week.

I wonder how strong the possibility is that a.f.k. will get hold of the DVD rips and resub it...

Woah those aren't just regular changes and random inclusions.

They are all parts that happened in the novel that they forgot to include.

Mikuru tripped while getting up to greet Itsuki and Itsuki helped her up, this 'gentlemanly' behaviour is actually one of the major reasons why Kyon hated him so much.

While playing Othello with Mikuru, Yuki was shocked to find out that the chess pieces are magnetic and withdrew her hands.

Other than these, the others are the 'dimensional crossing items', The Teleporting Bags of Doom, The Sliding Bunny Ears and such.

Lots of stuff indeed.

Kyon finding out that the book is about the "satellite of Saturn" - Hyperion.

Yuki's eyes widened in surprise when Haruhi announced the purpose of the SOS Brigade - to find aliens, time travellers and espers and to play with them. Her eyes really are more widened than usual here.

The sudden disappearance of Kyon's bag reappearing again - KyoAni has been listening to the fans and probably lurking in their blogs as well.

The ultimate sucker punch has got to be the hidden "Mikuru" folder when you pop the DVD into your computer and choose to "Show Hidden Files". There goes my savings for this month, I'm getting the DVD. xD

It's no surprise that Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu spread like wildfire just by word of mouth, I guess the effect is (at least) tripled when a high traffic site is literally bombarded with references to Haruhi

2199 at this time, BUT!

That is only if you search in English. Also, it overlaps A LOT with Ouran High School Host Club. Searching in Japanese reveals an additional 451 videos.

Alright lol, I'm pausing my Haruhitan work for a while for I just got my Suzumiya Haruhi no Koushiki, Official Fan Book. I spent some time on the book today and I still can't fully process the tiny amount of information that I learnt from it. The book contains more data than any single mortal can grasp from the anime alone.

I strongly recommend, no, I command everyone in the name of Haruhi-sama, to get it.

I'm not going to scan the book, I don't want to damage the pages , I treat every single material of Haruhiism with the utmost care. So I'm going to present a little bit of data with my camera phone. My camera phone, Nokio 6630, which I learnt from the book, is the same phone Itsuki uses. Some people say I tend to speak like Itsuki some times, but I didn't expect that I have more in common with him.

Visual Data:

Horizontal comparison of size:
Left to Right: Fan book, Taiwanese version Novel, Manga, Japanese version Novel.

Stack comparison of size:
Top to Bottom: Japanese version Novel, Manga, Taiwanese version Novel, Fan book

Small amount of data from Fan Book:

The Tsundere Meter, also written there as 'Suzumiya Haruhi no Jounetsu', Suzumiya Haruhi's Passion(for Kyon):

The Tsundere Meter is displayed for each episode, except Episode 1/11, 'Asahina Mikuru no Bouken Episode 00'. Oh and yes there's an offical chronological order chart too confirming Episode 1 is Episode 11 chronologically, well, anyway we know about it but still its not said in the anime.

The Tsundere meter has 20 blocks, meaning 1 block = 5% Tsun or Dere. Tsun is at the top of the list in blue, Dere is at the bottom in red.

I'm listing the Tsundereness of Haruhi according to the Tsundere Meter in the Airing order:

Episode 2, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu I: 35% Tsun 65% Dere
Episode 3, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu II: 50% Tsun 50% Dere
Episode 4, Suzumiya Haruhi no Taikutsu: 75% Tsun 25% Dere
Episode 5, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu III: 95% Tsun 5% Dere
Episode 6, Lone Island Syndrome (Part 1): 25% Tsun 75% Dere
Episode 7, Mysterique Sign: 50% Tsun 50% Dere
Episode 8, Lone Island Syndrome (Part 2): 25% Tsun 75% Dere
Episode 9, Someday In the Rain: 10% Tsun 90% Dere
Episode 10, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu IV: 50% Tsun 50% Dere
Episode 11, Day of Sagittarius : 50% Tsun 50% Dere
Episode 12, Live A Live : 10% Tsun 90% Dere
Episode 13, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu V: 95% Tsun 5% Dere
Episode 14, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu VI: 5% Tsun 95% Dere

Typing this bit was quite exhausting, there's too much data for me to provide to everyone, I have to stop for now, its time for Mythbusters.

Everyone should get this book.

Yep, the Fan Book.

There's a character art and summary, Mikuru-chan rules this section with 4 pages of costumes, even Haruhi-sama has 2 pages only.

There's a summary for each episode, telling us of the things unknown

There's a encyclopedia of all the terms used in the anime. From stuff like Kyon, Room 505, Closed Circle to Canada.

There's a whole lot of other things and those that I still haven't look at.

Okay, Live A Live should be the ONLY episode where Haruhi is under 50% tsuntsun. 50/50 on Day of Sagittarius? Blasphemy!

I'm definitely going to order that fanbook.

So far, I've managed to buy all the magazines that've contained any Haruhi-related info.

Well Haruhi's variable tsundere ratio is directly proportional to her relations with Kyon that day.

I don't see why Live A Live is 50/50 tsundere, 90% deredere is accurate for how Kyon was pretty sweet to her.

Days when Kyon didn't bother her much or didn't cheer her would just have a normal 50/50 tsundere ratio, that is Yuuutsu II when they first met and Kyon hasn't really started affecting her, Mysterique Sign where Haruhi didn't have too much activity with Kyon and Sagittarius where there were no arguments or sweet moments.

If Kyon gets Haruhi mad, she goes tsuntsun immediately, if he's sweet, she goes deredere.

Haruhi is really easy to please for Kyon actually lol

But see, I disagree. Even her default cheerful/domineering behavior usually involves bossing Kyon around, lecturing him on the importance of whatever they're doing, or dismissing his concerns, so I feel that the 'baseline' shouldn't be a 50/50 split.

She isn't always mad at him, but she's usually frustrated with his failure to 'get it' on the best of days.
