Katte ni Kaizou

Well, it finally came. And by Shaft too.
Yeah, Shaft...

I guess it will be animated with the later character designs for Katte ni Kaizou? And not Kumeta's older art style?
Kind of wish they used his older one though...

I've been wanting to read this manga for so long, and an adaptation by SHAFT x Shinbo is the next best thing!

Oh my god, why Shinbo has directed a lot of Shaft titles since two past years.

Hata's so going to be in the launch party (not).

I should have known when the reprints started coming out, Kumeta making blog posts again on the Shounen SOOday site et al that the two of them burying the hatchet.

PS Umi makes Chiri look normal.

Kaizou getting an anime probably means a whole lot to Kumeta because it has been a painful memory for him since the manga got suddenly ended.

I'm glad that Kaizou is getting animated but god damn it......this mean Kizu is gonna get pushed back even more.

I was an absolute fan of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, so I am positive I will love this too.

What does the title mean in English?

I've always wondered is Shinbo is even the ONLY director at SHAFT.

Isn't Shinbo moreso the "Chief Director" @ SHAFT and you have other individuals actually directing the series? Like I see Yukihiro Miyamoto listed as "Series Director" for Magica, Arakawa I + II and Maria Holic with Shinbo being called a Director. And you see the same thing with Shin Oonuma and the Natsu and ef series.. well Shinbo is called Supervisor for the ef ones..

Can anyone explain whats going on? Is Shinbo just a great delegated (helps having guys who work in the same style) while working on a few shows at a time himself?

You would think SHAFT would like you know focus on the franchise that by itself has outsold everything else they have done. Kizu's taking so long it better be a gorgeously animated movie or two...

I'm expecting Nisio to finish the franchise off with the next... what is it 4 novels before they even release Kizu... and that than leaves them 7 novels to animate...

^ Shinbo is indeed a director of the series. It is just Shaft has 'a system' that allows director can work more efficiently. For example, if you see the credit roll at the end, you don't see Shinbo's name often, since he doesn't draw contis most of the time. He is more of supervisor or instructor (which is also part of director's job anyway), but that doesn't mean all those direction came out of nowhere. It's more like, Shinbo = Shaft. However, it is not chicken and egg relationship; Shinbo's direction came first, then Shaft totally adjusted themselves to fit with that direction as quick as possible and has 'system' that director can express his own world in multiple animes, such as having series directors.

I'm confused. Wasn't Toradora's artist the one in charge of the manga illustrations while Kumeta does the story?

I'm disappointed that it's only an OVA but hopefully it'll get promoted to a regular season later if the OVA does well. Then again this should have been expected since Maria and Denpa alone already seems like a lot of work and then there's Kizu too. Of course, this is only up until April and I'm expecting Hidamari 4 to appear.

Awww, only an OVA. That's a shame. Kind of surprised Kamiya isn't in it. I'm not complaning since Sakurai whom I like more than him got the role instead.

Is it the first time Toyosaki stars in a Shaft anime?

It might not be very original but the cast that I was hoping for was:

Hiroshi Kamiya as Kaizo
Marina Inoue as Umi
Youji Ueda as Chitan
Ai Nonaka as Suzu

Basically their Zetsubou counterparts.

I guess that they did it like this is because in case they have a cross-over you don't get the seiyus doing two voices at the same time.

Sakurai again? I mean, not that Kamiya is any less overused, but still.

At least we're getting Eri Kitamura...

Lol, no freakin way. Nice! The manga is one of the funniest I've read and Shaft is the perfect studio to do a series like this. Can't wait for the OVA.

This is the first time I've heard of this manga, but it seems interesting. I'll definitely watch the anime when it comes out.
