Mainly a transition episode. The situation improved a bit for the Scouts, though not for all of them. What will Erwin say to the King?

What the fuck? Kennys related to Mikasa? What the hell is that supposed to mean?

This show is surprisingly engaging even without any action. This little cat and mouse game between the scouts and the Establishment is fun to watch that's for sure. I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of consequences no matter what happens.

Levi not knowing Kenny's name implies he doesn't know his own last name, which is why nobody ever commented on Mikasa having the same name as him.

If my memory isn't completely jacked they've skipped quite a bit. I guess they just really want to get through this arc as fast as possible.

It's a request from the mangaka himself. He wasn't satisfied with this arc in the manga. Honestly, I don't remember this arc too well (to the point I misremembered something pretty important recently), but I don't think they've cut anything vital to the story. I know they left out one big hint about Eren's father, but it was perhaps because it was too big.

In any case, I'm enjoying this arc in the anime. They're striking a good balance between action and intrigue.

I'll admit that I miss a few of the character moments that they cut off, but the anime version does seem better paced.

Agreed. While I miss some of those moments, I understand the need to remove/skip over them. In the grand scheme of things they aren't that important.

Also, is this season one cour or two?

I wouldn't expect to get engaged with the political drama for this episode. Furthermore, the most juicy insights on Erwin had made nuanced man of few words all sympathetic to me.

Trust comes hard in a world that delivers death without rest or knowledge.

Flegel had to realize to stand up as a man so as not let waste the people his father and company stood up for when the Government couldn't care less at the aftermath of the Battle of Trost.

Marlo had his convictions, as naive as they may, but he felt to do the right thing for the Scout Regiment winding unknowingly at getting Jean's attention.

To stand up for one's own convictions so as to right the wrongs in a rotten, cramped cage that the cynical pigs get to choose what is and isn't truth at the expense of humanity.

Jean, you're as much as dumb as Eren, and yet both understanding what truly gets for a man to put his life at stake expecting nothing in return.

The pigs boast about their imminent triumph, as Erwin is being served right into the gallows. However, the bets are not still off yet, and at the times like this is when former friends we'll have no choice but to make a choice between conforming to the current world or what they're willing to give their lives for what they want to protect the most.
