Delvers LLC ("Transported" Web Novel Series)
Maturity: Teen for Strong Language, Violence, Gore, and Sexual Situations. Genre(s): Fantasy, Adventure, Transported, Harem, Magic. Synopsis: Henry and Jason led normal lives in Seattle before they were abducted to another world. Their kidnapper, the vain and self-styled god Dolos, refuses to send them back unless they can accomplish an impossible task. Oddly, Dolos doesn't seem to care if they succeed or not. Luckily, Henry and Jason studied Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) on Earth. Unfortunately, a Japanese American EMT and a geeky IT programmer don't have many other useful skills on a sword and sorcery world like Ludus. Thus, with no direction and only a few possessions including two magic-granting orbs from an apathetic god, the two begin their insane adventure to return home. Excerpt: When you just know you’re going to have a bad day… Spoiler for From Ch. 2:
Author’s Note: This story was kind of a happy accident. Delvers LLC originated as a couple chapters I uploaded for fun and ended up getting a great response from readers. They wanted to see more. I had a lot of fun writing the story so I just continued. Now I'm almost done with the first book! The entire fictional universe of Delvers' really evolved from the question, "What would happen if otherwise regular, capable people were actually transported to another world? What if my MCs are really smart, but not completely infallible?” I'm doing my best to tell a serious story, but also keep the general tone fairly fun and self-aware. I hope you enjoy it. Spoiler for FAQ:

As for the harem(s), I don't want to give plot points away. I will say that Ludus, where the story takes place has a bunch of different transported races and the culture is very different from Earth. Most races in the Delvers universe do not have a 1:1 gender birthrate like we do so their views on marriage etc. are entirely different. |

It's litRPG but I wrote it a bit differently than other stories on the market right now. I spent a lot of time on worldbuilding and how things work in the background. |

I think there's something like "Book 1" that is already finished. True to any "Transported to another world" trope, the two MCs decided to go adventuring and set up their own adventurer party/group/team/company. The next arc begins with a minor timeskip after that happens, so that would be one point where you can stop.
I would need to look up which chapter that is though.... EDIT: Chapter 32 is a very good cut-off point. If the series is turned into a book, this is probably where book 1 would end. It even has a small cliffhanger to serve as an "end". C33 starts "two weeks later", which is another reason this is a good place to stop until the next 30ish chapters are done. Ok, I started reading it and am currently finished with chapter 32. The story was ok, but why the hell did you let the father of the piece of shit survive and let him continue to be an enemy. (Well, that is something that I personally dislike, so I just rant a bit here.)
Now on to other stuff. In the first chapter there were 2 cases of switched words that stood out like sore thumbs, "beginning" instead of "begging" and vice versa. I'm sure there were some more grammatical errors but they didn't stick in my mind like those two cases. At last there is something of a plot hole (if I haven't overlooked it while reading). Where does Jeth's Orb come from? Thod had another orb after killing a Holder and gave it in the end to Yelm, right? I first thought Jeth stole it in the chaos that Jason's rampage caused, but later we get a bit from Yelm's view that he received it so that can't be the case then. Don't tell me someone (Dolos) gave it to him in the few minutes between him alarming the camp and later stalking Mareen? EDIT: Come to think of it, with Keeja knowing what orb it was, that's probably what happened, and probably an indirect gift to Mareen (can't imagine her wanting Jeth to become a Holder) if she can overcome this situation. Still, it would be shitty if in the future more enemies get stuff in this way. Are priestesses even allowed to dish out orbs? Last edited by Vocah; 2016-06-21 at 11:56. |
